I took my teenagers for brunch on Easter. I know from previously working in the restaurant business that holidays with extremely high volume can be tricky for restaurants. That being said, my food came out lukewarm at best. I wasn't upset but I was frustrated that my daughter's fish and chips came out with a soggy sesame seed breading. We love fish and chips and have never seen breading like this. I feel the server could've recognized that a teenager was expecting traditional fish and chips, soft sesame seed breading is not the norm, and that she would've simply mentioned that to us. After waiting a very long time for our food, my daughter knew it was not an option to make another selection. She ate some of her fries and a few bites of the fish inside the breading. I was disappointed that she didn't get to enjoy her meal.

I expected more from SALT. The food lacked any inspiration or interest. The wine list was limited. The service was just okay - nothing remarkable. And, the prices were excessive. It reminds me of a TGIF that's not quite up to corporate standards trying to mascarade as a high end restaurant. In a town of great eatery options, I would try somewhere else.

The food was ok to good maybe. Nothing wrong with it other than the price. 2 appetizers, a cup of soup and a small salad with 2 glasses of the low end wine + tip $80 +. I'm not trained as a chef, but I know I could have done those at home somewhat better. However; if you have a packed house with ok food and stupid high prices, why would you change? You wouldn't! Congratulations! That is a great business model.

A recent dinner there was quite good. Unfortunately our waiter hadn't checked with the kitchen and a couple of the first things we ordered (at 7:00) were gone (and he confessed that chef fussed at him). But everything we ordered was tasty and well prepared. We'll be back.

We really enjoyed the fish special of the evening. Swordfish prepared in a different fashion. Oysters were tasty as well. One of the best fish dinners we have had in a while. Local customers to Sullivans.

I would not recommend the bistro steak with old bay frites. Everything else (seafood, cornbread, oysters, wine) was delicious. Service was outstanding and ambiance is casual. I will definitely be back to try something else!

The music was way too loud for dinner and was such a random selection it was distracting. Beach Boys followed by Presidents of the United States followed by Bob Marley. The seafood was pretty good, but the side item selection was lacking. The season vegetable was a huge portion of sautéed mushrooms. Disappointing for such a popular area.

We went to SALT because we were unable to get in to Obstinate Daughter. There were a lot of empty tables when we arrived and only a few people arrived after we did. The server was great as was the manager who gave us a few extra wines to sample. The problem was the food. The salmon was just ok and the rest of the dish was rather flavorless. One diner had raw oysters and was happy with them. I won't return to Salt any time soon.

The Shrimp & Grits were very good. My husband got fish & french fries. The fries had a LOT of Salt. My husband nor I could eat the fries. The fish was a little greesy. Fried Green Tomatoes were good, but needed to be cooked a little more.

Had the Amberjack which was a fresh fish of the day and it was outstanding! Nice crust, moist. Brussel sprouts on the side. This was our first visit to salt and would definitely return. Bar is welcoming and would be a good place for a drink and some selections from the raw bar.

I have had brunch here before and that was great. However, our dinners were a disappointment. There were 6 of us and we all ordered something different. One of us thought our meal was great. We were one of 3 or 4 tables in the whole place so the kitchen could have put some effort into our meal. We didn't all order off of the Restaurant Week menu, so I don't believe that would be the issue. Shawn (Sean), our server, was great. He made the night great but the meal was not worth the price, sadly.

Went there during Restaurant Week (3 for $30) Made reservation on Open Table and got right in. We had Crab soup, Salmon Special with mashed potatoes & aspargus, and a chocolate torte/coconut cake. It was excellent and just enough (since it is a tasting menu). Would go back there again when visiting Charleston.

The food was good. I ordered a onion, bacon, and cheddar omelette. It was enormous, too big, and mostly onion. I could not eat most of it and it did not tempt me the next day as a leftover. My companions enjoyed the Crab Benedict and Home Fries very much. The menu for children is rather limited.

My daughter & I made a reservation at SALT during Charleston's restaurant week as we had heard great things about their seafood. Outside of the fresh oysters on the half shell, which did come from VA and were very good, we were very disappointed with the food. The service was fine, but the whole experience was much to slow. The friend freen tomatoes app was prepared using some type of tempura batter that lacked texture and taste. This item is a southern staple that we were attracted to b/c of the goat cheese mousse, but it was pretty much flavorless. I ordered the grouper (roasted) per server's recommendation and was presented w/ a huge plate prepped attactively w/ the mustard condiment on the plate and a piece of majorly overdone fish. The mustard prep was tasty, but it was the only thing with flavor on the plate. My daughter's beef was probably the redeeming order, but the sides were all overdone..even the asparagus which didn't have the tough ends even removed. We splurged on the gruyere mac n' cheese and basically were presented w/ plain, dried out pasta w/ a little cream and cheese on the bottom. All the hype we'd heard didn't measure up on this evening. Perhaps it was just busy. However, if your bill is over $100 for two w/ no dessert, I would hope to want to come back. We would consider the raw bar, but that's the only thing calling us back. On the positive side, the compimentary valet parking was a huge plus especially for someone navigating new territory in the dark.

We are longtime frequent customers (having been coming since it was Sration 22 to years ago with the amazing cheese bread). But the brunch was not very good. Second brunch we've been to this summer at SALT, and both visits were disappointing. As well, the mimosas were overly sweet and had very little champagne in them. We were told they were "premixed", so that could not be remedied. Not sure we will be back. Removing the ceviche from the menu this year was also a huge disappointment.

Great raw bar with a nice selection of oysters served with fresh horseradish. Fresh fish selection was also excellent. I had the blackened local grouper and it was cooked perfectly and the spice was perfect. If you like cole slaw definitely get theirs. It has a great crunch and the dressing is fabulous. Also had the creamy grits which were also great. Key lime pie for dessert rounded off a truly great meal. I would defiantly recommend Salt to a friend and I will be back the next time I am in Isle of Palms.
