Manuel's Bread Cafe
I was disappointed that I noted on my res it was for a bday and nothing was said, done or offered for the occasion:(
Service was terrible. All of the servers looked miserable. Our server repeatedly forgot or just failed to bring things we asked for or ordered. Restaurant was out of several things we asked for. Food was ok not worth putting up with poor service.
The food was amazing (as always). The service was a little disappointing. The waiter was barely present and not very attentive. It's still quite a lovely place.
Our waitperson brought my daughter a refill on her wine that she didn't ask for. Bizarrely, the waitperson offered to take it away, but to what end? Since the wine was already poured, it should have been comped, but we were inappropriately charged. Also, a piece of salmon that was ordered as a pricey extra on a salad was fishy. Otherwise, while MBC is not inexpensive, the rest of the meal was adequate.
Sunday brunch is always a treat at Manuel's Cafe. The standard fare is excellent and the fries are comparable to the best we had in Europe. Check the specials for seasonal offerings.
We have eaten at Manuel's several times and have never been disappointed. Saturday was my mother's 89th birthday and she has always enjoyed the restaurant. Service was excellent, and even though it was a hot day we were put in the most shady spot. Thanks!
The food was great and the service was very good. It was a quiet day outside.
Manuel’s was perfect as always! We went for brunch to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The food was amazing and the service was as well.
The specials menu is as large as the standard menu. It appears to be sourced locally and / or taking advantage of opportunities. We had a dry aged pork chop and backend cod with peppered mango. Both were tasty and prepared well (we shared bites) with vegetables from their plot. The risotto was excellent. Gotta go back to try some of the other dishes - they had dry aged steak, pheasant, crispy fried whole flounder.....
Wine was solid value picks and most available by the glass. It would be easy to order a bottle of wine and tapas/ appetizers.
It was warm so we dined inside but there were a fair number who did dine outside under the umbrellas and awning.
It looked like couples walked in from the neighborhood, but it could be they parked around the corner as it is street parking in a narrow street planned walkable neighborhood.
Service was excellent. Server was cordial without crossing into the “I am part of the group” mode. She adjusted the pace of service by paying attention to our progress and was very adept.
This is a great spot when you want something really nice to eat and a little different in a relaxed atmosphere with smart casual attire. It could easily be a regular weekend spot.
The goat cheese scramble was delicious! Fruit was very fresh, as was the bread. Took some chocolate croissants to go for tomorrow morning.
Overall the experience was great. I wasn’t that happy with my food. I ordered a filet and it came with so much rosemary on top that it was the only thing I tasted. Presentation and sides were great. Dessert was amazing.
We had another fantastic evening at Manuel's on Tuesday evening, 21 August. The service was attentive and quick, and the specials that evening were superb: I had the lamb navarin, which is one of my favorite plates, and this was most authentic version I have had in North America; my wife had the lamb chops off the menu, and her meal was great as well. Both portions were generously stocked with locally-grown Blue Clay vegetables, which truly makes the difference.
Excellent food and service. Went there for a date and had a nice atmosphere to talk and enjoy the company. It's not cheap, but as opposed to some restaurants, it seems the higher prices are justified.
Unfortunately there were No creative vegetarian selections
Cozy. Music conducive to conversation. Food was served fresh, tasty and beautiful. Beer and wine only.
Wine prices are higher than other comparable restaurants in the area.
Amazing foods! Do not hesitate to try Manuel’s. Steaks are fantastic and desserts are huge and made fresh, not frozen.
Excellent place. Excellent food and service
My server was phenomenal! I originally thought I only had 11 people. However 25 people showed up. They quickly accommodated me. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was inviting. Thank you
The selection is always impressive. Elk chop last time, pheasant this time. Seasoned perfectly. Sara always makes us feel welcome.
As always, Manuel's Bread Cafe delivered an excellent dining experience!
The entries were great and the dessert was out of this world!
Went here for lunch. Everything was perfect. Ravioli? ham and cheese croissant? swordfish croquette? BlackBerry Spritzer? Ah-Maz-ing! The swordfish and croissant each came with fries and a salad (a little heavy on the red onion) but still great!
Hostess was good ,server rude to our parents, pushy.Food has gone down hill since it has opened! Was good place at one time!
Good, a little noisy inside. Moved outside for a private conversation.
A neighborhood gem and great desserts ! Staff is pleasant and friendly
It was a great bday dinner with my parents. The Bloody Mary was out of this world. The poutin a la Manuel was wonderful and rich. The pheasant was flavorful and crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The creek brûlée and cheesecake we all shared to complete the dinner was perfect.
Food was delicious, except the steak was a little grisly. Attention from staff was good. We got the desert sampler to take home. We were not disappointed. All three cakes we selected were delectable. A bit pricey.
They have a good selection of well prepared food. I always enjoy the dishes I have gotten there. I recommend getting an app of the Poutine fries. A different take on a Canadian favorite.
It was wonderful food. The atmosphere was very fun. The waitress was training someone and they both did a good job. Thank you.
Manuel's is our go-to restaurant not only for spur of the moment dining but also for special occasions. The interior and exterior have such a pleasant ambience and the staff are long-time employees who know their customers. The menu always includes specials for the more adventurous and standards for the regulars.
It's a great choice!
Love this place!!!! Dinner can be pricey but the food is well worth it.
Excellent brunch. I love being able to make reservations on the app at times when the restaurant isn't open or answering phones. Delicious food as always.
Excellent food and service.
Overall this is usually a great place to fine however on Father’s Day the biscuits were barely warm and they were extremely dry to the point they crumbled when you tried to bite them. They were not hot, soft, and moist which was disappointing. The eggs Benedict was also warm and not hot. This is one of my favorite restaurants so I was a little disappointed but will still try it again.
We went here for Father’s Day brunch for the first time and the food was delicious!! We will come here soon for date nights for sure! Highly recommended!
End of the year office luncheon
Great place to get a meal before seeing baseball at the new stadium. Service was very attentive. Food is pretty upscale. Very good beer and wine assortment, but no liquor.
There was not a great selection of vegetarian/fish items. The first fish entree we ordered was inedible...it tasted like a frozen dinner. The second replacement entree we received was the fish of the day...it was marginally better than the first dish, but not at all what we expected. We were also very surprised to see the cost of the fish of the day was $30/plate. We should have trusted our gut when we overheard a server describe it to another table as comparable to cod....yuck! We should have just enjoyed our bottle of wine and caprese salad and fixed the remainder of our food at home. Is there no place where we can get a descent vegetarian/fish meal in this town?!
Was good. Trout filet sandwich was not good but that was the only thing that was wrong with the entire meal.
Excellent, as always. Good food; good staff; good experience. Always my first choice of "go to" places.
