We always enjoy our stay at the Westin and dining at the Soleil restaurant. The staff is always fabulous and the experience does not disappoint. We feel so fortunate when Alberto is working. He is a true hospitality professional. Everyone is wonderful. Service is a large part of the experience.
We had the pork chops, poke, chicken wings , soleil burger and clam chowder. Quite an eclectic meal but all were good! Can’t go wrong dining here or staying at the Westin Palo Alto
This was our first dining experience at Soleil. For our entrees, we ordered the rack of lamb (which was pretty good), but our halibut was horribly overcooked, tough as jerky. So unfortunate.
Service was excellent and the food was wonderful. We went with 3 children of varying ages and they were very accommodating.
Made reservations for Easter brunch and arrived almost 45 minutes early. They seated us immediately. Made-to-order omelet was delicious. My sister loved the eggs benedict. I also enjoyed lox with capers, red onions and chopped egg. And did not skip the giant strawberries which I dipped into the chocolate fountain.
First time eating here and was meeting someone from north bay. Looked for someplace where parking was easy. Still had to pay for parking. Service was OK, and restaurant was drab. Kind of reminded you of a motel kitchen where free breakfast is served. Not very busy. Food was average. Not a huge menu to choose from, and it was OK. Kind of surprising for a Westin Hotel restaurant. I probably won't go there again.
We were staying in Palo Alto at the Westin, so The Resturant was very convenient for us. While the salads were unremarkable, entrees of lamb, the pork chop and a chicken and shrimp special were all excellent! Very tender meat, well seasoned and paired with wonderful sides were quite a surprise. Service was very attentive without being intrusive and the waiter made great recommendations. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Restaurant Soleil!
The halibut portion was very large, but the meal didn't really spark. It was on the flat side and could have used some lime juice. The seared scallops were perfectly cooked, but I felt the bed of leeks was a bit too rich. The Caesar salad was good size but again could have had more complexity with more lemon juice and some anchovies. Our waiter provided excellent service.
Wonderful food and a quiet beautiful setting. Parking is terrific, can park under the building and get validated parking so you can avoid getting wet on rainy days. Service was outstanding.
We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of our first visit to Soleil. We tend to shy away from hotel restaurants (except when traveling, of course) because they tend to be formulaic and without personality. Here we had an excellent meal with a lot of personalized attention - especially appreciated on Valentine's Day. We selected Soleil because of location and because it offered both its regular menu and a special Valentine's menu and we have picky eaters among us so more choice is better. The restaurant allowed us to mix and match between the two menus, so we ended up with a delicious artichoke heart appetizer along with a Caprese salad composed of sweet cherry tomatoes with burrata and basil, entrees of scallops and pork chop which were delicious, and tuna poke which was a little on the spicy side, followed by fruit sorbets and small trays of bit-size cookies. With cocktails and champagne and coffees afterwards, the $180 tab for the 3 of us seemed reasonable for a lovely holiday dinner. We loved the ambiance and the staff, and we'll be returning for another meal soon.
First time visit with my wife for Sunday Brunch. Great food and service. Nice table setting. We will back soon.
We go there for birthday Sunday brunches several times a year and it is always very nice and not so loud.
You don’t have to shout for a nice table conversation. The service is very attentive. Now in the Christmas
Season it is beautifully decorated. Food is well prepared and of very good quality.
Thanksgiving buffet was excellent, staff very nice
Thank LynneH for your Review! We hope to see you and your family again next year.
Restaurant Soleil has been, and remains our go-to Thanksgiving Dinner place. Attentive staff, wide variety of good food, reasonable prices. Smoked salmon, prawn cocktail, cheese board, baked/smoked veggies for starters. An upscale buffet of hot turkey, prime roast with accompanying vegetables. The dessert table had at least a dozen choices in diet friendly portions. All-in-all, a fine meal. We were seated promptly and never saw people waiting. We will return again
We enjoyed a very nice meal for a special celebration. For a hotel restaurant, it was very pleasant.
Though we had a reservation, they had closed the restaurant because of low occupancy. They called to tell me, and, when I said we were having a board meeting, they opened the restaurant just for us. It was quiet and perfect for what we needed. The food was also very good.
The staff was great! We just didn't like the combination of sauces with the entrees. The fusion didn't work for us. If you try the entrees, perhaps ask for sauce on the side.
Small, quiet restaurant with pleasant ambiance. Gabriella and Yolanda provided wonderful service with a well-paced meal from starters through dessert. The food was delicious - the tuna tartare starter was fresh and flavorful, while the lamb chops were grilled perfectly to medium as requested, with a nice char on the edges. They have a nice, reasonably priced, wine selection including some tasty Sonoma and Russian River Pinot Noir. We will be back!
Consistently good food, great presentation and excellent service!
We had early reservations at 5 pm, so had the place to ourselves most of the meal. Our server was attentive and helpful. My date had the salmon and I had lamb chops. Our starter was calamari. They brought a basket of yummy bread and kept our water glasses from running empty. The ambiance was warm and inviting. Sat near the window with soft romantic sunlight filtered in... My only complaint was the rice pilaf served with the chops. Tasted old, bland, stake. The chops and asparagus were delightful though. Plenty of food and all in all a lovely evening and fine dining experience. Parked under the building and got parking validated easily.
