We went here last night for my partner’s birthday and everything was simply fantastic — food, service, ambience. We’ll be back.
Ambience is good and noise level good as 4 of us able to converse.
Meat dishes very good. Salmon dish overcooked and not tasty at all even though we asked that it be done medium;
Went on a hot evening and the ambiance was great. The food and presentation was great.
The restaurant was not busy but the staff appeared rushed and some were even running. Need better coordination between staff.
Very pricey for what it was. Steaks very expensive and not much else to choose from.
Unfortunately not a professionally run restaurant - there is no voicemail set up, no one answers the phone and no email address for the restaurant. Further, management is either very green OR has no authority to make judgment calls on how to handle a sub-par and potentially life-threatening experience. We attended this establishment (my 2nd time), my companion's first time who has an allergy to gluten and dairy, which we disclosed to our server right away. We ordered the green salad, shishito peppers, octopus, oysters and 2 bottles of the super Tuscan red. We were told everything we ordered was fine for allergies however, the green salad we ordered came with kamut (a grain that contains gluten) but we were told it was Walnuts; to be fair, the server told us the salad came with walnuts prior to a recent change to the ingredient. We informed our server after eating some and noticing that it had kamut vs. walnuts which she unfortunately did not know until double-checking with the kitchen that the salad now comes with kamut. Sent it back, got a new one, but the lettuce was brown and unappealing. The manager checked in with us. We had hoped the 3rd time would be a charm - NOPE - same brown lettuce, so we gave up on the salad. Our server was the most pleasant and cheerful person I've ever met. Unfortunately, she, all the other servers and manager need to be proactive in double-checking menu item changes and the others who run food for each other should probably ensure quality of food being run to each table and for allergies. My companion got sick that evening and had this been an anaphylactic allergy she would have been toast. My recommendation - do NOT attend if you have allergies, product knowledge is sub-par across the board. In the end, we got comped a $14 salad. Would I attend here again, not likely. There are many other places in Toronto to get quality food at that price point but with staff/management who have proper food knowledge and quality execution.
Delicious food, great service!
Octopus was amazing!!
Anastasio was our server and he was truly incredibly. He knew good wine pairings, and suggestions about what to order, and the type of steaks.
His service made the experience as great as it was.
Thank you !!
Wonderful restaurant and incredible food. Steaks were perfectly cooked and beyond flavourful. Grilling food on wood gives it flavour like no other. The owner was extremely nice and even made time to came by to introduce himself and offered to give us a tour of the kitchen and their dry aging facility. The head chef explained to us meat grilling and aging process which was very interesting and educational. My husband and I were so impressed and above all appreciative of Neruda’s high standards of food and their support of our local farms. Overall we had a beautiful dinner and beautiful experience. Let’s not forget our server Anastasio who went above and beyond to make our night special. We will be definitely coming back soon.
We have been there many times. Great food nice atmosphere Service is a little slow and always has been. Having said that we are back again twice this month.
The waitress forgot my companions drink but mine came; I think she didn't ring it in. She wasn't able to give recommendations about most of the menu whether drinks or food. She didn't follow up after very well. Waitress was not young either; as a career waitress she should be a lot better.
The food wasn't great either; we order a striplion steak (medium rare and it came medium at best) and definitely not a great. I have better steaks at The Keg. The sides were actually good. We had mushrooms and mac and cheese. They were the highlight of the meal.
We also order the Salmon which was asked for medium and it came dry and more on the well done side.
The story behind the restaurant was a nice one on the website but the delivery wasn't there at all. Based on the prices you want to charge you need to step it up in all categories in my opinion.
The experience and the ambiance at Neruda were great! I’d definitely recommend the restaurant to friends.
Had a wonderful time celebrating a birthday. Beautiful view and great food! The staff was wonderful!
This is the best steak house I have ever been to. The atmosphere as well as the staff was amazing! Beautiful location as well. I would 110% recommend this restaurant to anyone. It also has something for everyone, from vegan to vegetarian or any allergies- they make sure you're happy/satisfied!
