First time out without the baby. Almost 6 months old.
Food good except dessert, which I usually find disappointing here
Service was not at usual level but adequate
Had fun will continue to go
Great dining experience. Friendly attentive service. Artistic presentation.
We have been coming to this restaurant since we moved to the county in 1967 and it has always been our choice to celebrate special family occasions. Our grandson's bar mitzvah and my 50th birthday were held here as well as engagements and other celebrations. This particular evening was our 56th anniversary and this is the first time since 1967 that I have ever given this kind of review. As always, the food was truly wonderful, but the service was not good at all. I know it was restaurant week, which was not a consideration when we booked, but we have been many times during restaurant week and never encountered this problem. The wait staff was very harried and we had to ask multiple times for things. We were also disappointed that the lemon tarte and the special Restaurant x chocolate cake were not available. Would I let this stop us from coming back ? No, but I felt you should be aware of this and perhaps hire additional staff dueling restaurant week.
It was all wonderful...except the noise level. We were in a room with several tables that were very boisterous and we could barely hear each other across the table. Perhaps one of the rooms could be served for parties of 4 or less so that there would be less chance of a "party" group.
food was good. a bit on the expensive side. nice place getting a bit dated. men's room very dated.
would go back for special occasion .
The Sunday Brunch is an experience. Endless champagne and 15 -18 Tapas served in a reasonable sequence. In the sun room or by the fireplace, you can have a conversation.
Great food. Great waitress. Great evening. Very busy during Restaurant Week but once seated the evening went wonderfully. Waitress was very attentive and the quality of each dish was top of the line. While the segmented room set up can lend to noisy spots, we were able to carry on a conversation without extra effort to be heard. Overall the dining experience was top of the line. While it was our second reservation there in the past couple of months, we already are planning our next visit.
Restaurant X is one of my favorite restaurants. On this occasion it was complete chaos. People were 20 deep crammed into the entrance way waiting for tables. Im not sure what caused this. It ha never happened on any previous visit
good food, good service , but too noisy to have an intimate evening
I frequent this restaurant, so know it’s not the standard, but the service was so poor, my friend and I ended up skipping dinner and just having apps and dessert.
Always good. Never ever had a bad meal here. The menu runs the gamut form traditional dishes like beef wellington to global and eastern delights like thai shrimp and miso cod. The sunday brunch is AMAZING!! come hungry.
Amazing food and amazing staff. They helped me plan out my engagement proposal and helped make my night something we will never forget.
Went for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. Menu offerings were varied. All our selections were well prepared and excellent. In addition, Management had the good idea to offer a few reasonably priced wines bottles. The service was very attentive, prompt and professional. Bravo
WENT HERE FOR HUDSON VALLEY RESTAURANT WEEK LUNCH. EXCELLENT PRICE FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY MEAL. FOOD WAS DELICIOUS FARM TO TABLE MY HUSBAND HAD THE SALMON TARTAR AND I THE FOIE-GRAS BEEF APPETIZERS. AMAZING!! I HAD AN APPLE BRANDY AND MY DATE A HUDSON WHISKEY COCKTAIL. FABULOUS! MAIN DISHES WERE PORK TENDERLOIN WITH FARRO AND KALE AND YUZU SALMON SO TASTY! AND FOR SWEETS THE ORGANIC CARROT CAKE AND CHOCOLATE TIMBALE WITH CARAMEL WAS DELISH. STAFF WERE AMAZING. GREAT CHOICE.
Bingo! Peter Kelly and Brother and Co. do it again.
This was not my first time at Restaurant X and this visit was excellent. On a cold, winter night we appreciated the warm, cozy atmosphere and decor even more than previous warm weather visits. The salmon tartare and the burrata appetizers were delicate and pleasing with the accompanied greens while the short ribs entree was fork tender. The homemade cinnamon gelato was a nice complement to the crispy apple fritters. A nice red wine and cappuccino rounded out the meal. The service was pleasant and attentive regardless of a full dining room.
