The service is excellent, very polite, fast.
The food is average.
The two of us enjoyed a quiet early Sunday evening. The Inn was not busy, but service and kitchen still managed to pace the meal nice and slow, the way we like it.
Appetizers and mains were very good, with an extra nod to the Mussels.
We very much enjoyed our Easter Brunch. Delicious food and Jimmy was great. Thanks for the window seat...an additional bonus. Very relaxing, no rush to get through the meal.
Nice home feeling with good food and service
Jimmy is outstanding!! Great meal, staying at the Oban for the first time and will definitely be back!
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience from start to finish. Awesome food great service...made our anniversary even more special.
Decided to stop for dinner after a full day of wine and chocolate tasting. We weren't aware of the Foodilicious Promotion but ended up ordering from both the promotion and the menu. Service and attention to detail by our server were top notch. Seated by the window without requesting such a prime spot. Appetizers and main course selections were delicious. Dessert was a bit of a disappointment but since it was dinner that we came for, it wasn't a big deal. Loved the selection of quality local wines. we will be back!
Went during fabulous in February and preset $39 menu was nice. Ordered off the regular menu food was great except chicken risotto a little peppery. Service was excellent very attentive to when glasses need to be filled. Or when dishes need to be cleared, staff worked like a team wonderful to see
We had a lovely meal and we're able to enjoy easy conversation with friends in a Cosy atmosphere. The food was excellent and had a good choice of local wines.
Service is slow by design, be prepared.
Jimmy was an excellent waiter and the quality of food remains consistently high.
Waiter was fantastic. Food was fantastic. Ambience was fantastic. Loved this restaurant. Highly recommend!
Incredible food, outstanding service. It was a quiet Monday night at the restaurant but that didn’t prevent them from delivering an outstanding meal with outstanding service. Will definitely return.
We were celebrating a special occasion with another couple on an evening when a snowstorm hit. So a very quiet evening in the dining room where we had top notch attention from Alexa. Everything was well presented and served beautifully, and the wait staff was charming and friendly. Highly pleasurable visit and will recommend.
With friends for a weekend
I do not understand why you ask if we are celebrating a special occasion if you do nothing with the information. It was my friends 65 birthday.....dissappointed
Staff was very nice and friendly but slow to come to table. Food was average but the wine list needs improvement. We love big reds and there was nothing on the menu but local wines and a few low end other reds that wouldn't fit the bill.
entrees very good
soup was not hot
extra cheese tray very disappointing
very good fixed menu for xmas service is a bit on slow side will go for sure
great food and lots of it for the Christmas lunch, very friendly staff..
Great meal. Food and service were excellent!
Very impressed with the food and ambiance. Service was great very polite from the moment we arrived until we left.
Food quality was excellent. However, the service was horribly slow. We spent over 3 hrs for dinner. In addition, my friend had the coffee creamer spilled down her back and jacket which was on her chair. The server didn't even bring it to her attention that she had done it until my my friend realized she was soaked. The restaurant did not offer ample amends until I asked to speak with the manager. Ultimately, they did comp her meal which they should have done outright.
Not that the Oban wasn’t nice it just wasn’t what I expect from a higher end restaurant. The French Onion soup was burnt on top and not overly tasty. The beet salad had tasteless dressing. The salmon dish was good I will admit and the sweet potato soup was phenomenal.
The most disappointing of all was the service. For a high end restaurant I expect high end service. The waiter didn’t know what was in the soup which is fine but he didn’t offer to go find out and did so reluctantly when we asked him to.
Jimmy was the best, took care of all our needs and then some.
Food exceeded my expectations.
The beet and goat cheese salad had lots of salad but precious little beets or goat cheese. The add on Chicken was well cooked and delicious but was $10 extra, I did not feel that this plate was worth $23. Excellent service, good atmosphere, but not great value for money
Amazing food, from the appetizer to the main course. Service is a bit slow, but it happens when you have only 1 waiter for the area. He did keep us updated, but we weren't in a rush so it was great!
We came for Fabulicious on a Sunday. The restaurant itself was lovely - great ambience and character. We were early for our reservation and were seated promptly in a wonderful corner window location with a good view of Gate St. and people passing by along with the horse carriages.
