We were able to secure a late night reservation after a hard week on a new job. The restaurant is spacious, and tucked slightly out-of-the-way in the sense that it's close to the "Capitol Hill action" without being fully penetrated by it. The menu is small, the wine selection is good, it wasn't deafeningly loud nor was it blindingly dark, a welcome change from most restaurants simulating sensory deprivation. Many menu options I would have liked were 86d, though I prefer that to waste.

We started with some drinks, and oysters casino. The oysters were perfectly cooked, not oversalted, rich, and slightly smokey (bacon) and "oceany". For mains, I got salmon, and the lady got a steak. I really liked my salmon, the crust was perfect, the accompaniments were sparse but flavorful (lingonberry and braised kale, I think). The steak was a more filling and affordable option. Pudding was the apple tart ala mode. I really preferred the ice cream (pumpkin masala) to the tart, so I would have just ordered that instead.

Restaurant Zoe is my go to when I want great food, awesome service and a good overall experience. I had the ricotta gnudi, beef short rib cassoulet, brussel sprouts and the brûléed chai custard. I happened to be here less than a month before hand and had similar options. The custard this time was a little to firm for my liking and the flavor lacking a bit. Other then that, the whole experience was great. As someone that doesn't drink, I would love to see more "mock tails" but their clear conscience is pretty yummy.

Service is wonderful per usual, my water glass never reached less then half way and my party of three were there from 7pm-9:30pm.

Thank you!

I have been eager to try Restaurant Zoe over the past year and finally made it in last weekend for a date night with my boyfriend. I was very disappointed and apologized to my boyfriend for bringing us there. The service was terrible. I believe our server (in the dinning area) was also the only bartender on staff - this was a Friday night. 10-15 minutes after being seated, we were finally greeted by the server with water as she asked if we were interested in drinks. By that time we were ready to order our drinks along with all of our courses. Throughout the whole meal she only came back once, maybe twice, which took ages to get our check. Originally we wanted to get dessert but by the time she finally came back after we were finished with the main course, we were more than ready to leave. The food was mediocre. The fries were way overcooked... The fresh ricotta gnudi was small and very dry. The short rib was dry as well. I enjoyed the brussel sprouts. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to friends. I most likely will not come back.

A sad shell of its heyday in Belltown, this place has gone downhill in a hurry. Menu selection is sparse and uninspired, and food is bland. I hope to have a better experience next time.

Two of us were there in December for a late night dinner and shared the pork chop, glazed carrots and frites. All were so delicious that when our Portland friends came to town we booked a table to show off Seattle food! Sadly, the pork wasn't on the menu. We were so disappointed but quickly regrouped and decided on the short rib cassoulet and coquvain along with the Brussels sprouts, carrots and frites. The frites tasted fishy, like they were cooked in oil that fish had been prepped in. The short rib dish was overly salty in our opinion, and the portion of carrots was ridiculously meager. Almost not enough so four of us to put 2 on our plate. The chicken was good but it was a deconstructed preparation and not very much chicken. We expected more of a sauce with braised chicken and mushrooms. It seems as if the food was off that night. We will be back because we know the food is solid. It seems as if the chef was having an off night. Get the double bone in pork chop back on the menu!! Love the atmosphere and the staff. Our server was lovely, knowledgeable and professional.

Beautiful space at night, with candles and soft lighting. If you sit in the right area (to the right as you enter) it can be very nice and quiet until all the tables fill up. Appetizers didn't call to us, so we had a side of a baguette (not quite fresh, partially cut in thin slices that needed tearing, so you mostly ate and made crumbs) with an obscenely huge glob of butter. Coq au vin was said to be quite good, and came in a nice-size portion. Steelhead trout was very well prepared, with a little obligatory kale or the like charred on the side, altogether a relatively small portion for $26. Don't come here if you're really hungry unless you're feeling flush. The menu had recently changed and what I had seen on OpenTable was outdated, or I would not have made the reservation. To my disappointment, there wasn't a single vegetarian entree being offered.

Nice spot for a romantic dinner or special occasion. The only downside was that they were out of their most popular entree and the menu was limited otherwise.

