They seemed to be having an off night - service was truly terrible from start to finish. Our appetizers came out before our drinks and we had to wait 10 min to get silverware brought to us even though it was sitting right on the bar. The entrees were good but lacking the zippy flavor promised in the menu descriptions.

The mussels and tomato soup were amazing! Caesar salad was good, but the service was :(. Took forever to get water and our order in.

Staff was friendly, helpful, and responsive. Pasta dishes were very good and steak one person ordered was not cooked to the temp he had asked for but he enjoyed it anyway. Prices were typical for Boston and the area.

Serafina was a very nice experience. Great vibe with Newbury St closed down to traffic, lots of people milling about with many vendors on the streets. My pasta was excellent! The salad was wonderful, all in a casual setting. Thank you!

The menu isn’t as complete as the Serafina on seaport, and the pasta was undercooked which some people might not enjoy but overall was okay I personally love the food ther.

We live in the South End, so rarely venture to the Back Bay because we have so many good places near us but with Dine Out Boston week(s) it gives us an opportunity to check out places we hadn’t tried yet. So glad we tried Serafina on Newbury Street. First, despite offering their menu for the lowest dinner price available during Dine Out Boston, they had excellent choices for the apps, entrees and desserts. Nothing is more obnoxious than the restaurants that “participate” in Dine Out Boston but then offer some low-cost off-menu choice (I’m looking at you steakhouses that don’t even have a single steak on their DOB menu). The idea is to entice customers to COME BACK when it’s not Dine Out Boston. Serafina seems to understand that, offering a limited but very high quality set of choices. The tuna tartare app was big and very good, according to my wife. My antipasto platter app was also quite generous and the meats and cheeses were fresh and served with grilled bread that was still warm. Nice tough. Speaking of bread, they just bring it - as soon as you are seated. It’s a simple touch but so many places take forever to bring something. My wife gets hypoglycemic so getting a little bit of bread in her quickly is often very important. Anyway, the entrees were also great - a pasta scoglio that had very fresh and perfectly cooked seafood with al dente pasta. Same for my chicken piccata, which was melt in your mouth. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly and our server, Tony, was super professional, keeping the dishes coming at the right pace. Finally, the cocktails were great. The mule made with gin and a hint of raspberry and rosemary sprig was unique and tasty. We will definitely be back and likely will become regulars. The menu is pretty expansive, so Serafina looks like the kind of place where you won’t get bored eating the same things.
