Iris is named for the celebrated Mediterranean flower, and as a gentle nod to the “Evil Eye”, a regional legend known to ward off evil and bring great luck. Located in an iconic building of Midtown Manhattan, Iris is a restaurant that aims to showcase the best preparations of the Eastern Mediterranean region. The ambition behind this culinary initiative is to focus on the style of eating rather than the provenance of each dish. Approachable, wholesome and minimally manipulated, the cuisine will show another facet of the ingredient-forward cuisine that has built John Fraser’s reputation.

Iris is new to us and it is sophisticated little modern Greek place in midtown. Excellent private booths made it a wonderfully cozy anniversary experience. The grilled eggplant was delicious, the Greek-inspired drinks were delicious and unique. The staff was friendly and charismatic. We had a great time.

Wonderful Happy Hour menu which we added to from menu. Enjoyed relaxing, great bar service!! Will be back for sure!

Food outstanding, different from the usual Mediterranean with culinary twists & surprises all along . Service is superb with attentive staff - not intrusive but with watchful concern for wants… From drinks to desert our table of 4 left satiated & happy. Waiter Eric had a good sense of humor & ready wit ….

If you love, baklava and pistachio nuts, this is the best baklava you will ever taste. Or let me amend that, the best baklava I have ever tasted, and I have been eating it wherever I can find it for many decades. It is more ground nuts than phyllo , and the ground pistachio filling is layered with so many flavors, including wine. Plus, there is a generous sprinkling of pistachio nuts around the plate, enabling me to consider this dessert as protein.

An excellent choice for a pre-theater meal. The spreads are excellent while other dishes that we tried were very good. The charge for the pita bread seems a bit excessive.