Wow. Wow to how amazing their staff is. Wow to how amazing the place itself is. Wow to how amazing the chef is.
My first experience at Neruda's restaurant surpassed every expectation. They served incredible vegetarian dishes such as the smoke tofu with spicy sauce and the calamari side dish. They completely topped themselves when they brought out the sea food platter. Full lobsters! When you drizzle over warm butter it beats anything else you have ever eaten.
If you are looking for a nice place to eat I highly suggest neruda's restaurant. Not only for the food but the story behind it.
Did you know that it use to be an old bowling alley? When the owner found out that it was being torn down, he stepped in and took it over. Sure, a restuarant is nothing like a bowling alley but he made sure parts of it were including in his new designed. For example, the table we were sitting at was part of the bowling alley floor! As of today, its 97 years old!
Support this restaurant because of the quality, the localization, the character, the hospitality, the generosity, and because you havent stopped thinking about that full size lobster since I mentioned it!

This is ultimately my favourite dining place here in Toronto! The food is amazing, no preservatives, fresh ingredients, amazing staff who really take care of you! I’m glad to have eaten here during my visit! I can honestly say that my glass was never empty, the waiters/waitresses always had my glass filled which I truest appreciate when at a restaurant! Would definitely come here again with these amazing sceneries and food!

Loved the athmosphere and amazing food ! Thank you for having us !
What an amazing experience the other night! There's nothing much better than being greeted with a tall glass and full communication and description of our meal! So very impressed by the smiles, presentation, and incredible taste!
Neruda in Toronto serves THE BEST food in town! I’m a big seafood lover and I just tasted the best seafood platter ever! I know I can’t live without my cilantro 😅 lobster dipped in cilantro guacamole was just amazing. Every restaurant should have this and I think they need to open one up in Vancouver BC ☺️ I’m happy to have a go to restaurant to visit whenever I’m back in Toronto!
The service as soon as you enter was 10/10! The servers and the manager were so friendly and on the top of everything! This place is so so beautiful you can celebrate at any occasion! really enjoyed it! Well done team Neruda!
Tonight I got the pleasure of dining at Neruda Restaurant in Toronto! To start the service was incredible, all the staff were super welcoming and friendly, and made sure all accommodations we needed were met. Second, it was a gorgeous venue. I was seated on the patio outside where the setup was amazing. Now the best part, the food! Everything I tasted was phenomenal. The Horderves were so delicious. The main course was so good, and don't even get me started on the desserts! Incredible! Pineapple macaroons and mini cheesecakes were exquisite. Definitely some of the best food I've ever tasted! Also a little disclaimer, all their ingredients and products are from local areas around or in Toronto, which is a bonus! All around I loved this restaurant. I'll for sure be back in the future!
Came to Neruda for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was vibrant, service was outstanding, and the patio was lovely. Be sure to get a table outside if the weather permits!
For appetizers we had the Mediterranean salad, baba ganoush, and hummus with grilled pitas.
Our entrees were the dry-age rib eye and Cornish hen, accompanied by confit potatoes, broccolini, and macaroni and cheese on the side. Every dish was delicious, but the mac and cheese topped with breadcrumbs was the unquestionable standout.
The mascarpone cheesecake was probably the best dessert I’ve had all year—creamy but not overly sweet, and paired wonderfully with fruit, shortbread cookies, pistachios, and white chocolate bark.
Neruda is a restaurant I’ll definitely visit again!
