The Longboard - Sullivan’s Island is the 2nd iteration of The Longboard concept, originally born on St. John [USVI], opened May 2015 in the heart of Cruz Bay. Like the flagship concept, the S.I. location offers light & health fares and creative cocktails inspired by coastal regions around the globe. This location also embraces the rustic, wood-fire cuisine of the group’s other Caribbean locale [The Easterly – St. Thomas], focusing on fresh & local seafood, handcrafted cocktails, and an extensive wine list... all with a Lowcountry focus in mind.

Longboard is so cute on the inside and the drinks are fun and tasty, but the food and the service was subpar. We had a group of 6 and half of the group hated their food. The Tuna poke bowl and the grouper special reportedly were delicious, but everyone who ordered the Surf n Turf said the steak and shrimp were overcooked and dry. The butterbean puree was sour tasting and was off-putting. Our drink order took forever to arrive and none of the staff looked pleased to be there, except for the hostesses up front. Overall, the quality of the food and service does not match the price of the menu items and we all left disappointed.

Loved the vibe here and the food was also really good. Our only issue was we had reservations at 6 and weren’t seated until 6:45. Totally understand that these things happen and the restaurant can’t always control it, but with 3 young children in our group, it was difficult to wait 45 extra minutes. We would have appreciated some sort of acknowledgment of the situation, maybe a complimentary appetizer or even just management coming to address what happened. The hostesses and our server apologized, but there was no management staff that addressed us or our situation, which from a hospitality standpoint, would have made a difference in our overall experience Also, the restaurant charges a 4% convenience fee for credit cards. From a customer standpoint, I would rather pay a few extra dollars for my menu items than see a 4% fee added to my bill. The restaurant could easily add a few dollars to menu items to avoid this fee and customers wouldn’t even notice. An added fee on top of the bill is off-putting. Despite these issues, we would come back and try it again. Really love the atmosphere and the menu was very eclectic!

I made the reservation several months in advance for a special occasion, and we were seated outside with the sun bearing down on us in 95+ degrees temperature. We asked to be reseated and were told no, and that there were “inside” reservations by the hostess. I didn’t have a choice when I made this reservation and we were absolutely miserable the entire time. For paying $400 for the meal, I wish the staff had taken better care of us.

Great food and great service! We love The Longboard and highly recommend for date night or family night. Our evening was made EXCEPTIONAL by our server Reema! She was friendly, attentive, and entertaining. Reema absolutely made our night. Thank you and we look forward to seeing y'all soon!

I had the Chicken Pad Thai and added shrimp. It was not good. The chicken was way overcooked, and the shrimp was small and flavorless. The entire dish had some sort of sauce which failed to come close to the flavor of real Pad Thai. I would have given a lower rating except that my wife's grouper was quite good.

Overall experience was good. Food was hit or miss. Ceviche, oysters, and scallops were great. The Pad Thai was terrible; one of the worst meals we’ve had, maybe ever. Drinks were great. Service was sub-par. The server lacked awareness, did not routinely return to the table, and took 0 action for complaints such as AC leaking on our table, steak being well-done when requested medium, and Pad Thai being untouched at end of dining. For the price-point I’d have drinks and apps at the bar but would not recommend dinner as there are better options in the area. Disappointed in the overall experience.

My wife and I went here for our wedding anniversary, and it was extremely busy and loud. We both ordered the Daily Boat special, which was grilled grouper, black rice, and cucumber and tomato salad, which contained onions. My wife cannot digest onions so we asked for the salad on the side, and the waitress said OK. We also ordered sides of broccolini and Brussels. An hour after we sat down they finally brought our meals. The grouper was fantastic but they had put the cucumber and tomato salad on top of the black rice on both of our plates (not on the side for my wife as requested). In addition, the black rice was a cold dish and we were never informed that it was a cold dish. Who expects to get cold rice? Who likes cold rice? Maybe some people but I think we should have been informed. In addition, the Brussels sprouts were EXTREMELY salty, as though they had been soaked in high sodium soy sauce. We were in a booth next to a large table of 12 very loud and intoxicated tourists. All in all it was a disappointing and mixed experience.

I’ve been to Longboard many times and love the atmosphere and cocktails. However, I have been disappointed that the last two times I’ve been for brunch the espresso machine has been “broken.” They have a list of espresso drinks on their menu and also serve espresso martinis so I’m not sure what is going on. I went for Easter brunch and it was broken. I went for Father’s Day brunch and it was still broken. Service this time was also incredibly slow and it seemed that the brunch servings were smaller than previous times. Hoping this was just a fluke.

I wanted the food to be better for the price. Very small portions and overwhelming acidity, especially on the pad Thai. The drinks were good and the pork chop dish was very good.