Loved the Bolognese but the Gnudi was a bit underwhelming. The Coq-Au-Vin was good but I think the lamb shank (sold out) or another dish may have had more pow. The wine list was dynamite and the server was spectacular. Will definitely go back

I don't know if Zoe has changed or the Seattle dining scene has evolved, but what used to be a "splurge" dinner that was worth it for the high quality and unique food now feels just expensive. There are many other places in Seattle with food that's as good for less (not cheap, mind you). Zoe still a cozy restaurant with good service and a good vibe, but just doesn't feel worth the premium their charging.

Food preparation was excellent. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. Some different flavours used without going to far from mainstream. All of it (salad, mains, desserts) were executed well. Ambiance is actually quite nice (neither too formal nor too casual) for a small group. I expect that we will be back.

We made reservations for 2 couples, both of us had trouble finding the restaurant due to the fact that the name is visible only on one side. However we did eventually find it.

I will recommend this restaurant based on the food orders/comments of m 3 fellow diners. They all raved about their dinner. I on the other hand, was very disappointed in my order, and would say do not order the short rib casserole! There were about two-three small pieces of rib buried under a bowl full of black eye peas and some greenery. The leg of lamb was apparently delicious as was the coq au vin and the steak (with a name I can't remember).

My daughters and I had the most delicious, beautiful and surprising food experience at Zoe for New Year's eve. It was even better than we remembered.
Who would have thought that kale would be excellent in a cassoulet, or that so many flavours could be part of one desert. Being French, we appreciate when the dishes look good as much as they taste good and we were not disappointed.
Planning to return during day light next time and for our own's Zoe's birthday.

We got an early evening reservation on New Year's Eve. They didn't have any particular special menu, but gave each of complimentary sparkling wine and demitasses of soup. The service was especially good, as it has been on other occasions at the restaurant. They were flexible with our dietary restrictions, and the food was plated and sequenced well.

We have traveled to Seattle for Black Friday weekend every year for the past 6 or 7 years and have been to restaurant Zoe on two other occasions. We loved this restaurant when it was in Belltown - great vibe and food. We hadn't been to the new location so thought we would try it again.... not what we remembered at all and not overly impressed. The food was ok, the service ok and for the money, we expect more than ok. Tried it, but probably won't again.

Your sauces are tasty and its a shame to leave them on an empty plate. Even if you have someone run across the street to Madison Market to pickup some bread, I think it leaves a nice impression. Better than a lame the excuse of bad ordering.

Loved the wild boar bolognese and the ricotta gnudi. The shortcake was one of the best desserts I have ever had. There was a bit of a slowdown between the starters and the entrees but the GM (or at least I thought he was the GM) seemed to notice this and brought us some free glasses of wine to pair with our entrees and some Marcona almonds to tide us over. We hadn't said anything (and probably wouldn't have) but it's that level of service that put them over the top.

Our party of four, two of which are from out of town and one that is mostly a vegetarian/pescatarian (which the kitchen accommodated with style!), had the tasting menu and three wonderful half bottles of wine. We were wowed by our knowledgeable server and the outstanding offerings from the kitchen. We had a slice of Italian water-buffalo cheese on apple and baguette, yum. We had burrata and lemon cucumber salad with a white balsamic gastrique, yum. We had roasted heirloom carrots with honey, allepo labneh and carrot-top gremulata, yum. We had wild-foraged mushrooms on pistachio butter with preserved lemon pieces and sea-beans, yum. We had halibut and manila clams with vegetables in a lobster broth, yum. And then we had a sampling of, what seemed to be, every dessert in the house! You'll have to find out by going yourself because at this point I wasn't able to focus, there was just pure bliss and a burgeoning awareness that this would have to end, and that I didn't want it to.

I live in a culinary wasteland so, while visiting Seattle, we were lucky to eat at Zoe. I haven't enjoyed such a rich, tasty sauce in a long while. All the food had complexity, yet it was simple and unfussy. That we were there for happy hour prices made it all the more satisfying.

I have not eaten at "Zoe" since it moved to Capital Hill. The food and service were as good as I remembered. Parking can be a problem but we found a space on the street opposite the site. We were there at Happy Hour so the pricing was perfect. Even if had not been HH, the pricing was reasonable. Not as crowded as I would have expected.
