Delicious food, amazing drinks, and a warm atmosphere! We sat at the bar for date night and had a great time. The small space feels intimate and keeps the noise level at a reasonable level. The food is great, and perfect for sharing plates and a relaxed meal. I suggest ordering only one or two plates at a time, and going until your full!

My friend said she’d heard it was good. We walked down from a Speakeasy show and happened to secure the last two seats for 5:45p. After we sat it quickly packed out. When we left the bar was full and there were a few people waiting to get in. The server was great, pleasant, informed and at ease to recommend her favorites. Btw us we are gluten & dairy free. We were thoroughly accommodated with great options. The decor was average and the rice cakes were rubbery, otherwise the food was delish, interesting and healthy. It was noisy and full of young people.

Got the "all you can eat" chef's menu but it was just items from the regular menu. They also only serve you new items after you finish what you're served and they started with all the bulky, cheap items on the menu. My friend and I spent $170 for it but we maybe finished like $100 worth of items. Staff gave no cues about how many items or what would be served. Complete rip-off, don't waste your time on this supposed top 50 restaurant in Boston

Interesting food with super fun small and medium sized plates to share with the whole table. Because I specified “Birthday” when I reserved, they placed us in a more isolated table (very thoughtful). Crowded and noisy, but didn’t distract from the experience.

Great spot with awesome options for everyone! The ambiance was great, and the staff was super friendly. I really enjoyed the smaller plates, making it fun to try a bunch of different dishes on the menu.

The food was outstanding, and for that reason alone it is so worth it to pay Whaling in Oklahoma a visit. However, the music was kinda loud, on top of the service being quite spotty. The server would chat with the kitchen for a while, ignoring the plates and food wastes (bones, skewers, etc.) piling up on the small table.

Food and the drinks were great. Both our server and the bartenders were knowledgeable and made good recommendations. Although we did have to wait for our table even though we had a reservation and got there on time. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to friends and family. It’s ideal for a group of 4 because you can share a variety of dishes.

This place is definitely worth going to if you like small plates/sharing concept and you enjoy the Japanese-Asian fusion menu. Check out the menu before you go. The dishes are complex - sometimes overly complex - but when they get it right it really sings. For instance, their most popular dish is a take on clams linquine which I thought was over-done with too many flavors and things going on. It was good, but just too much going on in my opinion. On the contrary, they have a charred cabbage dish, a spare rib dish and grilled skewer selections that are simple, yet refined and really delicious.

It was such a pleasant evening out at Whaling in Oklahoma. We started with the pickled watermelon radishes which were briht and crisp with our Miyozakura Panda Cup Sake. We shared the perfect Wild Maine bluefin tuna & inner thigh sticks, both executed to perfection. The final dish we shared was the newest noodle additon to the menu (recommended by our server) . It was the only disappointement of the eveing. The flavor of the sauce was overpowering and to us resembled BBQ sauce. We look forward to returning to Whaling in Oklahoma to further explore the menu options, great little neighborhood spot.

Skip the the “all you can eat”— we were expecting a broader tour of the menu, but aside from a few tasty starters, the restaurant mostly piled meat skewers in front of us until we were too stuffed to try any more. And while the meat skewers were delicious, we added up the cost of the food we were served and it fell well short of $85 apiece. The server was oddly excited that we couldn’t “finish” the menu. We left the restaurant feeling ripped off, which always leaves a sour taste — no matter how good the food was.

We went at 5:30. No one was seated in the back area that had 10 tables except for another couple. They seated us RIGHT NEXT TO THEM. It was awkward so I went up to the host and asked if we could be seated somewhere else. It was really quiet and they could hear everything we were saying and visa versa (in a crowded restaurant that's not an issue but it was empty). He said no because it was easier for him to turn the tables when we leave. WHAT? Our comfort doesn't matter as long as your life is a little easier. Super crappy response. Super crappy experience after that. We will never go back since it is clear we don't matter. Side note, it was empty until 6ish. We heard every bite, every word, every slurp...for the whole meal.

My husband and I went to Whaling in Oklahoma to celebrate our anniversary and were delighted with the creative Asian fusion dishes and wonderful service, including gifts of an extra appetizer and two cups of sake to toast our special day. The wait staff couldn't have been nicer, the portions were surprisingly large for the "small plates" and everything was delicious. To top it off, we used a gift card that we'd won at last spring's No Kid Hungry Taste of the Nation fundraiser, so we knew that this restaurant had made a generous donation to reduce childhood hunger. We're telling our friends and we'll be back!

We first got two appetizer dishes in right time, but from appetizer to main dish took such long time although the restaurant wasn’t busy at all (not even half the tables were filled). Food was good, we enjoyed sweetcorn fries, tuna tadaki and pork/ hamburger sando, however 1/3 of eel on unagi don was burnt. They also charge you 3% of your total for so called kitchen appreciation fee and it was nonsense.

A perfect mix of tapas and atmosphere (and a perfect end of summer evening helped). Not every menu item was a home run, but everything we had was thoughtfully conceived, prepared, and displayed. The ribs are to die for, but also the raw tuna, and the heirloom tomatoes. I wish I lived next door.
