   Laurel used to wow. There is a reason it’s no longer listed with the vernicks of the world. The sauces were I’ll prepared, the kitchen was undisciplined, and the service was lack luster. If you are looking for the Laurel of years past I fear it’s forever gone. Spend your 600 bucks somewhere else

   We had a 530pm reservation and were the first to enter the restaurant. We were sat at a table for two by the entrance. The dining area was small, totaling seating for 20 or so guests. We had the six course tasting menu and shared a seventh course of A5 Wagyu, with the wine pairings. Each course was meticulously prepared and presented. The amuse bouche of the evening was a foie gras and strawberry tart. It was excellent. The six courses were interesting and complex. The staff was very attentive, however, the overall service was a bit rushed. We were done in a little over an hour. The background music was classic rock and a bit heavy, which also detracted from the dining experience.

    Food was a little too tiny. Upscale restaurants typically serve smaller portions but this was a bit extreme. Some of the food was very well done but some were throwaway items they served as a course. The caviar, quail, and wagyu were phenomenal. Service was excellent as well.

    We had the wine pairing with the A5 Wagyu, highly recommend it. I found myself saying “this is all so phenomenal” multiple times. The first course of the 7 sent me back to childhood and I knew this would be an incredibly enjoyable experience. The wine and 7th course were a perfect compliment to an already impressive lineup. Our waiter and the wait staff were warm and knowledgeable, made us feel very taken care of. I will certainly come back here in a few months.

    Food was outstanding and presentation was beautiful! Loved the wine and drinks too. This may be odd to say but tables are uncomfortable bc the height of the chairs is too short.

    The food was amazing! The chefs tasting menu was kept a surprise until each dish was served which kept us pleasantly surprised with every bite. The staff was very engaging and knowledgeable about the food and wine. Definitely suggest wine pair. They did a great job. A definite must try.

    The food was imaginative, beautifully presented, a lesson in textural complexity, and very very tasty. The wine pairings were spot-on for the food and drawn from outside of the usual-suspects pairing options. Every person we interacted with was as approachable and friendly as they were knowledgeable about the food and drink. Will definitely come here again next time I’m in town.

    Joey was fantastic and the service was impeccable. My wife and I opted in to the wine pairing which really elevated the experience. The staff was also exceptionally accommodating to my wife’s dairy sensitivity and it was fun to taste the dairy free against the normal option. The food was phenomenal, the ambiance was great, and we could not have asked for a better night.

    Amazing tasting menu. Delicate and creative courses. Wonderful service by waitstaff. Kitchen staff graciously accommodated food allergies and preferences. We brought our wine. They have a $25 corkage fee which is very fair as they have a full bar available. They even provided an additional dessert for my birthday. Great experience. See menu and pics of some of the plates.

    Perfect engagement dinner. Chef Elmi came out and spoke with us after serving 3 dishes to us. Special s’mores dessert for us as well. Couldn’t possibly ask for a better night with better food. This is Michelin star grade!

    Laurel is a VERY expensive restaurant but the food was truly brilliant! It is not an all-purpose celebration place--but rather a destination for those who really care about interesting food, exotic flavors, arresting presentations and a truly unique culinary dining experience. I'm a foodie--so that worked. But I can imagine some folks thinking it is an awfully expensive place for "weird' food. Actually, nothing was weird but it could seem that way to an unprepared palate. I did think the $25.00 corkage fee inappropriately high......I know they want to get us to pay the EXTRA $80/person for their wine pairings.....but that is more wine than we can drink. So we brought our own good bottle. Some of the dishes were beyond brilliant and delicious-- their version of quail was over the top good and the artichoke custard that created the base for our first course was truly splendid. But two $140 meals, $25.00 corkage and a 20% tip for the well-deserved service, brought the bill to over $400. That is a lot for dinner. Caveat emptor!! Worth it if you want that kind of meal and can afford it but a slightly obscene amount of money for dinner, when SO many are in want. You could eat at least 10 scrumptious dinners at the nearby Indonesian hole-in-the-wall eateries (with leftovers for the the next night!), for the price of one dinner at Laurel. And yet......we loved it!

    I had been wanting to get here for the longest time and only regret i had not come sooner. The place had a simple elegance eith a nice bar off in another room. Service was top notch from door to exit. Each dish built to the next and had a quiet elegance in every bite without being pretentious. And the neighborhood is adorable

    Service was good, very attentive without being overbearing. Food was excellent. Really enjoyed the quail and the add on A5 wagyu. This was spectacular and a generous portion. I’d highly recommend if you can swing the add on cost. Not too loud. Could easily talk without having to shout. Cocktails I had were ok but I didn’t love them. There was a wine pairing that in hindsight I would definitely get. I will definitely dine here again when I’m in town.
