Four of us went for dinner. Three ordered Margaritas I asked for mine without salt. All three came with salt.. Second one person ordered ground beef burrito and she got chicken burrito. Third asked for a side of sour cream. Never got it. Our waitress seemed a bit preoccupied .

Strange city, looking for a true Mexican meal. Found it at El Palacio! Arrived early, so we took advantage of happy hour margarita's - very good! That was just the start - they have a salsa bar - help yourself and mix and match. Again, a nice surprise. Carne Asada beef tacos were excellent as were the pork tamales. Try their own Mexican chicken soup - it came in a large bowl - homemade and very filling - YUM.

We were looking for a 'new' Mexican restaurant to try out while visiting family in the Valley (our go to is Tia Rosa's in Mesa but wanted to branch out a bit) and chose El Palacio based on recommendations from various dining apps. The staff was certainly attentive and helpful - I give them high marks for that; however the food itself was a bit disappointing. Ground beef Chimichanga instead of shredded? Salsa verde with little taste or texture beyond mashed tomatillos? Maybe we set the bar too high with our 'go to' Tia Rosa's but for the money, ambiance, and all around experience of a quality neighborhood Mexican restaurant El Palacio didn't meet our expectations. For a quick lunch or drink in the bar it's probably passable but it certainly isn't somewhere I'd take friends or family to on a regular basis.

We love this place! Truly a neighborhood gem, the staff here always make us feel right at home. Emily, Lauren, and Renee make our visits extra special. They have the best Gold Cadillac margaritas in town!-1/2 price on Mondays :) Their menu has an amazing variety of options not often found in your average Mexican restaurant. I particularly like their seafood soup. They have excellent carnitas rancheras as well . Makes Mondays something to look forward to!

We frequently visit this restaurant for its good food, great friendly service and the relaxed atmosphere. The wide variety of specialty dishes makes El Palacio a step above the others. We also have used their catering services for a few special occasions and we're very delighted with the generous portions. Taco tuesday is always a great excuse to get together and catch up with friends for an inexpensive meal. Thanks for being in the neighborhood.

The restaurant was just ok. Our server had too many tables and we were off in the corner so he didn't get to us much. The kids burgers were overcooked and hard. Kids did not like them. The adult meals were good but it would of been nice if they would of came with a knife.

Good place for a Mexican dinner for the family. Decent food and good service. Prices slightly on the high side, but for the convenience of just driving a mile or two for dinner with the family, I would recommend this place.

This was my first time dining at El Palacio, and I took my teenaged sons. Even though there was a large group waiting for tables, our reservation was honored and we were seated immediately. Chips, two types of salsas and a bean dip were brought out as soon as we sat down. All were good, but we especially liked the bean dip, which was quite a bit better than the usual Mexican restaurant fare. Our drink orders were taken and filled quickly. Then when we began ordering dinner, things went downhill. For some reason our server, although very friendly, contradicted what we wanted, and practically insisted on changing our order. My son wanted the appetizer taquitos and she told him he get them from "the grill instead of the appetizer version." My son acquiesed, as did I when my fried machaca burrito was changed to a chimi - "same thing, but better" according to the server. My other ordered the seafood tostada. The food took forever to arrive, during which time we finished off the chips and salsa and our drinks (refills were slow at this point, too), and just sat there waiting. When the food finally arrived, it was barely warm, the taquitos were grilled - not "from the grill," whatever that meant, not crunchy and swimming in grease, the tostada was a plate full of mostly lettuce, and my chimi was full of stuff that would not have been in the burrito I wanted to order. It was a decent chimi, just not what I wanted. Overall, I would try again and just INSIST on ordering what I wanted to order, and I think I might be more satisfied. But even that wouldn't fix the greasiness of my son's food, the lukewarm temperature of my food, or the fact that the seafood tostada was lacking seafood.

Went primarily because of their involvement with Eat ur Art Out but have been there before and have always loved their food, service and portions. Had friend from Chicago and all three of us enjoyed it greatly. Posole was excellent - was able to contain myself and bring half of it home! Fruity margarita prices (non happy hour) were explained well to ladies but they ordered and enjoyed them a lot.

The maiden of authenticity has been sacrificed upon the altar of mass appeal. The highlight of the visit was the sangria: seriously, one of the best renditions we've had in the Valley. The albondigas was good; so were the machaca enchiladas. Considerably less appetizing were the tamales and the chicken enchiladas. And forget the chile relleno. No flavor, no heat, just a mushy green thing encased in a half-inch layer of batter and served at room temperature. Full marks for our server, though; he did a good job. Perhaps we should have asked him why the allegedly spicy salsa accompanying the pre-dinner chips tasted like kimchi.

El Palacios has one of the best salsa bars in Arizona. We frequent this restaurant at least once a week and typically have a great experience. We love the e-club and the group trivia. Although the service is hit or miss, the salsa bar has us coming back week after week.

