Unfortunately, this dinner was fair at best. I had eaten at NN several years before and I recall the food and service being a lot better. The portions were smaller and not as flavorful. Too bad, the neighborhood could benefit from great Vietnamese cuisine.

Nightingale 9 does not disappoint. Perfect, welcoming, helpful but not intrusive service, healthy ingredients, creative dishes, moderate portions neither too large or too small. Favorite dishes gotham greens salad, spring rolls, vegetarian fried rice, scallion pancakes, coconut rice pudding. They have creatively incorporated their former southern US style for a unique spin on Vietnamese dishes.

Open Table took our reservation and we were looking forward, but Nightingale Nine was closed! Is our beef with the restaurant or Open Table? My suggestion is let your patrons know if you are closed BEFORE they trudged over in the snow. This is a problem !!!

I met my wife for dinner following her meeting in Brooklyn joining her from Manhattan. I had walked past Nightingale Nine while I was waiting for her and the restaurant looked inviting and the menu had some interesting non-traditional asian courses. We love new dining experiences so gave it a go. The waitress was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful in making choices from the menu. We had the spring rolls wrapped in mint and lettuce. So delicious. Because the wattle pork chop portion was large, we split it combined with a wok bok choy. The combination was superb. Highly recommend. This is a true find. To top it off we arrived in time for Happy Hour. A wonderful evening before our drive home.

I have been to Nightingale Nine twice and both times enjoyed it. This time we started with the duck salad and spring rolls and as full plates had the trout and the pork. All were tasty, well presented and well prepared. My only compliant was that the menu had changed so totally in the two months since I had been there last that nothing I recognized is now available. I'm all for change, but when you go back to a restaurant it's often because you crave what you had there last time - so too much change can be a bad thing. Service, BTW, both times was excellent.

I am a regular at Smith Canteen and so when I realized Nightingale 9 was by the same owner I wanted to try it. I met up with our foster son, an art student, and a very very particular foodie friend from Manhattan (ie - a tough crowd) and we were all impressed. Esp I like the feeling that even in NYC there are places to get a good meal w/o breaking the bank. The Pho was tasty, the duck amazing and the pork succulent. I will definitely be returning.

Lovely and surprising menu - (the duck was amazing). The only reason it was not five stars is that the cocktails were a little disappointing. The ideas behind their signature cocktails were fun, but the execution less so. Wait staff was lovely and attentive. It was a delight to be have the noise level low enough to actually be able to hear my dinner guests!

Great staff, very friendly . Truly a fusion menu not just mixed dishes . Their chocolate pot de creme is brilliant , the pho is fresh and crisp on flavor , the organic chicken really had a great texture and favor to it . This is my 4 th time dining there ... Only problem is that the airconditioning could not handle the 95 F degree outside heat .... It was a bit toasty in there ....that is why I gave it a 4 for this reason only

Everything was 'just right'. The food, with a perfect balance/mix of ingredients. The decor, not too fashionable, not too gritty, just clean and subtle. The sound level moderate (I have dinner for conversations, not yelling). The portions not too large (no waste), not too small (not hungry). A real gem.

great food as always, I actually thought it was better than my past experiences. Loved the grapefruit salad, wasn't crazy about the duck/scallion pancake because it was very dry, BUT the flavors were on point. Absolutely loved the duck breast. It wasn't a big deal, it's just my attention to weird things but the same Siouxsie & the Banshees song kept playing like every 3 songs in the background which I am a huge fan of her.. regardless it drove me a little crazy in a funny way. Great, creative food, service & ambiance on Smith St.

The ambience is nice and the service friendly but the food was quite bad. Not to mention very steep price especially for Vietnamese food. The duck noodle was bland and greasy and was a struggle to finish. The sprig rolls were just ok. And the coffee is just watered American coffee with some sprig of spice and totally overpriced. Will not be coming back for sure.

I'd wanted to try out the sister restaurant to Seersucker for quite some time but never made it. I give it an "outstanding" because it delivered one of the best "yum!" to dollar ratios I've had in a long time (spring rolls were explosively good). You can have a great, superior Asian food experience without feeling the kind of financial pain that is becoming all too familiar to eating out in New York. And, for me, it tapped into a sense of nostalgia for Uncle Pho's, one of the first restaurants to launch the Smith Street scene back in the late 1990s. Loved it. Loved the slightly out of the way location. Can't wait to go back and examine the rest of the menu. My new favorite restaurant!

I came here in the restaurant's first year, and liked it, but it never made my return list. Just went back a year later, and was so impressed by the quality of the food and ingredients. The Cha Ca is the closest to the true dish that I've had since a trip to Vietnam! Better than Pok Pok's version. And the caramel pork was crazy good. I will now go back more often!

Second time eating at Nightingale 9 and the food was just as delicious as the first. Portions seemed to be slightly larger. My date and I shared two main dishes and a side of veggies and we were stuffed! As we went on the earlier side (7:30ish) on a Friday night, the noise was more bearable. We also asked to be and were seated by the front window at a table for 2 versus one of the large communal tables. Overall, amazing food and a little noisy. Definitely will be back!

If you're looking for delicious, affordable Vietnamese food in a casual, neighborhood environment, make sure to go to Nightingale 9 in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. The restaurant itself is modeled to the stripped-down neighborhood restaurants of Hanoi, using reclaimed materials in the dinning room, and numbering their tables. They even have their own herb garden in the restaurant's yard.

We absolutely LOVE Seersucker and Smith Canteen, and eat there frequently, so we were incredibly hopeful for our first visit to Nightingale 9. We also love Vietnamese food and have been to Vietnam as well. We had the Beef Pho, Pork Spring rolls, Caramel Pork Belly, and the wok fried veggies. Sadly, we found the food lacking in brightness and flavor and the service to be friendly but slow. It was underwhelming to put it bluntly.