So you are new to Toronto and want to have a chic and tasty food tonight? NERUDA IS THE PLACE YOU NEED TO GO TO! Tonight I had the pleasure to eat dinner at this wonderful restaurant and I can guarantee YOU WONT REGRET coming here! When you enter this restaurant you are welcomed by friendly and professional staff. There is great music playing inside and the place it self is very aesthetic and it gives a very elegant sensation ! You have a big variety of appetizers, meals, sauces, deserts and cocktails! The food has an amazing taste it is very fresh and delicious, as if you were at home! My favourite meal this night was the Neruda SeaFood Plater, I am usually not a fan of seafood however the waiter recommended it to me so I thought .. what do I have to lose? When the meal was ready it smelled amazingly and not only looked grate it tastes like HEAVEN ! So soft and tasty, you could feel how much LOVE the chef has put in in this plate! It's honestly the first time that I was so happy of eating seafood! I am DEFINITELY coming back to taste other meals they have and to enjoy the extraordinary atmosphere! Thank you so much!!
today I had the amazing opportunity to dine at Neruda and let me tell you something..there’s only one photo of the food for a reason! We cleared those plates! The desserts and the presentation was delicious I loved how the flavours worked so well together. Thank so much to Mark and his team of chefs for the amazing food! I highly recommend this restaurant not just for the food but for the overall experience. The ambiance as soon as you walk in is so captivating and relaxing! I really truly enjoyed mingling with everyone and the staff is so friendly and funny! The Patio is gorgeous and overlooks the water and you get to see family’s playing volleyball on the beach and just surrounded by positivity. If I ever found myself in Toronto again I’d definitely come back to dine at this elite restaurant!
20th century poet Pablo Neruda can be described as influential, innovative, and extraordinary; the romantic culture and cuisine at Toronto’s Neruda epitomizes the famous Chilean poet who inspired the restaurant’s name. Located in south east Toronto at 1681 Lake Shore Blvd. E. (just north of Ashbridges Bay Yacht Club), the beautiful ambiance portrays feels like late nights in Latin America, providing a fine dining experience like no other in town. I had the pleasure of enjoying my meal on Neruda’s back patio, with fantastic visibility to the beaches of Toronto. The display of fine wine along the walls coupled with amorous lighting truly creates an astonishing environment. Our party was greeted by polite and courteous staff the moment we were seated. I strongly recommend one of the wide varieties of starters; specifically, Baba Ganoush, Hummus. Consistency and texture of the dish was superb, and was complimented by the pita served alongside. The Penokean Hills T bone cooked to perfection is, for lack of a better term, “to die for”. To finish the night, mascarpone cheesecake. It was sweet, tangy, and bursting with flavours, paired with Ontario summer berries, sable breton and candied pistachios. Not to mention everything served at this restaurant is made from local products no farther than 100km!!! Neruda is 100% a restaurant I will be visiting again and recommending to everyone visiting the city!
Neruda is an impeccable place to eat at. They cater to every persons’ individual needs.I had the eggplant and shiitake mushroom which was delightful. Every entree was gorgeously presented, it was very aesthetically pleasing. Neruda has delicious food and an incredible history as well. When you enter the restaurant you can tell the place has character. For anyone visiting Toronto or for anyone living in Toronto I would highly recommend Neruda.
I had such a wonderful dinner at Neruda restaurant. The hummus and pita was absolutely delicious. The eggplant and quinoa dish was very flavorful. The mac and cheese was creamy and melted in my mouth and the breadcrumbs added the perfect crunch. I will be returning to Neruda with my boyfriend because both the food and service was outstanding. The experience was very personalized as the owner checked on us and asked us how our dinner was going. Michael shared the owner's personal story about why he chose the name Neruda for his restaurant. The restaurant's name is a tribute to the Nobel prize winning Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience high quality delicious food combined with stellar service! Thank you to Alex and the wonderful servers at Neruda who hosted an incredible dinner
Incredible food!! The best lobster was to die for. definitely will be back! The staff were so kind and accommodating. Also new favourite place for desert!!! Best restaurant in Toronto for sure
Neruda Restaurant has delicious food in a beautiful location, with some amazing history. My table was reclaimed wood from a bowling alley and the brick on the outside is over 100 years old!
I had a variety of food and absolutely loved every bite! The appetizers included Mediterranean salad, Babaganoush, and hummus. The entré was a seafood platter, rib eye, cornish hen, broccolini, and macaroni and cheese. We finished with mascarpone cheesecake and pineapple and white chocolate macarons. Absolutely delicious! I look forward to coming back!