I grew up going to Bully Boy, and as the years passed the service, food and ambience all dwindled away. The service help didn't even speak english!! REALLY this is allowed) It is not anything that it should be for the price of the meals today. I will not return anytime soon.
Amazing quality. Great atmosphere
Always love eating at Restaurant X - a favorite for bday celebrations! Food is always good and service is first rate. My only complaint about our experience last night was we arrived at the restaurant to find out they had limited power. Candles were beautiful but I think the restaurant should have called and told us beforehand.
Even though the power was out in 1/2 the restaurant, it was beautifully lit with candles and the food was outstanding as usual
most disappointing trip to Restaurant X. My wife and I went to celebrate my birthday and the evening was anything but special. Felt like we were invisible to the waiter. Waited 35 minutes before he took a cocktail order and then I waited 15 minutes after my wife got her drink to get my drink. Soup and salad appetizers were fine but her main course was cold. Imagine, short ribs served somewhat cold. The best service was the lady filling our water and serving bread. She was the only profession that evening. And no birthday dessert (they used to do that).
Food was delicious as usual and service was exceptional. It was a relaxed evening of dining.
Food and service great as always. My only complaint, was while we were seated in room facing the street and some diners would come in through that “front” door and it would get cold. Otherwise everything was wonderful.
Great brunch! It was so delicious and great for the price.
We have eaten here over the years and come away with the same opinion. It is expensive. This keeps us from coming back a few times per year. The food is good but the dinner is costly.
Love this restaurant. We often dine by the cozy fireplace in winter. It’s warm, inviting and the staff are professional. Starters usually include Caesar Salad or Onion Soup. The Bronzino and Beef Ribs are excellent. The bread comes out warm and the dessert often includes a warm doughnut with a chocolate mouse to share for us! Great place to dine with family and friends!
We think the restaurant is exceptional, thus go there annually for past 4 years
Dinner was great and setting was magnificent with the snow falling
This was our second time at the restaurant. Food and service is always great. Would definitely recommend as a top restaurant in Rockland county.
Oysters and wine were excellent. Although cooked perfectly, the Cowboy Ribeye was too sweet and the sides of potatoes and spinach were over salted, for our taste. The room was nicely quiet so we could enjoy adult conversation. Service was attentive and the room was cozy and comfortable, however, the chairs did not belong in this space. They really need upgrading or repair.
The food was incredible and the service was great. Peter Kelly even came out to thank his guests.
I’m not a big fan of price fix Valentine meal especially if you can’t eat from the regular menu. Did not feel the value was there
Chef Peter Kelly just happen to be near the desk as we arrived and made me feel very much at home showing a level of ease and approachability as we exchanged small talk. I've been a big fan for 20 + years dating back to the Piermont days and this chance meeting was a memorable one. Upon leaving, he again extended himself by interrupting his dinner and conversation with his wife to say goodnight. What more could an admirer ask for ? On top of that, our dinner , beverage, and desert was top shelf as one would expect from Chef Kelly and staff. Very well trained staff I might add. Difficult making a selection but the cod special was special.
Apple cobbler is killer.
We dine at X 3 or 4 times a year and always find the food and service exceptional. Our only complaint with this past visit that we were seated on the porch where the larger parties are usually seated and the noise was deafening during the final course. We were seated at 6:30 so for the porch we would suggest an early reservation if for an intimate dinner for two.
Everything was excellent!!!
My family has been going to this restaurant for more than 45 years. We have celebrated everything there, and this time we celebrated my son's going out on his own, as I did with my parents 40 years ago. Everything was wonderful, including a perfectly done beef wellington, which is hard to get done right!
Second visit in 2 weeks says it all. Both times excellent food and service.
Food was excellent, waiter and staff all very friendly.
Decades of experience with Restaurant X (formerly the Bully Boy) have proven it to be amazingly consistent when it comes to great food, superb service and providing a warm, comfortable ambience. We just celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary there and the management and staff were all over it.