This is by far the best Mexican place in the East Valley! They have incredible street tacos, which they have on weekly special for very reasonable prices- order as many as you want with whatever protein you want (plus, you can mix and match). My husband's hands-down favorite dish to order is the "Mexican Flag." You get three enchiladas, one each with red, queso, and green sauces to mimic the flag. It comes with beans and rice, plus unlimited chips and salsa (they serve you a couple, but have a whole salsa bar with many choices that you can help yourself to). A very casual restaurant that is super kid-friendly and their patio is dog-friendly too! We love eating here!

We go here frequently for Taco Tuesday. they raised the price from $1 to $1.50 per taco but it's de worth it. You can choose shredded pork, chicken, or beef or ground beef. Free chips, bean dip and award winning salsa is served with your dinner. They also have beer specials and good margaritas for $4. My kids love to come here too.

We decided to use our open table credit and try El Palacio. The food was good and the server was friendly and efficient. The only thing I was very unhappy about is the bar drink description. I ordered the creamsicle martini hoping for something similar to the ice cream bar. It was basically super strong vodka and orange juice that even my husband said was way to strong. I sent it back for them to lighten up a little and it came back watered down vodka and orange juice. Next time I will probably just order a diet coke.

A bonus is you not only get chips & salsa brought to your table when you sit down, they have an "unlimited help yourself salsa & dip bar"! We've never had bad service as any server we've ever had is always friendly & attentive!

We decided to try a new place, and checked what was available on Open Table first. This restaurant was in the general area of where we wanted to be. They sat us right away, bringing menus, chips and salsa. We ordered the taco salad, Ala Carte 1 (chili relleno and spinach and cheese enchalada) and a combo. ALL of the food was very delicious!! Our waiter was quick, however, he forgot to bring the extra sauces on the side for my husbands combo items. But overall, a very good experience with excellent food.

I can't really comment on the food or ambiance, as this restaurant did not honor the 9 PM reservation that my wife and I had. When we arrived a the restaurant shortly before 9 PM, the closed sign was lit up and the doors were locked despite there still being customers inside. Very unprofessional to not honor a reservation.

We have driven past El Palacio for a while now & had been meaning to try it, but never got the chance until the other day & we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly & our waiter was great. He stopped by our table before bringing another table their order to let us know he would be right with us & was extremely attentive. The food was very good & we thoroughly enjoyed dining here & will be dining here again in the future.

We originally ordered a mojito for my wife and a Malibu rum and cranberry juice for me. The mojito was made with nothing but artificial ingredients and couldn't taste any alcohol. My drink the cranberry was brownish in color and again couldn't even taste the alcohol. For over $7 a drink the quality was embarrassing. The refried beans in the dinner was runny and reddish in colors and didn't taste very good at all. The tamale in my wifes dinner was horrible. I have had better tamales from the frozen section of my local grocery store. The server seemed like she wasn't thrilled and had to be prompted to replace the drinks when we had issues with them. Dount we will be back and definitely will not recommend anyone to this place.

When I think of mexican food, I think El Palacio. My wife and our friends visit El Palacio at least once per week and we are never disappointed. The chips are freshly made (not from a bag like other mexican food places) and the salsa is home made (not tomato sauce from a can like other mexican food places). The staff is incredibly freindly and service has always been fantastic. Prices are very reasonable and they do a great job with daily specials to make the dining experience even more affordable. Good bar area to catch a game or play trivia. Very poplar with locals. Ourstanding overall for sure.

If you want super-salty food, then this is your place. Believe me, you wont be disappointed. The food could be excellent if they just bring the salt down a few notches. In talking to the waiter and the hostess later, we were told that it was the number one complaint but the chef is also the manager, so complaints fall on def ears.

That one one pretty much sums up everything about El Palacio. Arrived at 5:40 for our 5:45 reservation on a Friday evening (first time here, so I wasn't aware a reservation would actually not have been necessary...there was hardly anyone in the place). Hostess was nowhere to be found, so we stood around like mannequins waiting for someone to show up and direct us to our table. Party of 6 was seated at a table that could seat at least twice that, kind of awkward. Sat around for more than 5 minutes before our server presented himself to take our drink orders. Happy hour, so the margaritas were definitely on the weak side. Ordered several different entrees in the group, everything was "okay".

My wife and I were not big fans of Mexican food until we ended up at EP. We soon found ourselves returning for good drinks/food and great conversation with Roy. As luck would have it, Roy tempted us with a mini-dinner appetizer. Soon we were ordering dinner and have tried many delicious dishes having found some favorites! Chef Anthony has also introduced a healthy menu with lighter fare but equally tasty! There are many delicious appetizers, main dishes & desserts (and events)! You are greeted with chips and fresh award-winning salsa & there are daily happy hour specials. EP has been, and continues to be a wonderful dining experience! Hmmm.... Wondering if I should not say too much lest our hidden gem become too well known! ;-)