Dear citizens of Toronto & visitors of Toronto, as a foodie, I am here writing my review and thoughts about the incredible experience I have had at Neruda.
For starters, the interior architecture of the place was just so beautiful and the romantic vibe of the terrace was unforgettable. The staff were not only incredibly welcoming and friendly, but also were very focused on creating the best experience and atmosphere!
The food was just exquisite, that made my experience even more unforgettable and enjoyable, the portions made me so happy and satisfied!
Neruda’s staff planned and added every item on the menu very carefully! Every single item on the menu complimented the next, from the mediterranean salad to the hummus and pita, to the Macaroni and Cheese that was balanced and extra cheesy, to the exotic and flavorful lobster (Neruda Seafood Platter) that has melted in my mouth. I was able to taste every spice without losing the flavor of the most important part of the dish, which is the the lobster itself!
The White Chocolate Macarons were one of a kind! The moment i indulged i knew i fell in love with it! I am a HUGE fan of Macarons, this one specifically though is worth the extra calories! ;) haha
The “Mascarpone Cheesecake” had me crave even more of it! The sweet and acidic balance in the cheesecake was perfect, the Sable Breton was the key! The best part is you wont feel heavy! The cream cheese was super light and airy, and the mini bases were super tasty!
This restaurant deserves the 5 stars, they have covered all the aspects and angles a 5 star restaurant must cover. So yes, I most DEFINITELY recommend Neruda to you! Whether its a family out for lunch, a bunch of friends going out, a business lunch/ dinner or even a date! Neruda will accommodate you and satisfy all your cravings and needs!
I was disappointed that they were out of the Argentinian steak and also a bottle of wine I ordered - 2 for 2!
I ended up with the flat iron steak and saffron rice which I highly recommend - very tasty however, they could lighten up a bit with the oil on the rice. Overall the ambiance and food was delightful.
Delicious! Went to Neruda for dinner today and the food was out of this world! I had the babaganoush and hummus to start and it was amazing. It was served with pita on the side and all the produce is locally grown. For my main course I had the dry-aged ribeye and it was the best steak I’ve ever had! It was juicy and melted in my mouth. To finish it all off I had the caramelia clusters. They were the perfect level of sweetness and had a great crunch. I will definitely be coming back!
Thank you so much Neruda for the wonderful experience tonight! We had an amazing time from start to finish. Your friendly and courteous staff welcomed us warmly at the door and continued to greet us all the way to our table. Our waiter was able to guide us through your menu and help us select the best items for our taste. We can not stop talking about how delicious everything was. Our favourite would be our surf and turf combo of lobster and steak. Followed by delicious mini-cheesecakes which were as good as they were adorable. Special mention as well for your inviting setting and elegant decor. We feasted both eyes and taste buds. We look forward to coming back soon!
Absolutely amazing food. The rib eye steak is melt in your mouth and the seafood platter is to die for. Some of the recipes are even some of the owner’s mother’s recipes. The restaurant has a story in every brick and table, just get the owner Alex to tell you about it. Everyone there is warm and welcoming. If you are in the Beaches neighbourhood of Toronto, you have to make a stop here.
Neruda is an incredible place!
Everything from the appetizers, the steak, the lobster, the desserts, the drinks, the staff, the ambiance, and the gorgeous patio was absolutely incredible. I will definitely be returning in the near future and will be coming back often!
A perfect place for friends, family, or clients!
Can’t wait to see you all again!
It’s not often that I explain a dining experience as a work of art but Neruda’s restaurant certainly brought more to the table than just fine food. Neruda’s restaurant draws parallels to the works of Nobel Prize poet Pablo Neruda with a carefully crafted menu to delight your taste buds. Our table was even made out of a 97 year old bowling alley floor. Now that’s character!
