Ka'ana Kitchen at Andaz Maui
Our dishes are prepared using techniques from around the culinary world, but thought-out in accordance with our micro-climate. The way we prepare our fish, season our salads, and grill our meat depends not only on its origin, but what the weather tells us, how the swells on the ocean shape our mood, and how the land influences our feelings.
Here we hope to blur the lines between your kitchen and our restaurant, between what is external and what is internal. We invite you in, share our hopes, and create a unique dining experience that connects you to this place and its essence.

Delicious ono fish entree with root vegetables. Attentive service. Patio seating was perfect to see sunset.
Gorgeous views of spectacular sunset
Service excellent. Food excellent. Ambiance excellent. Overall, an excellent dining experience!
Beautiful atmosphere in a modern style restaurant. Great for having a conversation in a relaxing but still trendy setting. I had the grilled romaine salad & mushroom risotto which were outstanding.
Interesting menu with different preparations, but some what limited.
Excellent wine list, with different varietals than the usual Chardonnay and Cabernet Savignon.
Absolutely delicious meal! All food was locally grown & sustainable. It was a bit pricey but I can honestly say this was the most delicious meal I have ever had in a restaurant anywhere!
Inappropriate conduct by host upon initial seating. He had selected an exterior seating location which hostess proceeded to seat us at. I was not offered a choice and preferred an interior location. She proceeded to accommodate however the host in passing muttered under his breathe to hostess loud enough for us to hear “oh, she doesn’t want to sit outside?” In a disgusted tone. We did have a reservation.
Once seated, a server introduced himself welcomed us and disappeared. We were left neglected for some 20 min until the hostess noticed our wandering eyes needing some attention. She scrambled to find someone to assist. Someone did take over for the original server. A manager never came to introduce themself and apologize for the neglect on their staff, unless the person who took over was a manager. She tried her best to remedy the situation however it was long gone by then.
A number of fatalities had transpired last night. Host set the unwelcome tone upon arrival, proceeded to seat us at a table who’s server had a very large party just seated, and a manager not on top of his or her game to take immediate note of our server less table while the famed chef stood just feet away hosting chef’s tables believing all was good with what he had created with his most personal passion.
What a shame, however, you do not need to depend on repeat business but only wide-eyed tourists just passing through...
Very creative menu. Small and entree size offerings in various categories of locally sourced food. Great place for diners who like to "graze" on a variety of appetizer portions rather than having a traditional meal.
Came here to celebrate my birthday. Our server Carlie was wonderful. Our food was delicious and the view was just amazing!
We live nearby and have always enjoyed Ka'ana Kitchen, but were particularly pleased with our experience this time because our eldest daughter, a vegan was dining with us and we wanted to enjoy a meal together while accommodating her food preferences. Ka'ana Kitchen went WAY above and beyond to make sure that she had an exceptional experience. Menu items were adapted to suit her, and other options not on the menu were also offered. Our server (and I am reaching for his name, but I think it might have been Brad) was exceptional and checked in to be sure everything was perfect. There was one minor slip in her meal, but it was addressed immediately and was resolved with grace and generosity. We continue to enjoy and recommend Ka'ana Kitchen, but want to particularly recommend it as a fabulous option for vegans.
Food was great service was only ok but overall we had a great time. Ahi Tataki was the highlight dish
More fussy than fulfilling... Lovely space and initially thoughtful, knowledgeable service (which lapsed into distracted later), but the menu, structured for "sharing" emphasize small (but still pricey) dishes. We had seared ahi on a "curry"... Perfectly cooked and presented but without much hint of flavor. The fried chicken was better but still on the mild side, in spite of a description that included two varieties of chiles. The net result was more like a thin sweet chili garlic sauce. It was served on an oddly textured corn cake (between a corn bread and a waffle, and a little too sweet).
We ordered a bottle of sancerre from the extensive wine list, but it was an uninspired choice at any price... Disappointing indeed at $90. There were probably better bottles on the list but I've never had a disappointing sancerre before. And for heaven's sake, don't park the bottle twenty feet from my table then disappear for long periods of time.
Overall, Ka'ana Kitchen had potential but really didn't fulfill. You can almost certainly do better.
This restaurant was expensive for the sake of being expensive. The food was good, but was $25 for a small plate. It was good, but not worth the amount of money spent. I would not return, and could recommend Way better places with lower price points.
They offer small portions to share in addition to large entrees. The octopus salad was incredible and one of the best salads I’ve ever had. I also got the wagyu hanger steak with green papaya salad and it was delightful. Both portions were perfect and I ate every last bite and wish I’d ended my meal there but ended up getting the coconut sundae for dessert which was a huge disappointment. The coconut ice cream wasn’t very “coconutty,” the macadamia nuts were too sweet and the cake was just not very good. I’d come here again in a heart beat to have the octopus salad and try other things on the menu but would skip dessert.
We had a very nice meal-
Great venue for breakfast and daytime
Lighting is terrible at night. All of the lighting comes from the ceiling so everyone is sitting in shadows -not romantic at all. More Lighting at table level would help a lot.
Enjoyed all the food but the watermelon salad should’ve been $5 instead of $15- medium quality watermelon and something I could’ve done at home.
