I have been going to X before it was X. It is always good and probably one of the best restaurants in Rockland County. But it is old, musty, smelly, peeled paint, broken window (never been fixed). It needs a makeover, inside and out.
Once again, there was a bug in my dessert. Told the server, she took it away and asked if I wanted another dessert. I think Peter needs to update this restaurant. I love that we have a descent restaurant in Rockland since I live there but can't we do better?
This was a business meeting, bugs in dessert does not go off well. But of course, I admit, I will be back.
Excellent, friendly service, fantastic pear martini, scallops done to perfection. Only criticism is the mashed potatoes--they had been blended to a texture more suited to duchess potatoes than a side dish. But that was a minor blip in an otherwise perfect experience.
We showed up on time for our reservation but were s
Old favorite. We just keep coming back again and again.
Delicious food and really great ambiance -- cozy yet still elegant! We will be returning.
We really like the Peter Kelly restaurants and this one is also a solid restaurant with food that satisfies all the guests. On a recent visit, we had an odd table too near the handicapped access entrance on a cold evening and the staff kept leaving the door open waiting on guests to enter. It was unfortunate as the table was located at a window in a pretty room, but the constant cold draft from the entrance was uncomfortable.
This restaurant has gone downhill fast. Will not be going back
Very nice and comfortable place to dine. The service was excellent the food was at the proper temperature and well proportions. I would recommend this restaurant to all.
Not quite the restaurant it was in the past. A noticeable deterioration in both the food and the physical condition of the dining room.
Everything was perfect love celebrating at Restaurant X great food good service . Four people in my party have never been to Restaurant X and they couldn't stop taking about the food and how good it was !!
Brunch was awesome. So many courses and all of them great! Loved the lamb chops, pasta, and duck. Good quality champagne/mimosas.
My wife asked for Prosecco. As per our server, she was given Spanish Persico?? Which was awful. She took two sips and gave it back. Later that night she got sick. Additionally, our server never came back to table after the food was served. Not even to ask if I wanted a 2nd martini or how we liked our food. However, she was very pleasant. Restaurant was extremely warm, we mentioned this to one of the Maitre'd, not Minor. He was pleasant however did nothing to rectify the situation. Since we were uncomfortable from the heat, we left and didn't order dessert or coffee. On the up side, I had the Tuna, which was excellent. My wife's entree of scallops was also very good. We rate this a three out of 10. We were disappointed...
The food was excellent even though on the expensive side. Decor is outdated and there is a slight musty odor as you walk in the restaurant. The back room has beautiful big windows but if you’re there after the dark there’s nothing to see. They should take the advantage of the back yard with some outdoor lighting to make it more charming. Also, the lighting in that room is too bright and it doesn’t create that special dining experience that you would expect from a restaurant with that price point.
Service and Food excellent.
Restaurant itself could use some updating - chairs have seen better days - wobbly and worn.
Menu's were a bit shabby and stained. Nothing more off-putting then opening a menu that is "presented" to you -and its stained! A restaurant of this quality should pay attention to the small details such as these. While a customer will always remember a bad meal and poor service - little things like this also will stay with a customer.
Would we return - yes...but hopefully the next time we do it will spruced up!
I have been to Restaurant X for brunch several times and it never disappoints. The traveling buffet always has options galore, and always delicious. The fixed price includes unlimited champagne, but if you must pay for anything else you order from the bar. Seems like there should be an option for at least one complimentary cocktail for non-bubbly drinkers.
Love this restaurant but the back room needs some updating.
My wife and I found ourselves free from the children and decided to frequent the restaurant we go to for special occasions
Found a nice wine at the bar and had a bottle with dinner. My wife had the tuna and I had the venison. Excellent presentation and delicious.
Despite the good food, the restaurant decor and upkeep leaves a lot to be desired. Upon entering, there is a musty smell. The main entrance chandelier had a few lightbulbs out. The chairs at the initial table we were seated at actually had stains on them - we requested a change to a different dining room. The ladies room was quite dirty with broken sink handle No one is keeping an eye on the appearance of this place. We have been coming to this restaurant for over 40 years. Until we hear about a complete overhaul, it will sadly be our last visit.
