from the very effecient , attentive service to the extraordinary food our experience was wonderful. I was eating light on this wintery night and choose the pumpkin soup. The soup with those divine buttery rolls hit the spot. My husband had the salmon which was cooked just then way he likes it crispy on the outside and flaky tender on the inside. I had to resist ordering a second Moscow mule made with their homemade ginger beer. we will return to try the rest of the menu.
We really enjoyed our meal. Sea bass and mussels are amazing. We also loved the lime tart.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner and attentive service after a day at museums in the area. They were very welcoming on a stormy day and we quickly turned our attention to the interesting and fresh menu. Just what we were looking for... not the same old Italian, something really unique. I had a fantastic sea bass prepared with an Asian accent. Let me just say YUM!
NOPA is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. Relaxed, elegant, beautifully laid out, the bar area is a great place to stop off for a cocktail and quick bite while the dining room offers a warm ambience conducive to an unrushed, impeccable dining experience. Menu is small but varied with creative, delicious and beautifully presented plates, wine list is excellent, service is terrific; personal, friendly without being overbearing. It’s quickly becoming a favorite!
i have enjoyed this restaurant many times. For my recent visit I arranged to have 3 friends join me for a pregame dinner with bottle of wine. we all ordered the short ribs. very tasty but they all came out (of the microwave?) not very hot. Also, when we asked for the check to be split four ways, two persons received the right dollar amount, another got twice the correct amount, and the fourth got a tab for the whole bill. Really disappointing.
Very good food. The NoPa burgers was awesome. Wife loved the short ribs. Food came out quickly and staff was very helpful.
We had great seating by the big bay window and service was amazing. Wine list was impressive. However, food was not that great. Very few choices to pick from and not many small plates to go with wine.
Lovely time, as always. We feel so welcomed and so well taken care of by all on the staff.
I appreciate that the host had read our request to be seated in a warm spot (which we include in our open table reservations). We had a nice evening of drinks & dinner & made it to our show on time without feeling rushed or delayed.
I went to NoPa with a friend. We were early, so we had tea in the bar area. When we finally did have dinner, the food was delicious -- particularly the entrée, which was superb. The service, from the bar manager, to the maitre d', to the server, was impeccable. We felt extremely well cared for.
Always an interesting menu with lots from which to choose. There were two of us, and we ordered several appetizers to share: duck bratwurst, (pork) meatballs, fall salad, and brussel sprouts. It was plenty of food for two, especially with the terrific dinner rolls. Nice list of wines by the glass. My only "complaint" is that the dinner rolls were not hot, fresh and fluffy as they have been in the past. It seemed to me that they were either day-old or microwaved. Still delicious. The wait staff are friendly, competent, and attentive. The building is gorgeous and so well located. It's one of our favorite pre-theater restaurants.
This chef is fantastic. Service is up to the high standard of the food
We had a dinner for a party of six on Monday which is, of course, generally a slow day. Perhaps due to that, we were lucky to receive almost undivided attention from our very knowledgable server who explained in great detail how the kitchen sourced the food locally and how every dish was made from scratch in-house. The food was indeed of excellent quality and we really enjoyed the experience. The portions were not huge but quite satisfying, and all the meals were cooked perfectly.
We went to Nopa before a Caps game. The food was super. One of had salmon. Two had short ribs and one a burger. The entrees were all delicious. The rolls are to die for!
Our waiter was fun and right on the spot. It a great destination in Penn Quarter.
First time eating here. It was PERFECT. Truly excellent burger, fries, and side rolls to make my night a whole lot more memorable. Beautiful atmosphere and great, helpful service! Definitely would eat here when I come back to the city! Good views of the Art Museum from where I was sitting as well! Bottom line: A must-visit!
Nopa is an ideal place for a business lunch. Service is highly professional and attentive. The ambiance is pleasant but relatively quiet. the menu is interesting and entrees are delicious. Pricing is reasonable. This is my "go to" business lunch venue.
Service was friendly, but not intrusive, and the food was fresh, seasoned to perfection, and prepared masterfully. The nopa burger was outstanding, and the sea bass congee exceeded my expectations.
We enjoyed a delicious meal to celebrate our anniversary. The space is quiet, up the stairs from street level with a view of the portrait gallery. Our server was attentive and helpful. The food was terrific. The location is perfect for an after dinner walk along the mall.
This is a great place for an early dinner before a sporting event at capital one arena. We got there when it opened at five. They were very welcoming and we had great service. This was a return visit for me, but a first time for my friend. Great table by a window and we loved our food. Thanks to our waiter we got the octopus appetizer and it was so good-really tender. Short ribs and gnocchi also excellent. A great experience! We will be back.
