About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for business meals
  • Innovative
Vernick Fish presents Philadelphia’s own, Chef Greg Vernick’s exploration beyond the boundaries of a seafood restaurant. His ingredient-driven cooking style, paired with a love for global flavors, results in an inventive menu of fish and shellfish dishes, and a range of vegetable preparations. Taking a detailed, seasonal, and sustainable approach with small and large plate offerings, the kitchen brings new life to the favorite hallmarks of American oyster bar fare and raw bar. Complementing the experience are well-crafted cocktails, and a focused wine list of seafood-friendly white and sparkling offerings, as well as light, fresh reds.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Greg Vernick and CDC David Paterniti

From the OpenTable editors: Sleek interiors meet thoughtful service at this celebratory Logan Square seafood spot. James Beard Award-winning chef Greg Vernick walks the line between innovative and nostalgic with dishes like sardines on sourdough toast and grilled scallops that are masterclasses in careful sourcing and precise preparation, but also wipe-your-plate-clean delicious. If you’re toasting to something special, get one of the hard-to-find spirits or wines from the top-notch drinks program.

Expensive but absolutely worth it. The crispy octopus starter alone is worth the trip

Food and service were outstanding. The endive and gem lettuce salad was terrific as was the grilled sea bass entre. Probably the best seafood entre I have had in the last 10 years. I also had the olive oil cake which was moist and had flavorful. A lot of restaurants offer olive oil cake but it is usually dry and tasteless - Vernick's pastry chef really delivered. We really enjoyed our dinner at Vernick Fish and can't wait to go back.

Beautiful restaurant. Everyone from the wait staff to the servers were very polite. I came for a quick lunch but the oysters and shrimp cocktail were perfectly filling and delicious. Also, the mocktails were beyond exceptional! I actually can’t wait to try the regular cocktails now. Will definitely be dining here again in the near future.

Great food and great service. Erica the server was a wonderful tour guide to a delectable dining experience! She even overheard that it was both of our birthdays being celebrated that evening and brought us out 2 bday cakes with a candle each which was the cherry on top of a perfect evening!! Can’t wait to go back!

The food was just ok, small portions. Everything was minimalist. We asked for bread, 2 little slices. Our fish entree came in a bowl so it could be paired with Lemongrass soup. The fish filet was hard to eat out of bowl, soup just ok. The servers were rather unfriendly and not welcoming just like the ambience of the space, it felt like an upscale cafeteria. Maybe that was the idea. All bland, boring, not going to return.