The meal was ok - nice choice of selections. The squash soup was described by the waiter as "spicy" and it really was spicy. No problem for me but my wife found it far too spicy and when she had neglected to finish, the waitress asked if it was ok and whether the waiter had mentioned it was spicy or not. She said he had told her but the waitress still offered her another appetizer - a nice touch but my wife didn't ask for another. The meal was quite nice but was somewhat lukewarm - still good though. Dessert was the highlight of the meal - a delicious pumpkin cheesecake. All in all, a nice meal in a lovely restaurant.
We had a great time! Our server was very attentive. We first went for a drink before our meal and had to wait a while to be served. Seemed that there was no bartender and the servers were also manning the bar.
Went for Fabulicious. Everything was amazing. Pumpkin cheese cake was sooo good.
The service was quite good, however perhaps the best way to describe our meal would be inconsistent. The appetizers - one good (french onion soup); one fairly good (sweet potato soup, which would have improved visually and taste-wise with a swirl of balsamic vinegar, rather than the swirl of oil that persisted as a little slick of oil droplets). The rib eye was tender, tasty and cooked to specification, and although the accompanying vegetables had a pleasant appearance, they were oily and lacking in taste. The presentation of the chicken and rice main course was extremely unappetizing - the rice seemed to have been cooked excessively, resulting in a somewhat regurgitated lumpy pudding appearance. The chicken was moist however quite bland. Desserts were the best part of our meal - well presented and tasty - the apple in puff pastry was delicious; the poached pear very nice, with the exception of the sponge toffee pieces, which stuck the patron’s top and bottom teeth completely together.
The food was excellent as always - except that the wait staff whisked away our plates when we were barely finished and then presented the bill as if wanting us to leave ASAP
We have been to Oban Inn many times in the past, as residents of this area. The food is always good as it was on this occasion for the 2017 Fabulicious event.
The salad, salmon, and the chocolate tort were excellent. However, the service is usually lacking to be rated above "average (3 stars at best). We asked one waiter for salt but it never arrived. A bit later as the food was getting cold, we asked another waiter who brought it promptly. No one asked us if we wanted coffee or tea with our dessert at any point. Seemed like they were in a hurry to finish serving us. We went elsewhere to have coffee after eating the delicious tort.
As we were leaving, our coats at the coat check could not be located as we were not given anything to help relocate them. One of us needed to go back to where the coats were hung to help retrieve them.
It is a pity that the excellent efforts of the Chef and the entire kitchen are not adequately completed by some of the others at Oban Inn, which was a problem in previous visits as well.
Go for the food but do not expect great service.
Went to Oban Inn for Fabulicious - great set menu. Goid ambiance
Our meal was delicious. Everything was well-prepared and portions were generous. Our waitress was friendly and helpful but didn't hover. We would eat here again.
The only downside was the couple at the next table who were a bit too loud and too nosy. They wanted to engage us in their conversation when we preferred to be by ourselves. No fault of the restaurant!
Our waitress, Alexa was lovely. The restaurant is small and warm feeling. We had a great table that overlooked the gardens. They are missing an opportunity to set up small landscape lights to view the garden after dark. My husbands Diet Coke was flat. The 2nd glass was fine. Now for the food - my French onion soup was Luke warm, the cheese was still in slice form and was still cold. The broth tasted like a fatty broth. Alexa offered to bring a new another one. Did not take her up on the offer since even heated with melted, bubbly cheese you could not save the flavor. The shrimp and scallops over pasta was flavorless and extremely oily. My salmon over vegetables was extremely oily as well. A great disappointment.
We had a very enjoyable dinner at the Oban Inn. The mushroom soup was good and the salmon main course was very good. The pumpkin cheesecake was excellent - not too sweet. Note - the side of vegetables with the salmon was spicy for my husband and I would recommend that the wait staff always give a heads up if something is on the spicy side. We will definitely come here again
Excellent restaurant with a business casual vibe. The wait staff were very attentive and eagerly recommended a great selection of wines. The food was excellent with a good selection of menu options. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.
The food is excellent the room is beautiful! Special place except that they just seem to have a chronic shortage of well trained staff whenever we dine there. The front of house needs to be beefed up and we would dine there much more often.
We had a nice table by the window, looking out into the garden. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. We haven't been to the Oban Inn for years. At one time portions were really small and prices higher than expected. This has changed.
