With over 20 years of experience in the kitchen, Nicholas McCann, now Executive Chef of Society Cafe, has always been passionate about food. Drawing inspiration from his family recipes, Nicholas quickly fell in love with the culinary world at a young age and began his career at The French Culinary Institute in NYC. Since then, he has worked with some of the city’s most acclaimed chefs and restaurants, including working alongside Chef Luis Bollo of Salinas before moving on to become an Executive Chef at TESSA, The Milling Room, and Corkbuzz.

Went for Sunday brunch, great selection of either breakfast or lunch items. Cocktails were good and coffee delicious and hot. Very attentive staff. Can' wait to go back again.

We were initially seated in the beautiful dining room in one of the swanky booths along the perimeter, but the noise level was so extreme that we couldn’t hear ourselves no less our dining companions. They moved us to the lovely lobby, with very nice cabaret music performed by a talented singer. It too is a very nice room, where we were seated at 2 cocktail tables, which was fine. The food was unremarkable, but the service was good. Next time, I’ll return for brunch, which was a much better experience.

The service lacked. We had a waiter who didn’t know wine inventory, sauces and their ingredients and came out with the wrong burger for 1 person. He didn’t know the polite way of pouring wine. He clearly was not prepped for the job. To make it worse, he was talking so much with people at another table and we couldn’t get his attention.

So pleasantly surprised to stumble a upon this cute brunch place. It’s tucked away at the back of a hotel lobby serving amazingly tasty food, such a great ambiance and a sunroof giving ample sunlight yet, cosy rustic feels. Would go back here in a heartbeat. Menu Highlights: Chickpea Fries, Market omelette, flatbread, Shakshuka. Good for Occasions: Get-togethers, dates, family.

We had a great post wedding dress shopping experience at Society Cafe. The chicken and waffle sandwiches and by far the best avocado toast I have ever had. Both the plain and chocolate croissants were delicious as well. Don’t miss this gem of a spot!

A great number of choices for brunch at this busy, attractive restaurant. Attentive service and thoughtful table placement. The hallway to the rest rooms is sort of like visiting the dungeon in a castle (lol), but this place is definitely a keeper.

The ambiance is beautiful and cozy. Food was excellent. I only give it 4 stars because after we were seated, it took a long time before someone took our orders. Drinks took a long time to come out but food was quick after that. Prices are great and not exorbitant for a NYC brunch.

Our server was very welcoming and attentive and the food was good. We were in for brunch and the potatoes that came with my omelet were fantastic. I don't know what they do with them, but delicious. Also, the croissant came with a wonderful jam that I think was lingonberry. The host was not great and, though I thought I had requested a booth, then asked for the empty one already set for a party of 3, he said, "I'm putting you here" and sat us at two tables pushed together right next to the booth, which (like most of the booths) sat empty. I think he may have been having a bad day. He was the only spoiler. Overall very good.

We love Society Cafe which is a nearby neighbor. We can always count on consistently great service & food. From the varied appetizers to the pizza to the entrees we always feel well taken care of and very satisfied - especially since it has a beautiful decor and soothing atmosphere.

The meal was nice, but it was disappointing to find at the end of dinner that one of only 3 dessert options was not available. At 7pm so not that they had run out, rather they were not prepared. Great wine list!

The food was good however the treatment we received from our waiter ruined the entire experience. He repeatedly rushed us to put in our orders, probably checked-in on us once the entire time we while we dined, and at the end as we were walking out he ran after us to ask where our group was from? After we answered he laughed and walked away. We had no clue where that came from, I even asked why he asked that, he just walked away from us. And yes, we all tipped him regardless of how poor his service was.

Amazing food but the service was terrible. We sat for 45 minutes before the waiter approached the table. They forgot our appetizers and placed the wrong dessert on the table, picked it up and placed the same one on a different table. Order takeout or room service - don’t go in person.

This is the second time my wife and I have gone to Society Cafe. And we were not disappointed. In my RSVP, I requested a specific area of the restaurant for a romantic birthday brunch. When we arrived, we were escorted to our table and immediately waited upon. Our table by the fireplace was perfect. The host and staff are outstanding. This hide-away cafe is a secret treasure of NYC. Go. Enjoy.

Out of town visitors visit in Manhattan for Christmas. We were very happy with this selection, it is charming and elegant and most of all not overly crowded and noisy. Food was excellent thank you.

We has our family Thanksgiving here. The ambiance was welcoming, warm and the perfect venue for Thanksgiving--fireplaces, classic bar, lovely decor and helpful, pleasant staff. We could choose our menu. Those who chose the Thanksgiving special were quite satisfied. Those who chose differently, commented on the great steak and unique, tasty appetizers ( great burrata!) and sides (yummy potato dishes). We'll definitely return.

Loved our experience here for brunch!! It’s a beautiful restaurant with amazing food and service. Every meal was delicious!! They really go the extra mile to make you feel special too. They ask for an occasion on your reservation details (for me it was a birthday brunch) and they came with a slice of cake at the end! I would choose this place any day over a bottomless brunch because the pitchers for mimosas are really cost effective. You spend less for more and have a really elevated dining experience :)
