My wife and I dined recently at Le Bilboquet to celebrate her birthday. The food was pretty good. Our waiter was nice and very attentive. However, we were seated on the edge of a very busy walkway used by the restaurant wait staff to carry food from the kitchen out to the diners. This was a tolerable situation at first and I didn’t think much of it. We were having a good time and enjoying our experience.
However, during the middle of our meal, while we were eating our dinner, the restaurant made the decision to expand a four-seater table out to a six-seater and sat a full table there immediately next to us. I could hit the diner with my elbow if I wanted to…this person was maybe 12 inches away from me. The main walkway mentioned previously remained busy as expected. Countless wait-staff started “squeezing” by me every 15-30 seconds carrying food out to the diners. I was literally being physically contacted over and over again while eating my food as the staff kept maneuvering by. After about five minutes, again...while we were eating dinner and trying to have conversation, we were interrupted by an employee of the restaurant who asked us if it was OK to “move” our table and this person proceeded to lift our table with his hands and push it further away from the six-seat table they just sat down. My wife and I both had to move our chairs to continue eating and we were consequentially pushed closer to the table on the other side of us, basically pinned in on both sides. At several points, I had to dodge plates with food as they were being carried by. Our experience was ruined. We had to hurriedly finish our meal so we could ask for the check and get out of there. Our waiter understood what was going on and apologized, even offered a free appetizer if we were to come back. However, I am very frustrated to pay high prices for such a poor experience and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Had to wait at the bar, standing, for awhile until our table was available.
Always THE BEST!
can’t wait to go back!
I booked the table over a month ago. We were seated outside at an uncovered or heated front terrace just before a major storm event; we were then moved (upon our own demand) because of the eminent weather event, and given the worst table in the house next to the service station, kitchen and service aisle. We were treated like tourists when indeed we are locals.
The food was barely warm as well as overcooked (halibut and pork chop).
The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend this restaurant.
Really disappointed by the steak au poivre. No pepper flavor. Like they ran out of pepper altogether. Sauce was really displeasing. Steak inconsistent from cold/rare to overcooked on same piece. Really disappointing/ flavorless warm goat cheese salad. The risotto was excellent. Service was prompt and attentive . Didnt bother to complain about the steak but will definitely pass on this restaurant in the future
Took a friend to dinner for her birthday - we celebrated with wine and the cajun chicken (just too good not to order). The service was excellent, and the food even better.
Bilboquet is the perfect brunch place in Dallas- bright, upscale, well-located, and moderately priced. The food and staff are wonderful as well! This is our go-to brunch spot from now on!
Excellent food. Service can be spotty. At times attentive then the waiter will seemingly vanish for long period of time.
Lovely ambiance, excellent service and stellar food are the hallmarks of Le Bilboquet. Maitre'D was very helpful in working us in when our open table reservation was accidentally on wrong date.
Grilled Romaine continues to be my favorite starter. My companion had the grilled artichoke salad. No grilled flavor and pretty ho-hum compared to the romaine salad.
Trout special was good, but had a bit of a "muddy" or earthy taste I have never experienced with trout before. Halibut was lovely as usual. brussels sprouts were a bit under-cooked for my taste but nice anyway. Birthday chocolate mousse with sparkler was a highlight.
We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Very happy we did. It's not too small nor too big - just the right amount of intimacy - but enough noise that you feel your conversations are private. The lighting is nice and they opened all the windows to the sidewalk and turned on the outside heaters which have such a nice glow. Our food was excellent as was our waitstaff. There was a little hiccup when our waitress apparently got "cut" for the evening and the girl who took over didn't pick up the reins very quickly, but when we got someone's attention everything was smooth after that. They brought us a very nice chocolate mousse to share as a surprise and we really enjoyed it. It's a very beautiful restaurant and the staff are very attentive. And of course our food was excellent.
Food was great. Only complaint is that my tacos came out cold twice.
