We were in from Dallas and trying to stick to our low carb diet. Nook made it very simple to order based on our dietary needs and we enjoyed the food and service very much!
While the attempt to use low carb and healthy ingredients is a good concept, I found the food to be too bland and in need of more seasoning. I’m sure part of it is the sparing use of salt. I had short rib with riced cauliflower. Both were bland and the short rib very dry. It needed some kind of sauce or even just more juice. I also had an adverse reaction to the cocktails I had that use Kombucha fermented tea as an ingredient so I’d research that before drinking it.
We all thought the food was somewhat tasteless. Maybe it's their thing not to season food. Don't know, might be the style of cooking. Dinner was a little bit rushed. Not done with appetizer and the waiter was pulling our plates away to bring out the food. I still don't get the shot of olive oil either.
Drinks before our open table reservation were met with interest as we asked about kumbacha and ginger, wine ideas for dinner, etc.
Small plates for five were shareable as everyone had surveyed the menu online. Landed on these winners in order of preference; bacon & guac bites, tuna poke, sweet potatoes. All small plates were passed among five guests and considered for a reorder had we All not had our sights set on other menu items.
Two Short rib entrees were beyond delicately prepared and delicious. The lasagna was a vegetarian delight and tomato saucy. Chicken and Waffles is hopefully on the Sat brunch menu as every great Indy Friday night out should have this at Sat brunch. Nook is a welcome edition to the Indy food scene! Planning my next foodie outing.
Surprising find: “paleo-influenced” with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. We were there for lunch with friends: a small GF pizza was very filling (almond-flour crust not a classic texture, but not bad). Very good salmon tacos and a range of fish and meat entrees, small and large. Brussels sprouts popular with the whole table. Excellent service, knowledgeable staff – they get the GF details right – and plenty of beer, wine, and cocktail choices. Right next to Hampton Inn, just a few blocks from convention center. Also a full bar – good place to sit and sip.
Dinner food excellent. Brunch omelette overcooked. Not properly done. Device both times very slow. Clever food and tasty
Manager was super great. Food was not very tasty. Waiter was okay.
Excellent atmosphere, service, menu choices, food, presentation....just a great find for our group of very careful eaters! There were eight of us celebrating two birthdays ~ our ages ranged 16-65 and we were all very well served and pleased with our dinners and complementary cake for the two birthday boys!
It’s nice to be able to go out to eat and know that you are getting a healthy, nutritious meal. Everything was very tasty and filling!
Wonderful food! Great service. Great menu selection.
The food was incredible and the service was even better. If you serious about eating healthy, this is the place to go. Glad Indy has such a great place for quality food.
My husband and I were thrilled to find your restaurant! We do Whole30 seasonally to restart our system, and it was so nice to have a place to go out to eat where you get it! It gets tiring when you are on Whole30 and go out to ask for so many different accommodations to your meal, and most of the time it is still not done correctly. This was not the issue at Nook. The food was delicious, and totally Whole30 compliant. The booth we sat in was so comfortable, and the atmosphere lended itself to quiet conversation. The olive oil shot at the beginning of the meal was a new experience for us too!
I have already told so many people about your place! Thank you choosing Indianapolis for your restaurant!
The vegetarian lasagna was delicious! The olive oil before the meal was interesting. The service was superb!
Loved all of the healthy options available and the creative combination of flavors. Was there for business for 3 nights and chose to eat at Nook twice, and happy to have discovered a new spot for us to eat creative, healthy food.
Our waiter was absolutely amazing! We will be returning
Very creative menu options for Paleo, Keto and gluten free choices. We love it!
This is a place that we will definitely try again. Great, friendly service and a place that's not a steakhouse in Downtown Indianapolis is worth supporting.
We had great server. She was friendly and informative from the minute we sat down.
Both of our dinners were very good. In fact, we both liked them enough to trade halfway through. Wine selection was also good. My one gripe was the carrot cake was just blah. I had seen photo after photo of it and it almost appears to have changed over time.
One restaurant and 4 happy, satisfied customers. We had a person needing dairy-free options, and another gluten free, and these options were met without the need for substitutions.
Looking forward to our next visit.
My fiancé and I had such a great time at Nook over the weekend. We both agreed that we’ll be back soon for a date night. Incredible food, cocktails, and beer— not to mention the wide variety of grain free options! It so nice to be able to order anything on the menu. Thank you for being so considerate of people with dietary restrictions. Keep being great, Nook!
Nook is one of my new favorites. The chicken and waffles plate was delicious. I can honestly say the fried chicken tenders were the best I have ever had at a restaurant and the gluten free waffle was scrumptious topped off with fresh maple syrup. The Brussels sprouts were a nice compliment.