Fantastic evening, better than we remember after being away for a long while. Every bite of every meal was excellent. Every dish was prepared with attention and care. We were not rushed and never unattended by all servers. Will not wait so long for the next dinner here. Highly recommend Beef Wellington. It was perfect.
I have been coming to first Bully Boy, now Restauant X, for over 40 years. That says something about this restaurant. To me it’s a very special place to dine. Never had a problem with the food or service.
Wonderful as always We love the beef Wellington and the service is always excellent and most professional. It's not inexpensive, but not outrageous and well worth it--especially for a special occasion. Service is exceptional too.
Really good food, service needs improvement.
Overall ver nice
Upscale but not stuffy. Great food. Great service. Very nice evening!
Restaurant Week menu had a wonderful variety of selections. Food and service was excellent as always!
Great food as always , the service left something to be desired.
Went during restaurant week. The choices for all three courses were very appealing and
allowed for a variety of tastes. The desserts were exceptional . The portions were perfect and those lemony garlic potatoes were delicious. I look forward to going back again.
Even though it was restaurant week and they were packed, we has excellent service and our food was delicious. Can't wait to go back. Try the short ribs, you won't be disappointed.
Restaurant X never disappoints! The service is on point and the food
is beautifully presented and tastes even better! Worth the trip!
Years ago the food was absolutely delicious. Now it was good. The fish dish I ordered was amazing in the past and this time it was not good and I could not even eat it. The tables are close together. the servers kept bumping into my chair as they walked by and no one said excuse me but the waitress we had was nice. The dessert I ordered was supposed to be a warm apple cake but it was not warm and the scoop of ice cream was really a half of scoop.
We went there for restaurant week. The food and service were great. They were able to accommodate larger group of people. The only thing is the valet parking where it takes a little longer to get the car in and out.
Service was deplorable! The restaurant is very outdated and looks dirty. Wobbly tables n chairs. Bare lightbulb in the restroom. Saw waitress twice. No second glass of wine for us! The food was very good. Too bad I had such a terrible experience. For the price I expect more.
In the past, this restaurant was really good; however the food was very disappointing this time. We had to send the chicken back because it was dry and tough. We opted for the beef Wellington and the salmon. Both were very mediocre. Not going back there!
Excellent service and food!
My husband and I are fans of Peter Kelly restaurants. I wasn't wowed this time around however. I found the food to be overcooked, losing flavor in most of the dishes. The ambience is still nice, and the service was fine with a very attentive bus person who made up for the waitress taking the check paid without any acknowledgment (we left a standard 20% tip). I think the bus people at more elegant restaurants should know not to clear plates until all are finished.
First time out without the baby. Almost 6 months old.
The only problem we encountered was the hostess did not provide the every day menu as it was restaurant week. I would have ordered off the menu as I love the Beef Wellington. I wish Mr. Kelly would put it in the Restaurant Week menu.
Food good except dessert, which I usually find disappointing here
Service was not at usual level but adequate
Had fun will continue to go
Great dining experience. Friendly attentive service. Artistic presentation.
We have been coming to this restaurant since we moved to the county in 1967 and it has always been our choice to celebrate special family occasions. Our grandson's bar mitzvah and my 50th birthday were held here as well as engagements and other celebrations. This particular evening was our 56th anniversary and this is the first time since 1967 that I have ever given this kind of review. As always, the food was truly wonderful, but the service was not good at all. I know it was restaurant week, which was not a consideration when we booked, but we have been many times during restaurant week and never encountered this problem. The wait staff was very harried and we had to ask multiple times for things. We were also disappointed that the lemon tarte and the special Restaurant x chocolate cake were not available. Would I let this stop us from coming back ? No, but I felt you should be aware of this and perhaps hire additional staff dueling restaurant week.
