We were able to secure a late night reservation after a hard week on a new job. The restaurant is spacious, and tucked slightly out-of-the-way in the sense that it's close to the "Capitol Hill action" without being fully penetrated by it. The menu is small, the wine selection is good, it wasn't deafeningly loud nor was it blindingly dark, a welcome change from most restaurants simulating sensory deprivation. Many menu options I would have liked were 86d, though I prefer that to waste.
We started with some drinks, and oysters casino. The oysters were perfectly cooked, not oversalted, rich, and slightly smokey (bacon) and "oceany". For mains, I got salmon, and the lady got a steak. I really liked my salmon, the crust was perfect, the accompaniments were sparse but flavorful (lingonberry and braised kale, I think). The steak was a more filling and affordable option. Pudding was the apple tart ala mode. I really preferred the ice cream (pumpkin masala) to the tart, so I would have just ordered that instead.
Sorry I only it made it here once before they closed just recently. The meal and service I had was superb.

Restaurant Zoe is my go to when I want great food, awesome service and a good overall experience. I had the ricotta gnudi, beef short rib cassoulet, brussel sprouts and the brûléed chai custard. I happened to be here less than a month before hand and had similar options. The custard this time was a little to firm for my liking and the flavor lacking a bit. Other then that, the whole experience was great. As someone that doesn't drink, I would love to see more "mock tails" but their clear conscience is pretty yummy.
Service is wonderful per usual, my water glass never reached less then half way and my party of three were there from 7pm-9:30pm.
I have been eager to try Restaurant Zoe over the past year and finally made it in last weekend for a date night with my boyfriend. I was very disappointed and apologized to my boyfriend for bringing us there. The service was terrible. I believe our server (in the dinning area) was also the only bartender on staff - this was a Friday night. 10-15 minutes after being seated, we were finally greeted by the server with water as she asked if we were interested in drinks. By that time we were ready to order our drinks along with all of our courses. Throughout the whole meal she only came back once, maybe twice, which took ages to get our check. Originally we wanted to get dessert but by the time she finally came back after we were finished with the main course, we were more than ready to leave. The food was mediocre. The fries were way overcooked... The fresh ricotta gnudi was small and very dry. The short rib was dry as well. I enjoyed the brussel sprouts. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to friends. I most likely will not come back.
A sad shell of its heyday in Belltown, this place has gone downhill in a hurry. Menu selection is sparse and uninspired, and food is bland. I hope to have a better experience next time.
I loved the food! Very healthy ingredients and the chef didn't over season or under season my dish. I meal was perfectly Cooked and I loved the decor inside. This is a great place for dinner with someone special or great friends.
Two of us were there in December for a late night dinner and shared the pork chop, glazed carrots and frites. All were so delicious that when our Portland friends came to town we booked a table to show off Seattle food! Sadly, the pork wasn't on the menu. We were so disappointed but quickly regrouped and decided on the short rib cassoulet and coquvain along with the Brussels sprouts, carrots and frites. The frites tasted fishy, like they were cooked in oil that fish had been prepped in. The short rib dish was overly salty in our opinion, and the portion of carrots was ridiculously meager. Almost not enough so four of us to put 2 on our plate. The chicken was good but it was a deconstructed preparation and not very much chicken. We expected more of a sauce with braised chicken and mushrooms. It seems as if the food was off that night. We will be back because we know the food is solid. It seems as if the chef was having an off night. Get the double bone in pork chop back on the menu!! Love the atmosphere and the staff. Our server was lovely, knowledgeable and professional.
Beautiful space at night, with candles and soft lighting. If you sit in the right area (to the right as you enter) it can be very nice and quiet until all the tables fill up. Appetizers didn't call to us, so we had a side of a baguette (not quite fresh, partially cut in thin slices that needed tearing, so you mostly ate and made crumbs) with an obscenely huge glob of butter. Coq au vin was said to be quite good, and came in a nice-size portion. Steelhead trout was very well prepared, with a little obligatory kale or the like charred on the side, altogether a relatively small portion for $26. Don't come here if you're really hungry unless you're feeling flush. The menu had recently changed and what I had seen on OpenTable was outdated, or I would not have made the reservation. To my disappointment, there wasn't a single vegetarian entree being offered.
