   Maison Harlem is a gem of a bistro in Harlem. The food is great, the menu diverse, the staff is warm and helpful., the setting is very comfortable. Frankly, the only issue that I had on this night (not nearly every time I've been there) is kind of an ironic one. I was meeting a very close friend who is an internationally known jazz musician/bandleader to share dinner and catch up. We were seated in the back. There was a live jazz trio (and they were nice!) playing mid-restaurant. As good as they were and as much as we love the music, it was hard to hear one another. We dealt with it and we had no complaint to make. I point it out as it might have irked someone else. Highly recommend the special watermelon salad and the duck confit. Was delicious.

   Took my husband to Maison Harlem for his 85th birthday! I've been there many times before but this was the first time for my husband. It was fabulous- from walking into the very energetic bar scene with such warm welcomes from complete strangers- to our table which amazingly was pretty protected from the bar noise. The food is really wonderful- I almost always get mussels and they never disappoint. The serving was huge and the mussels were plump and delicious. My husband had his favorite cassoulet - which he loved- except the pork belly was very very fatty. But he had started with escargots- a treat he has not had in many years - and they were spot on. Chocolate lava cake for desert was a perfect ending- the entire restaurant sang alone and we felt like we were celebrating with friends!

   I've been coming to Maison Harlem for many years, and always enjoy my time dining there! I hadn't been for a while so was really happy to return and find that the food was delicious and our waiter was lovely.

   The food is SO good and the duck confit did not disappoint. Fantastic cocktails and great service. One of my favorites.

   It's better every time! Also, I marked it was a birthday on Open Table, and I didn't even have to remind them for the server to bring our dessert with a birthday candle and sing to my friend.

   The experience at Maison Harlem is always a good one. It was strange that we could not get a reservation before 7:30 and the restaurant was 75% empty when we arrived. Nice to have a true bistro in Harlem.
