Lunch Saturday and Sunday 12:00-3:30
The food was great. Wonderful selection with great choices. Service was spot on. Always nice to see the owner or a manager walk around and check on the people dining.
Very good service by all personnel. Meal was very good.
Excellent food and service in Newport. A real favorite.
A true Newport gem. Patronne Jo Ann, Chef Brian and Manager Jimmy have crafted an outstanding culinary experience with wonderful ambiance and excellent service. A la carte selections range from comfort to gourmet, always imaginative and with fresh ingredients, and always cooked to perfection. Prix fixe (Sun-Wed) has outstanding, full-size two courses and a glass of wine/beer for $20.95 -- hard to beat in this town. HALF PRICE BAR APPS on Friday and Sunday!! Diverse, well-thought-out wine list with reasonable prices. Service is friendly, cheerful, timely and unobtrusive. They are getting very busy, even off season and even on weekdays, so reservations are very much recommended.
Great food and ambiance! Wonderful staff. Perfect choice when visiting Newport.
Newport restaurant week menu was good and a great value for a three course dinner
We went to Jo's during Newport Restaurant Week and all ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. There were varied choices for each of the three courses and the food was all delicious. Would definitely revisit the next time we are in Newport.
Excellent food and Jimmy recommended great wines to go with our meals. We will definitely be back next time we are in Newport.
Jo's always provides a consistently good experience. Their restaurant week menu was a great value and everyone's entrees were excellent. Service was good and very attentive.
Fantastic dinner with friends, we were there during Restaurant Week and the food options were plentiful and delicious!
Was a perfect experience, except for the music. I don’t know who was in charge of the playlist, but it was atrocious. I honestly thought it was a joke at first.
This is my second Open Table review of Jo's. It is quickly becoming one of our favorite Newport restaurants. When I made the reservation, I let them know it was our wedding anniversary. It also happened to be restaurant week. We were seated at a cozy corner booth. We had surf and turf, which was amazing. My wife and I tried different desserts, which were brought out with a candle on each...a nice touch, we thought. We preferred the Tiramisu, which was excellent, to the Apple-Cranberry Crisp, but the latter was still good. The service was perfectly timed - we never felt rushed. This restaurant has an ambiance - neither stuffy nor overly causal - which, when combined with the quality of the food, makes it a great choice for an evening out. We will be back soon, I'm sure.
Ate here for restaurant week and had a delicious dinner! We hadn't eaten here before and we were pleasantly surprised by how relaxing, warm and cozy the interior is. The service was timed perfectly; not so frequent it interrupted the conversation and not too slow that we needed anything. I ordered the lobster carbonara and it was very good.
One of my favorites. Friendly staff and good service. We go to Jo’s several times a month
The best meal we had all weekend!
Luv Jo's! good atmosphere, great food with music and wine!
Food was amazing I would highly recommend...
Nice cozy ambiance with a warm friendly staff. The food well prepared and tasty, a great dine for a special occasion.
Our food was delicious and perfectly cooked. They have a potato corn puree that was AMAZING!
It was busy because it was restaurant week in Newport but the quality of our entrees did not suffer at all.
Very good food preparation and service, but time for a menu change!
Scallops were excellent. Potato and corn mas a bit too sweet. Swordfish and spezzle needed color but very tasty
Wont be going back
Great food and good wine list; excellent, attentive service; nice decor and very convenient location; all at reasonable prices. Best deals are the prix fixe menus Sunday-Wednesday evenings, and (don't tell them I told you!) half-price appetizers at the bar on Friday and Sunday evenings.
I was visiting from NYC and ordered the clam chowder and it came out on the colder side so I let that slide. Our antipasto meats were not fresh and few of the pieces were dried out and also had two different colors to it. I was surprised the chef would allow this dish to leave the kitchen. When the staff was alerted to our displeasure and showed the meats the waiter agreed and took it back to the kitchen. I ordered the Bistro burger medium rare and it came out overdone and the bun was burnt on both sides. Instead of sending a second dish back I eat the burger and scrapped the black off the bun. Hopefully I will have a better experience at a different restaurant in Newport on my next visit.
We had some issues with a special order (hold the mustard) but the waiter/server addressed this immediately to satisfaction. It is a nice spot, away from the business of downtown Newport, making it a bit more relaxing.
Jo’s is definitely a must go to dinner place when visiting Newport. The service is very good. The food is even better. The carpaccio to start is an excellent choice. Their salads are over-sized portion to say the least so balance your meal. The duck and lobster carbonara are excellent choices as a dinner selection. We would definitely return to Jo’s.
Stumbled on this place and had a lovely meal. Atmosphere was slightly lacking but maybe it was because it was out of season
Warm welcome, brilliant service with proper explanation of drinks, meal ingredients and reccommendating...
Great options and variety on menu, staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Wine list had some real gems and reasonable, well matched with food offerings. Again staff followed up and were happy we were happy 👍
Service is Always the best. The salmon was perfect.
Had dinner at Jo's with family members 4 times over the past 18 months and the food and service each time was excellent. Good wine selection and friendly staff. The grilled pork chop, butternut squash ravioli, salmon, seared scallops and hummus platter are all highly recommended. Whenever we're in the Newport area we make it a point to have dinner at Jo's.
Best Burger! We don't usually do reviews but, these burgers were so good we had to share
This past Sunday we enjoyed our first visit to Jo’s American Bistro. I say “our first visit” because there is no doubt that we’ll return the next time we visit Newport, RI.
The quality, flavor and presentation of the food were fantastic! Our friend ordered the deconstructed Oysters Rockefeller followed by the Lobster Carbonara, which she adored. My husband was over the moon while enjoying his remarkably elegant Four-Cheese Penne. And my Grilled Pork Chop was incredibly tender, juicy and flavorful, topped with sinfully delicious bacon-onion jam and accompanied by surprisingly yummy shaved brussels sprouts and mashed sweet potatoes. We ordered a sumptuous cinnamon peach bread pudding to share (we were all quite full but couldn’t resist). It arrived with a lit candle and, we discovered, was complimentary in honor of our friend’s birthday. Such a kind and lovely surprise!
Our server, Olivia, was outstanding - smart, efficient, attentive, extremely personable (without being intrusive) and professional. The bus person, whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch, was also friendly and fast. We had an early reservation (5:00 PM), since we needed to drive back to Boston afterward. Our mansion tour had ended sooner than we anticipated, so we arrived at the restaurant quite early (prior to opening time). The owner (I think) graciously allowed us to come in and wait st the bar. He even took a drink order for us (the bartender was not yet on duty). When the bartender and one of the servers arrived, we had a delightful chat with them as well while waiting for 5:00 PM so we could head upstairs to our table.
We’re already looking forward to coming back the next time we’re in Newport. Very highly recommended!
Exactly what we were looking for on the last night of our weekend in Newport. Good food, wine and service. The oysters Rockefeller are a must!
The steamed littlenecksand their sauce were delicious. Scallops, pork chop and bacon-onion-jam burgers were our entree choices - all excellent
Great live music and half price bar menu on Friday and Sunday night. What a great Friday night. Great food great time.
Good food and good menu selection. We liked the clam cakes, the duck/lobster quesadilla and the butternut squash ravioli. Burgers looked great coming out of the kitchen. Good bread. Good beer list. Service was earnest but nothing special.
Great meal! Large portions. Pan seared scallops were really good.
Great service..delicious food .....nice wine and fresh hot bread!
We’re on holiday from the UK and found Jo’s very good. Atmosphere was convivial, service pleasant and food good quality and interesting - longneck clams are new to me and were delicious followed by a very tasty steak. Would recommend
