Great meal as usual.
We had a wonderful birthday celebration at Restaurant X last night. We had a lovely table by the window, our server was lovely and very attentive. Our food was all spectacular (salmon, cod, lobster corn chowder, lobster casserole, caesar salad, ceviche, porterhouse, beef wellington, geneovese pesto pasta dish, carrot cake as divine! lemon tart, chocolate bomb). Highly recommend!
food consistently great
love this place
We have been to X many times but this was our first time for Sunday Brunch and it did not disappoint. Food was excellent and the cost was in-line with what you get. The food coming out seemed a bit rushed but expected for a brunch.
Food was amazing but the place desperately needs a facelift
Having enjoyed many dinners at X in the past, we joined friends for the Prix Fix lunch on Friday. Not many diners but menu and service were fine and the meal was superior in every way. Yes, the facilities are a bit worn, but very clean and food is always well prepared and nicely presented.
The food and the presentation are five star. The dishes are diverse and imaginative and cooked to order. The waitstaff is knowledgeable, helpful and dinner was promptly served. We have been here many times and have never been disappointed.
The food was excellent. The physical structure is falling apart. Dreary atmosphere. This place needs an overhaul in every way except the food.
Consistently excellent! food beautifully prepared, service excellent. This has been our special occasion restaurant for many years
Food was delicious! Service was very good. Dining room needs to be updated though.
It was wonderful to be back at X since the pandemic. Brunch is different now but still delicious. The mushroom ravioli is the greatest dish ever. We also ordered the special sirloin which was cooked to perfection.
Love P. Kelly’s restaurants
Menu never changes. Even specials are the same every week. Miss when there used to be new specials every weekend.
This is our favorite special occasion restaurant for many years now. The food is outstanding, the service is perfect, its elegant and comfortable at the same time. You are never rushed so you can spend a relaxing couple of hours, enjoying a wonderful meal.
Good food,always. Good service.
Place appears as a “down on her heels dowager”, dead flowers on table, windows cracked, walls cracked , front lawn unmowed, very, very sad to see, dinner ok but expensive given ambiance. Would not recommend.
Very nice variety of choices with great presentation. Everything delicious.
It's always nice to go back to an old favourite. The ambiance and service are outstanding. I can think of no better place in Rockland for a relaxing dining experience.
The service was efficient and friendly, the place beautiful but could use some updating but since it's for sale, that's unrealistic. I can't say enough about the quality, presentation and taste of the food. I went for Sunday Brunch and all of the courses were amazing. Nothing disappointed. The staff, and of course chef Peter Kelly should be complimented.
This was just a perfect dining experience. The food was outstanding as was the service. Gene, The maître d’, was particularly attentive and helped make it a very special anniversary dinner party. We will definitely go back
After months of fear of the pandemic and social distancing, we began to feel comfortable as we dined at your restaurant. Like last time, we enjoyed our food and your staff gave us good service and maintained their professional standards. We will be back soon.
We are here last night for our Anniversary and it was a great romantic spot!
Dinner was very good. There was a table of four people near us who were very loud. When they left, there was a BIG improvement in the atmosphere
I don’t like the forced valet parking. It is something we don’t need. We are not old and unable to walk 50 yards
The food was delicious! We were a party of 7 and everyone enjoyed their dishes, even the children! And the desserts were unmatched in taste and presentation... baked Alaska, caramel flan, chocolate opera cake, pistachio pyramid, and lemon sabayon were all shared and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Sincere thanks for very special milestone-birthday dinner!
Wonderful Father’s Day dinner!
This Restaurant is a fossil of it's prior self. I thought I was eating on a set of the Munsters. Cobwebs (yes... on the walls and ceilings) cryptic comedy and mold propagating on the AC ducts failed to compliment the food. Which was of very good quality and preparation after it finally got to the table. The quality of the food is completely overwhelmed by the morose ambiance. A simple cleaning, can of paint or two, windex and some new carpeting (don't plan on even using the bathroom bc certainly Spot owns that territory and has trashed it completely) can work wonders inside. Outside however gives the appearance of the Boars Nest in a jungle setting - scary.
Ignoring the simple and failing to address the inexplicalbe makes this spot a must avoid... despite the very good food.
The food was excellent but there was a mildew smell in the restaurant.
Excellent as usual.
The evening was everything we expected from service to dessert. I heard that this location may be removed. So get to it. You won't be disappointed.
Staff was wonderful, including Peter visiting the table himself! The food was top notch as usual. If you want an NYC experience, without all of the hassle, the Xaviars Restaurants are the way to go
Excellent service and delicious food! Absolutely the best restaurant in Rockland County!
Brunch menu lacked my type of food Certainly not the value and great experience that Sunday brunch was in the past. Very limited
Great specials, moderately to slightly expensive. But the food was delicious.
Came here to celebrate my sister's birthday. We wanted someplace special and Restaurant X is right in her town, so this was perfect. My wife and I have been to other 'X' restaurants and always enjoyed Peter Kelly's cuisine.
We started off apps of Caesar salad, chicken liver mousseline and the lobster shrimp casserole. Diving right back into 'normal dining' we all shared a little of these terrific appetizers, nice portions and all so tasty. The chicken liver mousseline in particular was a really nice portion. I could almost have finished it and gotten up very satisfied. Almost. But this was a special dinner, so I 'toughed it out'.
My wife ordered the softshell crab with potatoes and mixed veggies. The crabs were wonderful with a delicious sauce, the potatoes and veggies were 'good'... but nothing special.
My dish, the pork chops with spaetzli and cherry peppers on the other hand was amazing, maybe the best pork chop I've ever had. I've had Mangalitsa and Berkshire pork chops before, also quite excellent, but this Ossabaw chop was literally 'melt in your mouth' amazing. The sauce (butter) had some chopped cherry peppers that gave it just the right amount of 'bite' that I like. The spaetzli, while not the spaetzli that I make at home (2-3 types of cheese and caramelize onions) was still very good. Served with some crunchy snow peas, this was a perfect meal.
My sister the birthday girl, started with a very tasty Caesar salad and then ordered the Beef Wellington. Beautifully presented and perfectly cooked (medium rare) she too enjoyed this birthday dish very much.
Our waitress Marybeth was courteous and prompt, even entertaining and fun, so 'thanks' Marybeth!"
I see some people have criticized the décor and upkeep of Restaurant X. I can't say I completely disagree, but this is an old house. I very much liked the place. I don't know about everyone else, but when I go to a restaurant, I go for the food and in this case, Restaurant X hit a home run!
Thank you Peter K
Our favorite place to celebrate family occasions! Never disappoints ♥️♥️
Beautifully presented , delicious food. Good , professional service ... All four of us in our party enjoyed our dinner and shared that it was among the best meals we’d enjoyed in a long time. We have been to restaurant X several times over the years and look forward to going back again soon .
That is my favorite restaurant. From the moment I walk in and am greeted by Gene and John and the whole staff to the delicious dinner I am served, I rate this restaurant an 11!!!!!!
Another successful visit! Scrumptious food and great atmosphere. This was a bridesmaids brunch and everyone was so pleased. The only comment is that the waiter assistant (it was a younger boy) seemed to have been new and was having a hard time keeping up with some questions and requests. However, the waitress was attentive and even helped our group take some amazing pictures. She’s a pro!
