Lovely place for luncheon conversation with an old friend, with especially good food and very attentive but not at all intrusive service. What more could one ask for? Kudos to the entire staff.
Service is always good. Chicken soup and caesar salad were great as well. You can't go wrong here. Great ambiance.
Love the drinks and food for the taste and originality. Don’t like the noise.
Great ambiance and not too loud. Excellent margarita and amazing small plate selections!
Strong smokey taste to both the shrimp and meat tacos.
The food was delicious. The drinks with spicy peppers were not spicy which were a real disappointment for me. But it will not deter me from coming back. Love this place so much!!
Excellent, Food. Service was exceptionally good. All in all very impressive. We will return and bring friends
I really liked the place, but the food was not ready in time for everyone and we could not eat together, but outside of that everything was very good. I enjoyed the dinner.
The salted foam on the margaritas, the customized freshly made guacamole, the warm tortilla chips, the creative use of ingredients, the friendly and attentive staff, the colorful, lively space...I could go on and on. Our best meal while visiting the DC area over Veteran’s Day weekend with our kids.
My friend and I came here for my birthday dinner. We were seated briefly in the bar before our table
Been to this restaurant several times a year over last 6 years or so -- never ever disappointed and absolute best margaritas in DC!
Food and drinks were amazing! Our server Amir H was excellent, he was friendly, diligent and gave great recommendations
Reunion of college roommates!
It was amazing! Great waiter, great service & great food!
The food wS delicious as well as the cocktails. The noise level doesn’t allow for conversation.
Always a fantastic choice!!!! One of my go to spots in DC for a work lunch!
Great food and great decor! Very creative menu and thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Wonderful meal celebrating my 7 yo son's birthday. He loves Mexican food and is a seafood-loving adventurous eater, so it was perfect. As a family with kids, the tapas style was perfect too for being able to try a little of many things. The service was OUTSTANDING - if I could give more than five stars I would. They were so attentive to our family needs. I would say this place does not specifically cater to kids, but does really understand dining with kids - both in term of bringing things fast, seating us in a quieter section of the restaurant, and having suggestions for items that kids might like or where spiciness could be adjusted. As far as food was concerned, I could have been happy with the tableside guac, homemade chips and excellent house margaritas! Standouts were the tuna ceviche, hearts of palm salad, camarones, and for my less adventurous 4 yo kid, the bisteca with potatoes and queso fundido hit the spot. Would come back any time I'm in DC!
Great experience as usual! And front of house staff were very gracious when we had to add 2 more people to our party last minute. Food was a little hit or miss, but the cocktails, margaritas, and dessert were truly amazing. Service was wonderful as well!
The food was amazing and I will definitely go back but there is something that I don’t like and that’s the problem in most American restaurants, it is TOO LOUD.
You can barely hear yourself or your date talk, it’s terrible!
Overall it was a good experience!
GUACAMOLE! All day I could eat their guac. It's the BEST! The chips are handmade, fresh, spicy. Another must is the sweet potato tamale with black beans. It's to die for. The margaritas are light and one of the best. My Sister loves the pork tacos. This is a place you will crave later. I absolutely love it.
Fantastic as usual.
Authentic Mexican (read: not Tex-mex) with plenty of original twists on classic dishes. Excellent margarita and mezcal drinks.
Really Enjoyed the Small Plates and the Flavor Profiles that Chef had Created...Mexican Kicked Up Several Notches. Similar to What I would Enjoy in an Upscale Restaurant in Mexico City, with Flair, Festive Culinary Based Cuisine with Bold Flavors and Presentations.
And Fun and Funky Decor, with Innovative Drink List and Great Mezcal List, a rarity!
Oyamel always has great food! Everything tastes super fresh. They have a separate menu for food allergies as well. Fantastic margaritas!
Service was non existent. We had to ask for service and orders several times. The waitress explained how their dishes were excellent for sharing which they turned out not to be. Not a good experinece overall.
Another great Jose Andres restaurant with bright, super tasty food and drinks! You must have the guacamole. Would also highly recommend the ceviche with ahi tuna. Service was top notch as well.
Food was delicious and service was suberb. We really loved the queso fundido!
Best Brussel sprouts ever! I will definitely come back.
Truly good and authentic Mexican food. We didn't have the Chiles en Nogada this time (now inly for dinner we were told). Tacos de chapulines, pastor and tongue all great. Also great tamal with Poblano mole. Margarita pitcher was a bit expensive, but good. We'll return many times.
We were here before and it was fantastic. Today ALL of our dishes were overly salted. Probably won’t return.
Another quality José Andrés’ restaurant. Very generous portions, delicious food, attentive service in a casual environment.
Reasonable. However, it would be helpful if they were more flexible modifying reservations.
Everybody in our group loved everything we ordered. The food came out quickly, it was authentic and delicious. The server was attentive and polite. The restaurant is so high energy and fun - absolutely loved the ambiance.
Enjoyed the chayote salad immensely. The cochinita pibil taco also great! Margarita delicious.
My favorite restaurant in DC. Great atmosphere, inventive cuisine (grasshoppers featured), and tremendous margheritas.
I could not stop eating. I have always loved the food here. Jose Andrés is an amazing cook! Recommended 100%
OH MY GOD!! That’s all I can say!! The food was ridiculous! Every bite was a new adventure. I recommend bringing a partner and ordering three to four items to share. The drinks were pricy but worth it. I highly recommend the blood orange margaritas. The noise level was high so better for smaller parties. Definitely will be visiting again.
Their Guacamole is amazing and Cafe Dello desert is superb
Honestly it was one of the worst meals I've had. There was very little flavor in the red snapper dish. It just sat on top of some flavorless mushy bean (some rice would have been good). The fish taco was okay, but for $4.50 you should get two. I normally don't have a problem finishing my dessert, but the cafe de olla was disappointing also. I had high hopes that it would be great but sadly it was not. The guacamole was good and my mojito wasn't bad but couldn't tell if it had any alcohol in it. Won't be back. Had to stop at McDonald's on the way home!!