The modern atmosphere and decor is just as stunning as the beachfront view. The music and candlelight make for the perfect atmosphere for relaxing with friends, celebrating with family, or just enjoying a nice evening on the patio.
We were at a private event with over 60 guests and the staff was prompt, friendly, and the food was beyond delicious. As someone with many dietary restrictions my allergies were taken very seriously and the staff accommodated me to make sure that I had a more than enjoyable time.
“To feel the love of people whom we love is a fire that feeds our life” -Pable Neruda
If you want to share an excellent meal, atmosphere, and evening with your loved ones, I would highly suggest Neruda’s restaurant.
This restaurant is incredibly aesthetic and is teeming with more than 100 years of history. The owner pays lots of attention to detail and connects personally with all his customers, something I was delighted to experience.
The food itself is absolutely amazing. The portions are just right and exquisite. I had some of the best herbed potatoes and macaroni and cheese in my life at this restaurant!
Definitely a new favourite here in Toronto and a must visit place! Thank you to all the staff for making my evening so charming :)
I came to Neruda with a group of over 60 guests. We were seated on their large private terrace on a warm, breezy night with some light jazz playing in the background - perfect for conversation and mingling.
The appetizer was a great start and complementary to the main seafood course: a light Greek salad with a side of hummus. I had it with a cold glass of Prosecco.
I ordered the seafood platter as a main, which consisted of fish and lobster meat. It was neatly presented in a shareable pan for about 4 people. The fish was tender and melted in my mouth. The lobster meat was on a whole other level - tender, juicy and each each bite was tantalizingly flavorful, especially after I dipped it into into the variety of sauces that were provided. Sides included my favourite comfort foods: Mac and cheese as well as confit potatoes. Again, all in fun and shareable plates.
The dessert followed suite with the “melt in your mouth feel”. Neruda served flavourful cheesecake with homegrown Ontario berries and macaroons.
The staff and owner were friendly and personable because they genuinely care about their guests They enjoy sharing their passion for food, beauty and culture over good conversation.
I recommend wholeheartedly!
I had such an amazing experience here. I went here for the opening dinner gala of Miss World Canada 2019. I was so nervous because I don’t have a sense of smell so all my food is based off texture. At this restaurant, I ate nearly everything! It was all so amazing; cooked perfectly, complimented each other and small sharing portions. And if the food wasn’t enough, the atmosphere completed the night. The mature, professional, business standards were very high and they were reached. I loved the interaction and the attention to detail in the art, space, even the tables. Would 100% recommend.
A delightful evening to kick off Miss World Canada 2019 thanks to the warm ambiance and hospitality from Neruda Restaurant! These plates not only have an impeccable presentation but every bite is a taste of joy! Don't skip out on dessert, as the white chocolate macaroons are wonderfully scrumptious! The venue itself is covered in character and historical value. Clearly a stunning venue for galas, date nights, and tourists looking for an amazing lookout of Toronto's infamous Woodbine beach!
I enjoyed my time at Neruda. The staff were very friendly, detailed and down-to-earth. The appetizers were mind blowing, I wish I could eat more but I needed to save room for all the other entrees; thank goodness I did because they were amazing. The lobster was my favorite dish of the night, truly the best I've ever had. I'll be coming back for sure in the near future. Thank you to Alex Haditaghi for teaching me about the history of his restaurant and the importance of each aspect used to make it what it is. It is truly a place I wish to build more memories. Hope to see everyone again. Thank you for the wonderful first experience.
My overall experience was nothing less than perfection at Neruda, from the food to the service. Whether it’s a lunch out with family/friends or a very fancy event, this is the spot to dine. The food has so much flavour and tasted so fresh. The Macaroni and cheese was so creamy with a nice crunchy topping of bread crumbs. The service you receive here is unbeatable. The staff are so friendly and kind. They go above and beyond to make you feel super comfortable and at home. If you stop by in the warmer months, I suggest you take a spot on the beautiful patio. The atmosphere is exquisite. A big thank you for your wonderful service. I would definitely recommend. I will be back for sure!!
