Sushi master Ryuichi Nakano casts a wide net at SanKai, drawing longtime fans and welcoming newcomers to his intimate new sushi restaurant in the heart of downtown Edmonds. Enjoy our cozy dining room, omakase sushi bar, or heated outside dining in our domes.

Please note we are a small restaurant and children (babies) need to me accounted for in your reservation if you need seating/highchair. Stroller space is limited and may not always be accommodated.

    We chose to sit in one of the domes for more privacy. It’s impressive how well the wait staff handled serving us. It was great. The food was excellent as always.

    My wife and decided to try the outside dome seating. Quiet and very fun. Food was fantastic and well prepared. Staff was kind and very helpful. We plan on going back soon

    We think SanKai is the best sushi experience in the greater Seattle area and we are lucky to live only 1.5 miles from it. If you are looking for authentic sushi that is of the best quality, as well as other Japanese cuisine- this is it. The staff make you feel right at home and are very friendly.

    We’ve been to SanKai several times before, and it’s always lovely. This time we sat in an igloo with our kids outside! It was a little cold (they are heated, but it was like 38 degrees outside) but we had a great time. The dining room is really nice as well and I would prefer that going forward now that we’ve tried the igloo. Anyhow, the food is always delicious and the service is great. This place is a gem!

    Unfortunately for us, this was a very disappointing evening - New Year’s Eve! We were seated, initial order taken then receive anything for a half hour. They had a full restaurant, lots and lots of orders to go and we sat and watched them very busy without any acknowledgment of us. Then they served the newly arrived guests beside us (!) immediately when they were seated. When we spoke up they were apologetic and continued to offer apologies. We had to ask for wasabi and ginger to be served with our nigiri. To avoid further delay, we ordered the rest of our meal rather than the usual take your time at the sushi bar. We have usually been very pleased with the service and the food and we hope this was just a one-off for them and not a sign of things to come.
