Tanta is dedicated to sharing the flavors and culture of Peru with Chicago, serving authentic Peruvian dishes and beverages in an approachable, fun and casual downtown setting. We provide service that is casual yet knowledgeable, genuine and attentive, utilizing locally sourced products and vendors that are sensitive to sustainable farming and fishing.

Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.

The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Tito Rocha, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

My second time at TANTA and definitely will go again! The atmosphere on the rooftop is fantastic, the food is to remember ( the ceviche trio is a must) and the cocktails are refreshing and delicious . A bit noisy but absolutely worth it.

Three colleagues and I ate at Tanta while traveling on business because other colleagues gave it a very high recommendation based on their visit in early May. The food was tasty, our server Luis(?) was excellent. I expect that our team members will return when next in town.

Javier was great explaining the drink and food menu and gave us great recommendations. Food was amazing and delicious. Javier took the initiative to surprise my daughter with a celebration ice cream for her graduation from University of Chicago. Love the restaurant, I will return and will recommend to friends and family. Thanks a lot

I absolutely love this place! The serving size are perfect. The food is amazing. I love going here with my family and friends. It is a little pricey, but I highly recommend it as a relaxing place to go on a date, to take visiting family to eat, or just to celebrate. Peruvian dishes has a lot of fish-based dishes but there are non-fish and vegetarian options as well.

The food was amazing, had ceviche and the Vegetarian smokey broccolini, both were flavorful and delicious. The server forgot my dates’ appetizer and took forever to come to the table but was friendly when he wasn’t distracted. The temperature dropped by more than ten degrees, despite having heat lamps up there, no one turned them on, would have asked if I could get anyone’s attention. The prices jumped significantly from our visit a few years ago Happy Hour could be the new move

Great rooftop ambiance, fresh and vibrant food with delicious cocktails. Pricey (it’s downtown $$), but it was great before a show a The Chicago Theater being only a 15 min walk away. It’d be great for dates, too. Treat yourself!

Service was great. Food was good and drinks were good but we went for happy hour and only learned after sitting down at our reservation that happy hour is only for the 10 seats at the bar. Did not specify on website at all and it ended up being way more expensive than we wanted

Food was good. Unfortunately service not so much. Waiter spilled water all over the table every time he was refilling glasses. Spilled left over food on me, table and seats when picking up dishes. It looked like they were trying to rush us out of the restaurant.

Great food and service. Family/tapas style, which I love. You can order many dishes for a bunch of flavorful bites hitting all parts of the pallet. Desert was a knock out too!
