We are Oxford’s neighborhood restaurant and “living room,” affectionately regarded as such by former executive chef, Chef Vishwesh Bhatt, and Oxonians alike. In 2009, the founder of the City Grocery Restaurant Group, Chef John Currence, situated our “Southern Brasserie” just off The Square in the now-revived Midtown Shopping Center. In support of our community, we strive to use local ingredients whenever possible. We are the place for fresh raw oysters on the half shell, skillfully-crafted cocktails, and wistful fare by the “Snackbar Trio”: Thomas “T.H.” Freeland, Sebastian Markowitz, and Bryan Sapp. Let us show you a truly memorable experience.     Service was great. French onion soup was great. Fried chicken was overcooked. Crust was dark brown, almost burned. Oil was probably too hot when cooked. Would recommend the restaurant, but not the fried chicken.

    This is one of our favorite restaurants in the world, and we lived in DC and visit New York and California often. Chef Rish is amazing!

    My sister and I made a last minute reservation and enjoyed a fabulous meal at Shackbar! Our server, Raja was knowledgeable and friendly, describing our drink, wine and menu items. We didn’t order a lot but the oysters, french onion soup and monte cristo sandwich were outstanding! We highly recommend Snackbar and hope to visit again! Thank you to Raja and the entire staff for a lovely experience.

    As usual, the experience was outstanding. It was graduation weekend, which made it extremely crowded and a bit louder than usual. Overall, the experience remained fantastic.

    We love snack bar and always have a great food-last night was the first miss on the redfish- i couldn’t cut it with a fork and knife. This is more on the seafood provider than on the restaurant. The catfish Parmesan however was over the top amazing. Wait staff made up for any food that wasn’t up to par. Drinks were on point. Sitting outside was a nice change- weather was perfect!