Good food, great service.
Good food , large portions
Terrific experience, very friendly and accommodating bartenders. Excellent food with sensible, tasteful portions, selection of ingredients and presentation. We walked in randomly for a quick drink and were pleasantly surprised, stayed for lunch, came back for dinner, then back again the very next day for a last lunch bite before heading back out of town. Highly recommended!
We were pleasantly welcomed to a lovely modern decor and friendly receptionist who took us to a roomy table at the window--our hoped-for. Wish I'd gotten the lovely young waitress' name to comment her, as she was considerate, friendly, eager to help, and attentive.
I always enjoy this quiet, sophisticated restaurant. Our server was lovely and knowledgeable. The meal was yummy and it is quiet enough for a personal catch up dinner
Eduardo and the entire NOPA team were amazing as always! Food was exceptional, service was impeccable. I’m a huge fan of the ever changing menu, erythema deviled eggs.
This is a great Peruvian restaurant which happened to be two blocks from the hotel where we were staying. We didn't arrive until around 10 PM, so it was quiet but the staff was interested in going home. The meals were wonderful, my wife had a tomato gnocci and I had the braised beef short rib, and we both thought are meals were delicious. The service was impeccable, and it was nice to have a quiet atmosphere.
Been awhile since I have been to this favorite of mine, and the usual combo of a nice setting, good and quick service was there. BUT the gem of the lunch was the (for me) new ramen bowl. I've always wanted to see more light dishes on the menu, and this one was both delicious and very light.
First time at Nopa -- but it wont be our last. Food was delicious and decently priced. We were a group of four and we shared appetizers and main dishes because we all wanted to try everything. Special props to the brussel sprouts, tuna tartare and short ribs.
Retro, eclectic decor with brick wall divided spaces & although it’s not my favorite look, it did feel kind of cozy, casual and comfortable. The food was very good. We went for dinner during restaurant week. Three courses, more than enough food. We chose Beef Coulette Steak with Bearnaise sauce and the other was the Braised Beef Short Rib. Both came with delicious sides beautifully plated. We particularly loved the rosemary biscuits they serve, best ever!!
Excellent restaurant week menu, with selections from the entire entree menu possible. Attentive and cordial service from our server, Colletta. And, in contrast to many DC restaurants, possible to hold a conversation without shouting. Overall, a fine dining experience in a well located restaurant.
Consistently good food and service
Went for the DC restaurant week menu, 3 course dinner. Especially liked that we were able to chose our entree from the regular dinner menu. Food was very flavorful with a beautiful presentation. The chicken was tender and juicy and the beef short ribs were cooked to perfection and fell apart with a fork.
the best of summer produce combined with the chef's creativity for a wonderful presentation led to a truly yummy experience. We were there for the prix fixe occasion of tomatoes and peaches. Go with a friend who loves to share and you'll get tastes of all the offerings. While I won't create the tastes of NoPa's chef, the watermelon gazpacho and tomato-peach dessert tart on my to-do list before the summer's produce run out. The staff's friendly and dedicated attention to detail gave us a very calm evening meal. And access via metro makes NoPa a terrific weekday evening time with friends.
Service was very attentive, but some dishes were overpriced. The overall taste of the food was just good, making the cost seem even higher than it was.
Great night catching up with family. Loved the menu and the food preparation and service was excellent. They really excelled at helping to accommodate food allergies. Very appreciated. Lovely night.
Great place and good food with excellent service. We were there for brunch after visiting National Portrait Gallery and it was a perfect brunch.
Was able to have wonderful business social conversation! Food and atmosphere wonderful!
We wanted to find a brunch before a Sunday movie and read good reviews of NoPa. The menu is somewhat limited but what they serve is excellent. We were eating on the early side, so the restaurant was not crowded, but the setup seems good to allow a reasonable conversation, something we very much appreciate. And the service was very good, attentive without hovering. This is definitely on our list for future times.
Jon J was my server . He was excellent! He suggested items , which all sounded wonderful. I ended up getting the beef tartar. It was amazing. Jon also gave me wine recommendations & had me try a beautiful Chilean rose . I’ll definitely be back
NoPa Kitchen & Bar, located across the street from the National Portrait Gallery and just a block away from the Capital One Center in DC's Penn Quarter, is a terrific restaurant choice for both locals and tourists visiting any of the numerous cultural and event venues in the neighborhood. The menu offers numerous choices and creative cuisine. Happily, the kitchen delivers delicious dishes, prepared as ordered. Service is both friendly and attentive.
