Located in the Reynoldstown neighborhood of Atlanta, at the historic Atlanta and West Point rail station, H. Harper Station is a one-of-a-kind watering hole and restaurant. Owner Jerry Slater designed it from the ground up to be the type of place he and his discerning friends would want to kick back for drinks and food. H. Harper Station has a menu for brunch and dinner. It features traditional bar foods such as olives and pickles, smoked pimento cheese, devilled eggs and bacon cracker jacks. H. Harper Station also serves bigger items like sirloin steak, roasted bone-in-pork loin and cornmeal-fried whole Georgia trout.

This refurbished train station has a cool, authentic interior which is good to see compared to the more typical newer re-creation interiors of many Atlanta bars and restaurants. Excellent drink menu and selection of spirits. Be advised though, the food menu is pretty sparse. Go for drinks, maybe something to eat, and you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful setting, wonderful drinks. The Guinness braised brisket is completely mediocre. Slabs of chewy, fatty meat that were bland, even though it came drenched in some mayo like sauce. The tater tots were nice though.

Website and Message encourages reservation, Open Table highlights for Reservation. Arrived in advance and still waited almost 20 minutes. Response, "ahh it's casual dining, no one really makes reservations anymore." Waiting another 20 minutes to get drinks at a "modern watering hole". Perhaps they were understaffed for the night, but it made for a bad first experience.

This was our first visit to H. Harper Station with some friends from out of town. We enjoyed our visit and would return again. Since we are not into the bar scene, we can only attest to the food. Everyone else seems to rave about their drinks but we had water with our meals even though our waitress tried to push the specialties several times. Our entrees included the steak, chicken sandwich, vegetable plate and fennel & pear salad. The "cracker jack" app was great and so were the marinated olives. It started getting noisy towards the end of our meal since we were right next to the bar so we opted out for dessert. All in all it was a good experience with the exception of our 20 minute wait even with reservations.

A friend and I went for an early dinner before another event. I absolutely love the space. It's warm and I think it would be the perfect spot for after work drinks or for any celebration where you invite a few friends to toast. There's a good music playlist and the menu has lots of options for snacks and light bites. Our food was delicious.

This place was another great find. The menu is simple because the options are just that great. I had the whole wheat pancakes with bourbon syrup and that was delicious. I also appreciated that the coffee is made/served in a french press -- much better taste!! My dining partner had the biscuits and gravy and gave that rave reviews. I would recommend this restaurant for breakfast or brunch!

I made a note in my reservation that it was a dinner for my parent's anniversary. upon arrival, they told my parent's happy anniversary. they also respected my request for a quiet table by giving us a booth towards the front. the ambiance was really nice. the restaurant is attractive on the inside and out. I was a bit disappointed that the dinner menu had limited options. I expected a bit more but the food was delicious. we waited about 40 minutes and the food had not arrived. our waitress was attentive but at the moment when we were really hungry and wondering what was the delay, my husband didn't see her anywhere. he approached the hostess and right away, within minutes, the manager came to our table to apologize and assure us that the food was almost ready. we were happy just to know that but then the manager and our waitress came over with a complimentary glass of champagne for each of us. that really made our evening! that special effort to appease us was a really nice touch. we happily drank our bubbly and waited a few more minutes for our meals. dinner was very good. we were all more than happy with the taste and presentation. we were surprised once again at the end of our meal when our waitress brought us plates and spoons for dessert because we hadn't yet asked for the menu. another surprise! a complimentary dessert and it was perfect. we were all happy to forgive the delay in our dinner because the service was attentive and they made our celebration special. we look forward to going back soon.

Unusual drinks seem to be this restaurant's primary emphasis, as the drinks menu was significantly longer than the food menu, and contained a variety of retro-hipster idiosyncrasies (a dozen kinds of rye whiskey, for example). I'm often disappointed in drinks like that, and here the prices were too steep to tempt us into trying them. The food menu, though short, was excellent. We had the bacon Cracker Jack (EXCELLENT!), the deviled eggs (good if typical -- I thought the devilling was too smooth), the peach salad (EXCELLENT), and the burger with tater tots (again, good but typical). I would happily eat here again. We ate at around 7:00 pm on a Friday night, and were surprised how empty the restaurant was. There were only a handful of tables occupied, and a few people at the bar. We were grateful, though, as the restaurant's decor has a lot of hard surfaces, and I suspect it is very loud when full.

Glad to have a new brunch spot that doesn't involve a 45 minute wait. Tater tots were excellent. Nice decor; everything went together and the tea and coffee service was lovely. The only thing that didn't go was the lack of salt and pepper shakers- when we asked for them, they brought the McCormick bottles from the kitchen. Seemed incongruous for a place that has Jadeite chandeliers. I'll be back and I will send others for brunch!

