This was my first visit to the Culinary Institute of America. American Bounty was a wonderful experience. The menu offerings were plentiful and varied- it was hard to decide what to order. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, from the bread to appetizers to main course and dessert. My guest and I had grilled asparagus and crab cakes to start. For our main course we had lamb and salmon. For dessert we had the most delicious flourless chocolate cake I’ve ever had. The service was excellent too. It was a delightful experience.

The servers were very professional. However, we were disappointed that they didn't have all the selections on the menu. A SUGGESTION - Please have the servers inform the guests when they are given the menu if there are items that have changed or not available. This would make it easier to decide in a timely manner. We had to make a hasty decision when we were informed that there was no rack of lamb or bourbon cocktail when we were giving our order. If we had known before, it would have given us a little time to think about our other options.

Service was lacking. Plates were not cleared. Food served with no utensils. Basically poor service for a restaurant of this caliber.

Our server was very attentive, however, my soup and salad were brought together and I felt ver rushed. My soup was hot another at our table had soup and it was only warm and it was not what she ordered. She sent it back. The cappuccino was cold for my table mate and somewhat hot for me. She sent hers back to be warmed. I’m not used to this at the CIA.

We enjoyed our dinner at American Bounty. The food was delicious, and well plated. We had cocktails, appetizers, dinner and dessert. Seafood for myself, shrimp and grits as an appetizer and cioppino for the entre. Both were good, but the shrimp and grits were a bit bland. Oyster jambalaya was the other dish, it was very good. Dessert was profiteroles and sweet corn ice cream w/blueberry syrup and glazed corn flakes (perhaps the highlight of the meal.) We were a bit disappointed with the service, I realize the servers are students, but our server was not very engaging or friendly. The service was efficient, but a bit more interaction with us would have been better. All in all a good experience and we would return to try one of the other restaurants at CIA.

We were fortunate to reserve with less than 3 weeks in advance. I’ve been urged to dine here many times and at a 7pm seating were continuously pleased at every turn. This is fine dining as it should be. Granted, it’s one of the worlds great culinary schools, but nary a hiccup and a most pleasant evening, which our server topped with an after dessert kitchen tour. Kudos all around for the C.I.A. May their graduates go on spreading more wonderful experiences. And oh yes, Thanks to Abbie who I think is a natural host and am anxious to watch her future in the marvelous world of dining.

Everything was fabulous!!! We arrived early for our reservation but were not delayed and promptly seated. The menu was outstanding especially with the 40th anniversary additions. We ordered from both menus. We sampled many many many options and were able to split servings with no indication of it being inconvenient. I cant wait to return. Thank you for exception food and exceptional service!

For me, dining here is about supporting CIA and their students. It is about letting students use you as a learning tool. It is not about a great meal experience with terrific food and service. It is not an inexpensive meal based on what or how ends up in front off you. So, I’ve eaten here twice now. Both times food has been fine-ish and the service, although enthusiastic, is mediocre. Food is either not cooked to correct temp, incorrectly seasoned, grainy when it should be smooth, rubbery when crispy is the point, etc. Our servers have always been nice. They really want you to enjoy your experience. During either visit they’ve never been able to describe what is on offer or correctly answer questions. So you get it from my POV: the food is priced as though you are going to get it prepared and delivered, by professionals, as represented on the menu. I have never received that level of competence while dining there. However, I’ve always been treated kindly and I want CIA to continue training our next generation of hospitality professionals so I will continue supporting their campus restaurants.

We were three couples who drove from Connecticut for a night out and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our server was Sophia and she was GREAT! Our water (and wine!) glasses were always filled and Sophia put up with our many questions and changes to our order all with a smile! Definitely worth the drive!

Disappointing at best, who was teaching in the kitchen and keeping up standards? The Trumpet Mushroom and grilled asparagus was terrible. One mushroom cut in half, scored and grilled with little to no color or flavor. It would have been a good idea to trim the woody part of the stem off as well. Six asparagus, three white and three green were untrimmed or peeled. The bottoms were woody and stringy. This was the worst vegetarian dish and an insult to the customer. Other entrees were equally disappointing. The baby octopus portion was one half of the baby octopus. Four tiny legs and a plate of garnishes that were unremarkable. The scallops and pork belly lacked any pork belly that was edible and the sear on the scallops was lacking. The tile fish was tiny and covered with crushed black peppercorn to the point where it was inedible. The skin was left on but was not seared and was spongy and disgusting. There must be a Chef instructor in the kitchen to supervise but it seemed as if there was no supervision to insure good food and standards. The dishes themselves were tiny portions not worth the cost. Service in the dining room was slow and there were many times where we had to track down someone to help us. What happened to a once great restaurant? Whoever was in charge should be fired and replaced. A disgrace!

Incredible experience from students learning the business. If this wasn’t a learning institute, American Bounty would definitely have a Michelin star. Service was friendly and professional. The food was on point, desserts were the perfect encore to the evening. I don’t know, to me they killed it!

Been a long time fan of the CIA but the past few times have been disappointing. The restaurant is fine, but no longer special. Back in the day, it was exciting and interesting. Today it was no different from the class of "better" restaurants in the area. Fact is, the meal was pricey and I prefer trying other, local restaurants rather than going back.
