Outstanding Basque food, excellent service. Tiny, cozy and charming. A MUST go.
The entrées were amazing but the main was rather disappointing. The chicken was bland. The skin was very seasoned but it didn't seem to have come through the meat.
Had a lovely brunch with my sister at the communal table Sunday morning. It was quiet, cozy and delicious! Great service too. I’ll be back!!
A wonderful little gem, excellent food ! Loved the house made sangria, band the butternut squash soup was delicious!
The food was simple, elegant, and amazing. Full of flavor and a real enjoyment. Service was excellent & helpful. It was crowded (on a Tuesday!) but that didn't slow them down one bit. Will absolutely be returning.
This place is our Diamond in the rough!! Such a lovely place with great food, drinks and atmosphere. We feel like we are in France in at a local place. Thank you
Excellent food. Excellent service. A real gem. The French staff help make a truly authentic experience.
Very nice service and exquisite food. Would definitely come back!
Small menu but exceptional food.
Positives: Incredible food. I can recommend the Basque pork, the fresh salads and the moule. Cozy atmosphere. Service extremely helpful and friendly, if a bit slow. Negatives: Not vegetarian friendly. A very limited menu. If that doesn’t bother you, you will love Cocotte.
I love this restaurant so, so much. The food and service never disappoint - it's like elevated comfort food, in the most cute and intimate setting. Their menu is small but everything is thoughtfully executed, with love.
great food, nice ambience, friendly service. I like the fact tat waiters and waitress speak French, give an authentic feel
The food and service are always excellent, this visit was no exception!
My husband and I have eaten at Cocotte several times and try to get there whenever we visit NY. On our latest trip we went for brunch on Saturday and had the pain perdu (a very different kind of French toast that was a bit like bread pudding) and the BEC (bacon, egg, cheese). Would recommend both. And as always, the staff was friendly and enthusiastic
Nice neighborhood spot with delicious cuisine and friendly service. Basque food is a real melange of cultures so you will ind something you like on the menu. Everything we tried from the boquerones to the lentils to the scallops was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. It's a bit snug, but that's my only complaint.
Small menu. Lights were flickering. Good if you’re looking for something quiet.
I've been periodically dining at Cocotte since it opened about 6 years ago. In the beginning with its proprietors on hand with one usually behind the small bar, it had the feeling of intimacy and personal charm to match the small garden level space that drew me in both spontaneously alone and with one or more friends. On my last three or four visits within the last year, though, I've felt a shift away from the personable intimacy toward a not necessarily even pleasant detachment on the part of the waitstaff. Even the familiar chalkboards on the walls have now disappeared while the waitperson two nights ago had no recollection of the longstanding high-temp skillet-seared vegetable 'salad' that was a staple on the menu while the host(esses) were, from the outset, intent on our understanding we would have to be done in 90 minutes to make way for the next reservation (that actually didn't show). It's a subtle shifting that I hope the restaurant will arrest before it goes the pedestrian way of the neighborhood as a whole toward simply upscale outdoor mall that could be in any urban district across the U.S.
delicious and very personal food and service. tiny and special. we sat at the one table outside and it was perfection all around
The food is fantastic, the service is good, but the place is small and seating somewhat cramped. On a Tuesday night it was deafeningly loud, which is something I try to avoid.
Delicious meal, cozy room, attentive and friendly service. I had scallops in a light and slightly sauce with a side of roasted Brussels sprouts. My friend had fish in a tomato with peppers sauce. Good wine selection. Already told my N.Y.-area children about it. Recommend highly.
Love cocotte. Amazing food, amazing waiter! Third time we go and same amazing quality.
Delicious but very loud and I almost passed out from the heat and had to ask to put some action on. They were reluctant.
Our first time here. But we'll be back again. The gazpacho was to die for!!!
A quick trip to the French region "les landes" Great food and service
It’s a great restaurant... they should have more vegetarian options :-)
Cozy little gem. Authentically French (kitchen and waitstaff jovially spoke to each other in French). Great for small groups or a date. Fantastic food. Great presentation.
We’ve now been a number of times and each meal has been fantastic. Truly exceptional food combined with wonderful service in a warm and upbeat ambience makes it hard to beat and one of our favorites. I’m excited about new updates to the menu, as after 4 visits I feel like I’ve fully explored their options. You can’t go wrong.
Cocotte is a great combo of not fussy and delicious food!
Amazing Cody dinner with confort food paired with great wine.
We will be back
Service was excellent. The waiter brought me water as I waited. The space was a bit cramped, but that’s my. While the steak was excellent, the mussels were okay.
Absolute Gem. Amazing atmosphere, food menu, and exceptional service. A must do. Off the beaten track. Hidden gem. Will be back for sure !
We went there for the first time. It's a very small restaurant with French/Spanish cuisine. The bartender, Jean-Laurent is very attentive and super nice. He makes you feel like you are a regular and treats everyone like a friend. I thought the food was outstanding- I had the braised beef dish and you could tell they had simmered down the red wine reduction for many hours. It felt like my grandma had cooked it, not fancy but just genuinely great food. Not sure about the drink menu as I only drank their beer from the Basque Country (Northern Spain). It's called Moritz and is absolutely delicious. I will definitely keep this place on my list....
We highly recommend this restaurant. we are still drooling over how amazing the food was. We were Visiting from Toronto and have to admit that it was totally worth coming to New York for :)
Food and service is amazing, would definitly return
Small intimate French restaurant - the scallop special was amazing. Staff very good. Tables are extremely close together.
Terrible service. Small portions and tasteless food
Delicious & fabulous service!
Great food and service . Very good place to eat calmly. A romantic touch