I chose this place to try on the extra points recommendation from Open Table.
The restaurant is wonderfully quiet -- the only place in Palo Alto where you can easily hear your dinner companions.
Easter Sunday Brunch at the Westin this year was special. Elegant food prep at very reasonable prices. The food prep, quality and portions were a big step up: oysters on the half shell, artisan cheese selection, roast beef and lamb.
Service friendly, and low noise level. Very professionally done. We'll return for sure.
the food and service was great. in the past we did not have to order the main entree it was part of the buffett, which i really liked as you could have a variety of foods instead of one main entree. all in all was still good especially if you like fish.
The ambiance and food are outstanding, but what really makes it shine is the service! Our server, Ariel (not sure I spelled that correctly), was attentive, friendly, and met our every request graciously. We will return!
Wonderful service by all staff we met at the Thanksgiving Day Brunch, very customer service focused, very nice! This includes the staff on the food line, very prrdonable. The food was excellent!! Every single item we tried was delicious, presentation was also perfect! We will return😁
Friendly and attentive staff, excellent food quality and variety. We were there to celebrate a birthday and thoroughly enjoyed their Sunday Brunch.
Not one of the better meals- the food was overcooked, the waiter did not get the order right, and we were one of two tables with people at it. With so many great restaurants in the area, this is truly a desperation option.
We had tried their Sunday brunch buffet a few years ago. It was very pleasant and the location/parking is convenient. We remembered that while the buffet selections were limited, they were very tasty. It is a smaller dining area so the seating is limited which was very enjoyable as the noise was moderate and the table spacing was very comfortable. We wanted the same experience for a Mother's Day brunch and tried it again. The seating this time was more crowded and the environment was a bit more hectic. The dining area is still nice and pleasant and the service was friendly. The buffet selection was reasonable, but nothing especially exciting. The chocolate fountain was fun, but the selection of items to dip was limited to marshmallows. You could dip some strawberries if you got them from the fruit/salad table which was on the other side of the room. The entrees were tasty, but again nothing extraordinary, mostly the standard breakfast buffet type salads, entrees, desserts, and accompaniments. For a brunch buffet, I think the price was fair.
I actually would recommend it to someone for whom quiet is a very high priority. The food is good, not great. Not a place for foodies. We used it for a business meeting on a Friday night. The tables are well spaced and the restaurant is rarely full.
My family went for Christmas brunch. The food is ok not much of variety but the prime rib was good. We had fun and will go back in the future
Went for holiday brunch. Selections limited compared to other brunches I have visited. Most brunches also have breakfast items but this one, because of the holiday perhaps, only had 4-5 meal items (turkey, beef, veal, salmon..). Food was lukewarm at best and nothing special with respect to flavor. Service was very attentive and, if you can believe it, TOO attentive, with multiple servers asking if we wanted coffee or other refills, to the point we were interrupted more often than we should have been. The servers were very pleasant though.
Would not recommend.
Food was excellent; service could have been better. My greatest disappointment was that even though I mentioned it in making the reservation & again when they called to confirm there was no table set up with a high chair for my 19 month old grandson. We had to wait and the table where they placed us was not great-table for two with a walkway which is where they placed the high chair.
On our visit, the restaurant was empty. The service was superb as was the food. We were able to have a quiet conversation and a pleasant experience. Parking was below the hotel and plentiful and with the validation, free. Cost was comparable with local restaurants of similar quality of service and food.
I'll use this restaurant many times in the future.
The restaurant is not anywhere near what one would expect in Palo Alto or even in a good hotel. The staff is friendly but very inexperienced. The food is average. I was asked what temperature I'd like my pork chop, a question often asked at high end restaurants. I said whatever temp it should be for med. the meat came totally over cooked.
I asked what's in the middle of the plate with olive oil. The server cannot answer the question and never came back with a response.
The server broke the cork when opening the wine. She took it to someone who removed the cork behind the kitchen and brought it to serve us. We rejected that bottle.
The restaurant is really sub standard for Palo Alto or for a Westin hotel.
food was good as I would expect form a Westin property. Cordial service and it was a quiet place for a good discussion where you are not yelling at your table makes to converse. That was the main benefit - good for conversation and actually paying attention and listening.
We have only dined at Soleil for the Sunday brunch and keep returning, never feeling the need to try any other place. It satisfies in all aspects and we shall continue coming. Great place.
The Mother's Day brunch was a wonderful experience.
Soleil is nearly always empty for dinners and brunches on weekends, which means it must stay afloat via its hotel-based meals. Take advantage of its good food, excellent service and wonderful quiet for long, meaningful conversations at an excellent price.
Restaurant Soleil stepped up its game on Easter Day. Not only was there more to choose from but the quality and taste seemed to be kicked up a notch as well. Succulent lamb at an Easter brunch? Yes and excellent taste. Plenty of vegetables, and seafood. The prices were higher but the enriched feast was worth it.
Overall their food was good, varieties in the cold appetizers and salads. Hot selection was okay & the carving meat section was also okay. I was a bit disappointed w/ the cheese selections & desserts sections. I believe they had more varieties during
their Mother's Day brunch last year.