Great services and awesome foods! Definitely visit again!!
Truly a wonderful meal! So much that we came back a second night for the octopus and goat cheese appetizer. :)
Best dinner not just this trip but ever!!! Definitely a must do!!!!
We ate at Chefs Table the first night and really had the best experience yet on Maui. Jonathan was the chef on Labor Day, very personable and knowledgeable. Six courses, five savory and one sweet (actually 3 desserts; coconut sundae, guava chiffon cake and chocolate cake). The chef gave each of us a different course that paired very well with our wines. Both started with watermelon salad, then either Kona Kampachi poke or Ahi tataki, followed by grilled octopus (best anywhere) or wagyu hanger steak, next mushroom risotto or fried chicken. The last savory dish was wagyu striploin. Great way to try many of their dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. The entire restaurant staff pampered us the entire evening.
The last evening dinner on Maui was also at Ka’ana Kitchen. Hostess sat us on the balcony with a terrific view of the sunset! Our favorite waiter, John, was there. He knows so much about food and wine, and makes you feel so at ease. Extremely attentive and always makes our experience very memorable. Started with Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay and a Meursault, yum. I had to have the grilled octopus and the fried chicken again, and my wife had the grilled baby romaine and Ahi Bigeye. We also split the lobster creole - a signature dish from Rebecca, the chef that evening. Dessert - coconut sundae and a glass of Royal Tokaji. Again, the food had that wow-factor and the entire wait staff and sommelier are the best. Highly recommend Ka’ana for that special Maui dining experience. Great food, wine, people and ambiance. Just go here.
Our server Jeff was outstanding! Nice splurge while on Maui.
I came to Ka’ana Kitchen 2 yrs ago and have been looking forward to coming back, specifically tasting the risotto again. It did not disappoint. Everything from our drinks to the big eye tuna with cauliflower to attentive service, banking this into my food memory database & hope to come back again. Excellent & innovative food!
The food is meant to be shared and the menu is broken up into small and large plates. We ordered 5 small plates and that was perfect for the 2 of us. We also each ordered a dessert! Really enjoyed the Watermelon Salad and Wagyu Hanger Steak. The Grilled Octopus was the best we've ever had. Get the Coconut Sundae, but skip the Stick Rice Panna Cotta. Service was great and space is beautiful.
Best dining experience in Wailea. Awesome food and wine list. Will return.
Our 49th Wedding Anniversary week.
This was our 8th time here. We love sitting at a table on the Lanai. I can HONESTLY SAY that the experience we had is equal to or surpasses the best restaurants where we use to live; NYC. The kitchen created the most creative and unusual dishes that we’ve ever had there. In the past just about every dish was creative but not in the multi dimensional aspects that were presented to us. Being former Wine Educators from NYC we really take food and wine to a higher level. What we were served compares to Restaurant Pai in Honolulu.
Vacation with family
Everything that we had was delicious!! The dumplings were the best dish we had! Service was great and can’t beat the beach view!
Our server took 25 min to take our order. Returned 15 min later to advise the items we ordered had sold out. Didn’t refill our glasses the entire time or check if we were ok.
This is a must visit in wailea. Creative, fresh twists on Hawaiian classics. And all the wait staff were super helpful and professional. Service was perfect. Highly recommend it.
Great location, service and food. However, the prices are not realistic. Way too expensive and does not encourage a second visit.
Wow! Another fantastic dinner. This time our granddaughter joined us so we decided family style would be the best approach. The staff were great in accommodating us and we “cleaned” our plates for every course. Our 13 year old gave dinner “two thumbs up.”
We stayed at the Andaz and had dinner here as well as breakfast twice. Dinner was very good, but forgettable. The breakfast buffet however was the best I’ve ever had and a MUST if you are in the area. They have SO many options and everythingwas delicious.
Innovative cuisine with good ideas but too complex, not done well. It was also very expensive, especially the wine.
The food, service, and ambiance were incredible! Fantastic restaurant.
Has seen its hey day and now has become the standard hotel restaurant. Very unimpressed.
Jeff our waiter was amazing, walked through our menu without missing a detail. Phenomenal view, amazing food, could have stayed for hours or actually we did. The Andaz is a special place to stay or visit - perfect ending to a great week in Maui!
Enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service were great.
Third time eating here.... will definitely come back again!
Love the concept. Waitress was pleasant but hurried with explaining the menu; which is vast. Cocktails amazing and strong! Kids menu absolutely blows! Understood it’s an upscale restaurant but you could cater a bit more to the families- need more options (peanut butter and honey, grilled chicken and macaroni and cheese are the only choices for kids). I had the lobster and it was delicious. Dessert was scrumptious; coconut cake and ice cream- yum! Resort prices.
Read a lot of very good reviews but food fell short, I thought of all the raves except for the grilled octopus which was exceptional
Cool restaurant. Excellent appetizers. Risotto entree was v good. Local catch entree was disappointing, Undifferentiated flaky fish, somewhat dry accentuated by anchovies. We were gluten free table - substitution was offered but ultimately not available making for small portion. Could be excellent if it had worked.
