Restaurant X & Bully Boy Bar Ratings and Reviews
Have been here a few times - one of my favorite 'local' restaurants. Food is always very good and the staff is very attentive. It's a very cozy restaurant at night and a nice view, in the back, during the day. I'd recommend to anyone and I look forward to coming back, again.
Incredible top shelf cuisine at a very very reasonable price and so blessed to have this in the suburbs I can’t wait to come again. The beef Wellington was amazing and the waitress told me that it had three different types of mushrooms in it and fograis . It was so tender and the sauce was so good I can’t wait to come again my wife was blown away too. She had the scallops. Definitely recommend the moules frittes appetizer.
Bully boy is our favorite restaurant, however the last visit was not up to Peter Kelly 's standards. I hope this was a fluke. We should of sent the swordfish back , but did not. It was dry and overcooked. We noticed the fireplace is not working the ceiling was bowed . i hope we don't lose this gem in Rockland.
Our dinner was served less than 5 minutes after our appetizer plates were removed. i noticed the same thing at other tables for two. We were too stuffed to enjoy a 2nd drink or dessert which was a little disappointing. Still our favorite restaurant but wish there was a little more time between courses. We felt a little rushed.
We have been going to the Xavier family of restaurants for over 20 years and have never had a bad meal or poor service in well over one hundred visits. This came to an end this past Friday evening when our dining experience was spoiled by extremely poor service. Apparently they were a little short staffed that evening and we happened to be the table that fell through the crack. I certainly understand that these things happen occasionally and I wouldn't complain if our service would have been a little slow because of that. However we had to end up trying to chase down servers for cocktails appetizer and dinner orders. No one ever asked how our meal was and after spending $284 on dinner I was very disappointed. If this was my first time there it is possible I would not return, but since I have been there many times I know this is not the way they do business and I will return and look forward to another wonderful experience.
The restaurant was very cold so we asked to change the table. our new table was next to fireplace, but there were only the candles lit so it didn't change anything. Only after we asked to make the temperature higher it was a little more pleasant.
The Wellington stake was not medium but to rare. It was fixed when I asked for it. the dough was not good. I can judge, because I know this meal well.
The service was great. Thank you!
Food and ambience were stellar, but front desk workers left much to be desired. They were young and their immaturity showed in their dismissiveness and overall aloofness. We were given an undesirable table and they were quite obnoxious. But our server was wonderful.
Once again Restaurant X did not disappoint! The service is attentive from coat check to servers. Food was delish from appetizer thru dessert. Even though it was Restaurant Week we were not rushed and to the contrary lingered more than expected. Looking forward to the next time!
Very nice Restaurant Week lunch. Probably pricey otherwise. This is a very large restaurant in a house setting. Separate rooms give the impression of a cozy setting rather than a large dining room. Noise level very contained. Sitting next to a large group need not be torture.
Locally sourced ingredients prepared simply were delicious.
Well trained service. We arrived quite late for the next to the last reservation and they did not rush us.
The most difficult part was actually getting to the restaurant — gps said we had arrived but there was only a tree at that spot. The secret is to continue on 303 till you reach North 303 and the Restaurant is on the left.
My dinner was not up to past dining experiences. While the service was good, the food was not what I have had in the past.
The rolls were too hard on the edges, the short ribs, while tender had an almost burned flavor.
The portion of the shrimp and scallops was small.
The soup was good, yet the butternut squash risotto was very salty.
Too bad because I always look forward to dining at the Bully Boy.
We took advantage of a Restaurant Week dinner at Restaurant X. We were seated in a comfortable area near the bar - yet separate from it. The three-course menu offered a number of tempting selections. Each of us ordered a different offering. All three of us were impressed with the presentation as well as the taste of our meal. Wait staff was efficient yet not bothersome. We all were very pleased with our experience as well as the value.
Had dinner at Restaurant X with a couple of friends this past weekend. We decided to take advantage of their participation in the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week promotion. Food was OK but not as good as in the past. 2 people at adjoining tables complained about their meals. Restaurant was busy; perhaps they had trouble keeping up with the volume of orders. Service was attentive. I would be hesitant to go back since there are many good alternatives in the area.
This restaurant has long been considered the nicest in Rockland county. Prices for food and drinks are very high. Why is it that the owner has never thought to reinvest ANY of those huge profits he has made over past many years in keeping up the facility? Worn carpets, very outdated bathrooms, old rickety chairs, drafty windows, the list goes on. Also many children in the restaurant, not owners fault but the acoustics could not handle patrons who let the kids cry and scream which did not help the experience. Will skip this one from now on.
The service was friendly and accommodating when they were at the table - but very hard to catch their attention when they didn't specifically come over to your table. It would go a long way if they stopped by occasionally and asked if we need anything or at least walk by a look so if we do we can catch their eye.