Love the whole vibe.
We live o/t half the year & we are always welcomed by Edward & Stephan and FOH...no matter how long we’ve been away. That puts Le B.@ top of out dining list. Michele A.
Delicious food. American worth a french twist.
Once again the evening was amazing! The food as always was incredible as was the service. We were seated at a some what small table and once a larger table became available we were moved..... Always a professional staff and service!
Went there to celebrate my friend’s birthday. It was my first time to visit and I absolutely LOVED the place. Will definitely be back.
Food is always good, but service is always less than what we would expect at this kind of restaurant. We come back expecting the service to be better and it’s not, but the food is good and we love the ambiance. Really a shame.
Sadly, I was not impressed with much. They made a good Manhattan and the filet was good , although lukewarm when served. I had The Apple pie/tart dessert and it was truly awful .
Simply fantastic. Very authentic. Desserts included profiteroles (with ice cream—not poor substitute of eclairs filling), tarte tatin, floating island, etc. couldn’t ask for more.
Authentic Paris Bistro experience alive and well. Noise level is the only challenge, one would have the same challenge in Paris, though. Frog legs, veal, lamb and duck all delish. The whole experience was topped off by such excellent customer service. Very attentive. Bisous (kisses) to Le Bilboquet.
The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. I highly recomend this restaurant.
We are NEVER disappointed when we dine at Le Bilboquet! We were seated outside as requested for my husband's birthday. It was perfect. Our waiter was attentive and helpful and the food was delicious as always. The scene is vibrant and exciting filled with people and laughter. It's just a great spot. Can't wait till we go again! Thank you!
Birthday. Great place and great seevice
Superb food! Great prices- and the best restaurant neighborhood in town! Our new favorite for brunch!
Celebrated my friends birthday lunch there. Three other birthdays also going on at lunch time. The food was delicious. Our server was very nice but it seemed like he had a huge area to manage. The birthday dessert was great fun! Parking can be interesting. Not sure where to park. Valet was not outside.
Great- they were so sweet and brought a dessert for my friends birthday!
Le Bilboquet is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas, and I have been a regular there since it opened. The food and ambiance is superb. Notably, for the last few months I have been on a highly restrictive medical diet... They were not only accommodating to the restrictions, but it was hands-down the best dinner I have had since starting the program three months ago.
The service was very good, the food was nice. The risotto special was very good as well as the desserts. Red wine by the glass, no good cabs.
The outdoor dining area that is covered is very loud.
Le Bilboquet is an excellent restaurant on the Dallas dining scene. Cozy, creative, excellent menu - worth the trip. Neighborhood gem - a variety of options including steak, fish and their special cajun chicken. Reminds you of a French Bistro.
Always consistently good per my last review. Angel hair with crab was stellar. Cajun chicken with frites always a crowd pleaser. Great bottle of Billecart. What’s not to like???
FANTASTICAL!! Ran and Jan
Love this place. Always consistent food and service..
This was our first visit and we will definitely return. Absolutely charming and elegant without pretentious atmosphere. Very attentive staff without feeling overwhelmed. Food was tremendous. Presentation, serving size, execution all spot on.
This was my 3rd visit and it did not disappoint and I had the salad
with pulled chicken and my friend had the burger. The dessert birthday mousse was
Festive and yummy!!
Great experience. Everyone was super nice and paid attention to detail. Water glass was always full, meal was perfect temp and just wonderful.
It was a bad night ! Crowded and noisy! People standing in our faces at the table next to us
Chatting !! For an extended period of time ! So loud we could not talk ! Please tell people not to visit at tables because there is not Enough room . I had 2 guys rears in my face for 15 minutes ! We left !
You place is too small !
Superb meal as always. Local haunt. Popular in Dallas.
My favorite restaurant , but for the first time the chicken was not good. 😢 it was a busy Saturday day and the wait staff was friendly but disappeared.
