Two time Grammy award winner Jeff Peterson calls Michel's home on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday's when he is home in Hawaii.
Just fantastic food and service!
Initial service for water and drinks was VERY slow, as was table service, taking over three hours to finish dinner, and the acoustics of the room make it difficult to hear. For the price, I expect more. Frankly, I was disappointed.
Great view. Excellent service. Superb table-side preparation of lobster bisque, caesar salad, steak diane and cherries jubilee. Live guitar music. No rush to vacate table.
Nice ocean view. Very romantic if it's sunset.
The food is great but thought it's a bit too pricey for this tastes.
Maybe I visited too many good restaurants back in CA....
Very Nice spot i would have liked being offered a window seat and i discovered later they had plenty of them available. We were sat at the back. We ordered our lamb chops medium/well and we had to send them back because they arrived medium rare. Our waiter was professional but not very friendly.
We really enjoyed the food though. Just making a couple of points so they are aware of our experiance.
Everything perfect ! Food and service over the top!
Awesome service & food- views just wonderful! Felt relaxed but special
Amazing as always. Love this restaurant, we make a trip to Honolulu just to go here!
We have dinner here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.
We really enjoy dinner here. Because They can accept my request that I share the dishes with my wife.
I highly recommend this restaurant that’s been operating for decades. My uncle came here many times in 80-90’s. We are fortunate to be able to dine at sunset at this classy restaurant.
A little bit weak on allergy awareness. I asked if the pesto was made with pine nuts or were other nuts substituted. The answers
were, “there are no nuts” and “there are nuts”. We are too far down the line for any restaurant to be unsure of the concept of food allergies, especially a well established high end restaurant
such as this.
We also asked for a sweeter Kit and got the usual amount of cassis in the drink. Not a major fault but indicative of a lack of attention.
We have a fifty year relationship with this restaurant, having eaten there in 1968 on r&r from Vietnam. Last year we dined with
our children and grandchildren. Perhaps the fact that our meal was on a Saturday night with a full restaurant was part of the problem with the service.
The food was very good.
One of my favorite restaurants in the world. I never come to hawaii without dining here at least once. I once flew from California just to dine here
The view were nice. But the food was horrible and the service was unprofessional.
Food was ok- they are skimpy on the lobster meat in their lobster bisque.
Atmosphere was a little loud (definitely not a romantic).
Service was basic to get you in and out until we were at dessert, where waited for 20-30 minutes for a server to take our order.
35 years of going there left us disappointed. Service was not informed or accurate. The guy should not be there. Food was well prepared. Soufflé was very late although ordered at the beginning and not worth the wait. Server error. Very rude table of 4 girls next to us who were drinking much more than eating. Loud and uncomfortable. View and ambience very nice. Each year this restraint gets further away from the 5 star restraunt it use to be.
The food is always excellent. However, on this visit the service was sub par for a restaurant of this quality. We waited maybe 15 minutes to be recognized, he disappeared for extensive times, seemed more concerned with snoozing than paying attention.
This was a very wonderful experience, from the service to the ambience, and the food. Everything was perfect!
Recommended by a long-time friend, Michel's was a special restaurant. The food was "bar-none" outstanding. Each course was impeccably crafted and melted in your mouth. The Caesar Salad prepared table-side was beyond words delicious and the Cherries Jubilee ... poured over specially prepared orange skin was not only spectacular to the eye but amazing to the palate. Whenever we return to Waikiki we'll be certain that Michel's at the Colony Surf is on our Open Table Reservation List.
Amazing experience. Food, wine, and the view. The lobster bisque was outstanding. The lamb and filet we're both equally outstanding. Go for the cherries jubilee - you won't regret it. The service was above and beyond. Would go back daily if it wouldn't break the bank.
A dinner at Michel’s was a wonderful way to spend both a birthday and anniversary. Our server was absolutely outstanding. It was fun watching our tableside Caesar salad being made, and also one of the meat dishes flammed tableside. The special touches included a palate cleansing sorbet between courses and the warm napkins at the end. The food was very favorable and fun! Thank you, and please let our server know she made our evening! Our sunset view topped the evening!
Staff were very attentive to food allergies and removed a plate that might have been cross contaminated. They were also very conscious of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. A staff member quietly indicated to a mother with a crying baby to settle the child away from the eating area.
Michel’s had been recommended to us as a place to celebrate our 30th anniversary- would highly recommend it for special occasion celebrations.
Pretty much paying for the view.
Food was ok, service was horrible. A bug landed in my drink and hoped to get a new one, most high end restaurants would do that instantly. However, they asked if I wanted to purchase another drink.
Waiter was mostly busy with other customers. It was my husbands birthday, but the waiter just passed by with not much to say but slab a birthday plate on the table went off. I would say the sunset view was what you are paying for, but there are many other great restaurants with decent view and greater service.
We love coming here for special occasions. Food is good, staff always attentive!
We had a very nice table by the window (booked months in advance) with a beautiful view of Waikiki Beach all lit up to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary and also 34 years of dining at here every time we visit Oahu.
Times have changed and so has Michel's. While still a very, very nice restaurant, the service style has (even though many dishes are still tableside) dropped a bit since the heydays of the 1980's and the 1990's. We even discovered that our favorite waiter (Jason) had just retired after over 30 years there. It is likely that the restaurant will continue to evolve as more of the "old-times" retire and the new/younger staff takes over.
The food is still very good and a good value for the gourmet experience. Only real bummer is $8.00 for coffee seems a bit pricey.
We were also told that the restaurant interiors would undergo a renovation sometime in 2019.
Had a dinner reservation @ 6:00. Talk about the view ! See the pic below. The Yuzu lemon drop was wonderful as was the food. Loved the seafood appetizer platter. The lamb chops were wonderful.
Excleent service, romantic atmosphere, would strongly recommend for anniversary events
The server Cheoko was great , I probably
Misspelled her name , she noticed my
6 year old were cold , and she immediately
Without hesitation got them two shawls !
Fantastic service, adaption for gluten free no problem and delicious food in an wonderful setting.
We enjoyed our dinner and the tasting menu. We requested an oceanfront table since we were here on our honeymoon and unfortunately they did not have one available even though we requested this well in advance. It would have been nice if they mentioned our honeymoon when we arrived. It’s all about the small things.
A wonderful dining experience. The service and food were superb!