Our server was nice but super slow and kept forgetting everything. I order the watercress salad with ONLY watercress and strawberries, NOTHING else. It took them three times to get it right and on the third time it was too salty to consume so I didn't eat my 1/2 cup of $9 watercress. My drink was good, an "Old Cuban" but I won't be paying $10 for that ever again. I will NOT be going back.

As a repeat customer, I had expectations that cocktails, food and service would match the levels of previous visits. Unfortunately only the cocktails met the standard, but the server was no help in suggesting cocktails that were not on the menu. The food was okay, not what was expected. Service was inattentive and food orders were served in a timely manner. To avoid disappointment we will not return.

They have a policy that you must order your food all at once. This shouldn't be an issue if the kitchen paces your food properly, but as I suspected would happen, they couldn't. Our entree came out 3 minutes after our appetizer. Their prized burger was bun heavy, over cooked and chewy. Another in the party had a ravioli dish they said was pretty good.

We've frequented H. Harper Station since it came to the neighborhood. We absolutely love the drinks and the menu options. We've always had great table service and one of our favorite servers, Lauren, always goes above and beyond. We're lucky to frequently sit at one of her tables. While we always consider H. Harper our "go to" place when we want a nice dinner and drinks, the drinks came out even more slowly than usual. We realize that artisan drinks take some time, but when we first arrived the restaurant was not very busy and the drinks took the usual time, but when we ordered our second ones the restaurant was busier and the drinks came after my husband had finished his meal and mine was cold by then as I wanted to drink my wine with my butternut squash pasta. We hope that the restaurant can plan to keep drinks moving as the restaurant gets busy and as people order a secnd round to enjoy with the food.

My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary dinner. We picked it because it's just a neighborhood over from us, has a beautiful building with history (and awesome decor), is known for cocktails (and they delivered on their expertise!), and a little pricier than a normal night out. Our server was knowledgable, the cocktails were delicious, the food amazing (only wish we could have gotten a little more food in the entree, or at least had it come with a small side or side salad, given the price). We had a 5:45 pm reservation on a Thursday night and were one of just a few occupied tables, but rather than feeling like a big empty restaurant, H Harper Station felt like our own secret nook for a private dinner. I would love to come back during a busier time to experience that atmosphere as well. PS if you are vegetarian / vegan - talk to your server. I was informed of the "chef's choice" which was the most delicious plate of deliciousness - there were roasted root veggies that I didn't even know could taste that good, nuts, spices, honey, I can't remember what else but it was amazing. I told the server I was a lactose-intolerant vegetarian, and after talking with the chef he ran a few ingredients by me - so accommodating!

The food was very poor and the service was very slow. They did not have enough servers so our server was serving almost the entire restaurant. We ordered deserts and it took forever. It is more a bar than a restaurant place. I would not go there for dinner, I will go if I only for want to drink.

We dont get date night hardly ever with a baby but we picked this one because it is in our neighborhood Reynoldstown i thought it was a great experience. Great food. loved the deviled eggs. Wish the antree prices were like $3 less or so. the prices are good but just wish for a tad better. The drink price is steep too $12 for a small glass of a bourbon mixed drink i had. it def was strong but that is almost as much as the entree, even if it is their specialty. i gave it 5 stars though because they do well in all they do i just need the total check to come in under $50 rather than the $70 we paid =) plus tip too. for 2 entrees and 2 drinks we ordered. 2 beers, 1 bourbon, chicken fried chicken, and beltline burger. $84 is a bit steep to make a habit of, but we'd like to. i had gone to brunch though the weekend before and their brunch prices are great =) their coffee is fantastic!

Some of the best cocktails, I've had in the city. The tater tots, are awesome. Oysters with their homemade hot sauce is delicious...they should bottle and sell the hot sauce. Wings are good. Hamburger is solid. I would skip the pimento cheese..it wasn't creamy enough and difficult to eat. Deviled eggs, ok...King and Duke is better.

My wife and I had a great experience sampling flights of whisky. The owner/manager took time not only selecting a nice variety of samples, but to come to the table and explain each of them. The food was outstanding (the steak was cooked perfectly), and the apple crisp was excellent. We will definitely come back next time we are in Atlanta.

Cocktails here are top notch and the reason to come. The food however is a bit overpriced on the "large plates" and not enough ~$15 options to make me want to come regularly even though I can walk here from my house. If the place stopped acting like the food was the real draw, and focused on cheaper eats to get butts in seats drinking their booze, this place would become a staple of mine.