Ben was great as our server, very diligent. The What’s Up Doc cocktail was surprisingly good considering it has carrot juice in it! :) Food was good, and we like the location. I can see us going back again for sure.
We sat at a booth and I sunk so low I felt like my chin was in the table, and I’m not short. Everyone in our party felt the same way. And I remembered the same thing the last time I dined at Nook.
Just a note, this is not the place to go if you’re in a hurry. I appreciate that in a restaurant though.
The food was delicious, as always!
As someone with lots of food allergies, I wanted to try Nook to see if I could have a comfortable dining experience in Indy.
I have found my new favorite restaurant!
The staff was attentive and caring but did not make me feel awkward at all.
The food was fantastic and everything we tried was delicious and expertly paired. Bravo!
Like Paleo. Food needs help. Bland. Not a lot of flavor
The food was terrible
Our table was right outside the kitchen and so hot we had to ask to move tables. Food was lackluster. It was much better the first time I had been.
I was blown away at the menu! I eat gluten free and dairy free and I was able to eat an appetizer, main meal, and dessert!
Everything was delicious! I don't know what they cook the brussel sprouts or the sweet potato fries in, but it was amazing! Try the avocado mousse if you have room.
It was refreshing to go to dinner and not worry about ingredients. I have been recommending this to all of my friends!
$12 for one taco. That is bland. No seasoning whatsoever. Would it hurt to put a small little salad on the plate just for presentation and to help the $12 price? 4 people dined, four different entrees tried, and one appetizer. The only thing with flavor was the shot of oil to start the meal.
We were in Indianapolis for convention and the 4 of us are gluten and dairy free. We had so many amazing choices that we were in heaven. The drinks and food were delicious. Great service too. An excellent choice!
This is wonderful restaurant for those who choose to try eating clean and the options are all very good! Portion sizes were adequate and service was very good. Highly recommend.
Went here because my GF is on a keto diet, and while I am not there were a good number of things on the menu that looked really good. Tasted good, at a fair price and fair portion size. Would recommend to anyone especially someone on a Paleo, or keto diet.
A real gem! Will return often! Great menu selections and fantastic food!
Excellent Paleo and Whole30 menu. Our server was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful regarding our whole 30 questions.
My husband and I went to this restaurant for the devour deal. For $30 a piece plus gratuity, we didn’t leave feeling like we received our money’s worth or enjoyed something we couldn’t make at home. The starter was bacon and guacamole. It was ok. I ordered the chicken and waffles and while the one small waffle was tasty the chicken was bland. My husband got the “lasagna” and he found the portion very small and very light with more vegetables and sauce than meat. The dessert “carrot cake” resembled the texture of pre-chewed food and it looked the same way. If I hadn’t spent so much money on the food, perhaps I would have enjoyed it but $70 for an average but over rated and at times bland meal was not worth it. The service was great and the ambiance was lovely but I will not be returning.
The restaurant itself is casually elegant and the wait staff friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The server even had a master file of ingredients he shared with us. However, the food and its presentation were amateurish at best. The pistachio and goat cheese crusted salmon looked like the salmon filet was almost deep-fried, with a thick schmear of cheese and whole pistachios pushed into the cheese. No crust whatsoever. Other items our party ordered looked better but the chef really needs to up his/her game if this place is to survive.
Our experience was mixed. This was a group of 6 for lunch. While we were waiting for our food, the server told us it takes a while because it’s all freshly made, and that was fine with us. Then he dumped off the checks while we were eating and disappeared. We never had a chance to tell him that all the tacos were missing their sauces. The menu was confusing in that you could get just 1 taco for the same price as a taco, two sides and a cookie. Wth? Also, the almond flour tacos fell apart and did not hold their fillings. While I liked my lamb taco, I was told the angry chicken ones were not good. My friends’ pet peeve is food described as spicy that’s not actually spicy. The cookie was fantastic! I am willing to give it one more try, but I don’t think my coworkers are.
There was no air conditioning, our server wasn’t attentive, our food was cold, and when we mentioned the issues we had our server told us they couldn’t do anything.
After a Colts Game! Just what we wanted. Food and drinks were excellent. Bartender was excellent just working on speed in the kitchen we think!
We tried a new place for Devour Indy. Liked the Paleo concept. Would like to try other things on the more extensive menu.
The food was good but for the price I expected more. I am excited there were Keto options, which is very difficult to find in restaurants, and loved the flavors and quality of the food. However, the portions were disappointingly small. I do not expect large amounts of food, but I do expect the price to better match the quantity.
