I made a reservation for my wife’s birthday. We stayed at the hotel which was nice. I was really disappointed by the restaurant. We stood waiting to be seated for quite a while. The bartender was nice enough to say someone will be over soon. We were greeted by our very stressed out waitress who said “table for 2?” , and I replied with “reservation?”… She then responded again with “so table for 2?” I just said yeah. Starting off kinda rude. I understood they might be understaffed, but I made a reservation. She seats us then after us seats a table of 4 then immediately takes the order for the table of 4 even though we were there first. Took forever to finally be waited on and never refilled water. I’m not asking for 5 star service here. Just disappointed I went out of my way to reserve a dinner for my wife’s birthday just to be treated like we’re a bother

A bit expensive for the offerings, but our service was wonderful. Lots of items replace their bread for sandwiches and sliders with biscuits which isn’t my favorite, but the drinks were great. Love the aesthetic to the place.

A limited all-day menu including breakfast favorites, sandwiches, salads, and burgers. It was all ok foodwise, although nothing particularly memorable. We were there early evening and it was very quiet, 2 or 3 other parties there. The waitress was very nice and attentive, good service. The beet salad was primarily lettuce with some beets underneath. The hamburger had a beautiful presentation and bun, except the burger itself was gray and very little sign of being seared. The fries were fine. Prices were about what you'd expect for downtown Seattle.

I loved the atmosphere and the service but the items were over-priced. Not surprising since its a downtown restaurant but if they want to fill up they space with patrons they should either have some sort of deals or specials. It was empty when were were there which was unfortunate as it is a gorgeous space.

The Hart and the Hunter - SeattleResponded on March 11, 2020

Hi Aimee, Sorry to hear you thought our pricing was a little on the high side. May I ask what meal period you came in at? We try very hard to ensure we are in line with what Downtown pricing is compared to the quality of food we serve and as I can hope you can see, it's a fine balancing act. We are happy to hear you otherwise had a great time and hope to see you again. Maybe for our chicken dinner for 2 Thursdays?

Nice place, friendly, sincere service. A small menu is a good sign of focus. The decor/layout is not bad, just a bit unspecial. Feels off somehow. The live music was a nice touch. The food was nicely done and pretty standard value for Seattle, which is to say somewhat higher than you think it should be, but at least it’s good. The biscuits were fantastic. That’s easy to say in a city where biscuits are generally absolutely terrible, but these are quality biscuits. Worth coming in for those alone.

The Hart and the Hunter - SeattleResponded on February 26, 2020

Luckylou, Thank you so much and we are happy to hear you liked our Live Music and our biscuits! We do agree that they are worth it alone but have to say that we strive for the highest quality in every dish and hope you come back for to try more of those as well. Stayed tuned for some more specials including our famous biscuits in more recipes. (strawberry shortcake anyone?)

It was OK. I loved the vibe of the place and the servers were wonderful. the food was good but very overpriced for the portion sized, value, and also for what the perceived ambiance was. It looked/felt like they were going for a french bistro/diner vibe but priced everything like a fancy restaurant. I'd go back for the cocktails, not the food. Cocktails were completely worth it.

The Hart and the Hunter - SeattleResponded on February 26, 2020

Allie, We are happy you enjoyed the Live Music we have every Thursday night and our wonderful cocktails at the bar. I am sorry you were a little disappointed with our food portions and pricing. We try to keep our prices competitive to downtown but understand your feelings. We hope to see you back in again soon and that you will be able to check out our new happy hour offerings in March.

Enjoyed dinner prior to going to the theater. Based on reviews, we ordered the butter biscuits first. They came with pimento cheese, butter, jam, and seasoned salt. The biscuits were divine. The pimento cheese you could eat by itself. Got there during happy hour and ordered the spice pecans, salmon jerky, and roasted Romanesco. The waitress made sure that we knew the roasted Romanesco was a vegetarian dish. All of three appetizers were excellent. We finished the mussels and fries. The mussels were very large and the fries were shoestring-size. Overall, an excellent dining experience.

This was our second visit. The first time was excellent, this time not as good. The breakfast potatoes were delivered cold. After reheating, my eggs came back cold. At that point I was done. The good news is they comped both meals so we would give them another chance in the future.

Has the ambiance of a diner but with more expensive food and inattentive service. We were there late-ish on Thanksgiving to a nearly empty restaurant. We started with the beet salad ($14) -- nicely dressed arugula, eight wedges of red and yellow beets on a spread of goat cheese. My companion ordered the salmon which arrived at room temperature. I had the seafood stew -- mussels, smoked trout, and reportedly octopus. The trout was not a happy choice, dry and bony The octopus was finely chopped. It was delivered with crostini but without a spoon. For some reason we persisted and ordered the lemon "ice-box" meringue pie. Ten minutes later it arrived. They weren't kidding about "ice-box" I'm guessing it took ten minutes to thaw enough to be edible. There are many better choices at the market.

I really wanted to like this place... but came here for breakfast and - coffee took about 15 minutes to get to me once I ordered it, the scrambled eggs were not properly cooked as there were large sections of white still in them, the bacon was basically burnt, and the biscuit was raw inside. Service was rather slow too. 🤷🏻‍♂️
