Restaurant Oban Inn
Dine in our delightful sunroom overlooking lush English gardens or cozy historic Shaw's Corner and in the chic elegance of our fireside dining room. Ideal for intimate dining or for group celebrations for up to 60 guests. Located only 2-blocks from Queen Street and minutes walk to nearby Shaw Festival Theatres.
Savour delicious "Four Diamond" creations combining Oban classics with modern gastronomy focusing on the Niagara Region's fresh ingredients married with the outstanding harvest of Niagara Wines.
We have been dining at the Oban for many years. Indeed, its usually our first choice. Recently the menu has been adjusted, toward "mainstream dining". Its still OK, but the wow factor has been reduced. Hopefully, the Oban gets its mojo back.....
The menu is very limited, they use too much salt and lots of grease (greasy fish on top of greasy french fried potatoes). The potatoes were soggy and inedible. We visit Niagara on the Lake about once a year, but will not visit Oban again. For the quality of the food, the price was outrageous.
Wonderful experience! The service in this restaurant is outstanding, the food is divine and the environment is beautiful!
Very disappointed!!!! My husband and I had the same item - lamb chops at $35 a plate, plus calamari appetizer which we asked to be cooked differently. The lamb dinner was inedible and although most of the plate was not eaten, we were not asked if we enjoyed dinner. The vegetables tasted like they were pickled and there was so much cilantro covering the dish, it was inedible. The only good part was the creme caramel dessert. This overall meal for $200 with wine was certainly not worth it! Much better value in the town.
Always a very good experience - Alexa is probably the best service individual one could ask for. She is one of the main reasons we keep returning to the Oban. Food and wine are also top notch, but service with Alexa is the best.
The food was amazing! Our server Alexa was very friendly and professional ! It was a great birthday dinner with friends!
Have not been here in the past 2 years, but will make it regular now, every thing was great.
Overall very good place to enjoy a very good lunch/dinner in a most pleasant surrounding. Maybe a wee bit overpriced as with most of the better NOTL eateries.
Loved our server! Wine recommendation was on point! Potatoes for our filet mignonette were a bit undercooked, but everything else was delicious and we had fun!
The food was outstanding but the service was terrible. No welcome at the door. Crammed us into a corner meant for two people and we were four. Poured regular water on top of our sparkling water. Had to ask for bread when it was sitting on the server beside us. Wine was warm in a cool carafe and at $19.00 per serving, it should have been the proper temperature. Waiter told us that the Fabulicious meals are smaller than regular, which I thought was wrong. All in all, the front of the house needs attention while the kitchen put out a great product.
Relaxed surroundings at Inn. Comfortable dining area . Some very
fine Canadian wines on list . Attentive staff.
Valentines Day Special. I'm like Lucy and the football, I go back to Oban looking for the quality and service to match the ambiance, and again, 1 of 3. My Chicken was tough, overcooked and bland, my wifes lamb was delicious. Appetizers and desserts were unremarkable. 45 minutes seated before appetizer arrived an hour later for main, departed at 2.5 hours... serving staff pleasant but slow and unobservant, bread basket empty, asked if we were finished with it. Requested more and got none. So, nice place, but it will be a while before I fall into the ambiance trap again.
The Oban Inn is always a lovely place to eat. I do feel though what I ordered was too small a portion for the price. I ordered a caesar salad with grilled chicken. It was delicious but compared to ordering this type of meal in other restaurants, the cost should be about $6.00 less.
Best dinner in awhile
The set menu was different from what was advertised. No roast beef but a thin slab steak. Salad was weak and didn’t contain menu items. Desert must have made several days ago as it was stale. I have been many times to this restaurant but I think the were not performing for Christmas Day
Old world charm
The service was outstanding. Jimmy was attentive, friendly, and professional, yet made for a fun experience. Food was top-notch. Everything exceeded expectations.
Great food, great service ....we totally enjoyed our dinner! tks
The food, service and ambiance were very good. I would definitely recommend.
The Oban Inn has been a favorite of ours for many years. It was remodeled several years ago, taking away the front enclosed porch where we used to love to sit, eat and look at the mouth of the Niagara River, where it empties into Lake Ontario. You cannot do that anymore; that area is now a spa. However, this time we ate on the side porch, and it was more casual, but very nice, with white tablecloths, quiet ambience, and excellent service. The food was very good and the wine list was just fine (we had a cabernet). This is a great place to eat lunch or dinner, and the chef is very capable, serving up some old favorites with new twists. You can also eat inside, near the bar, in a very cozy room full of pictures of Shaw Theatre characters and actors.
Awesome location, great service & food was delicious.
Have enjoyed dining here on a number of occasions and they never disappoint. Great place to eat and a wonderful place to stay as well.
My date and I found the cuisine, service, and ambiance to be excellent. The restaurant is a wonderful place to sit and chat! The buffet breakfast was continental style, and excellent. I look forward to another visit to the restaurant.
We arrived a little after 8:00 PM for an 8:15 reservation time and were told to sit at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready. It took well over 20 minutes to get bar menus and we were finally seated around 9PM in the bar area (not in the proper dining room - thus no white table cloths, etc.) as our table was still occupied by the previous diners lingering over desserts. Two of us ordered from the Fabulicious menu (three courses) and our husbands both ordered appetizers and the burgers. My husband's appetizer (the pork belly) was a very small serving of overcooked pork with salad. My soup (turnip puree) and main (red curry cod) were ok but both lukewarm. The burgers and fries were both tasty. Not sure if our food was the way it was since it was the end of the night (mains were served at 10PM), but needless to say we were a bit underwhelmed. Our server was very lovely, apologetic, and checked in often. Additionally, our first round of drinks were comped due to our wait, which was appreciated.
A wonderful evening. The service was very attentive and friendly. The menu had some excellent choices which made it especially hard to choose. The meals were presented superbly. Both were cooked to perfection. A great way for us to end our day exploring Niigara on the Lake.
Lovely lunch during Fabulicious. Comfortable dining room and great service.
Good food and atmosphere.
Only the two of us there and we were looked after well.
The only feedback I’d offer is the Musak—Was a bit chintzy/tacky Jazz. Classical would have suited the ambiance better.
Ambiente raffinato e di ottima atmosfera. Personale squisito
Great food and service before a play at the Shaw. Everything was good-the walk down by the lake, the garden in full bloom in October, the jazz music on the sound system. And our marvellous waitress.
The charcuterie was excellent and the service was very attentive. Entrees were OK but not inspiring.
This restaurant seems to be busy because the older clientele, exotic spice may be salt and peppers, salads were boring ,store bought dressings, my pasta with seafood, was missing pasta !!! Really , for a buck they could of loaded it up ! Taste was ok but a poor job , wife’s cod was dry and tasteless, decor needs updating and maybe a new chef !
Had a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner. It was perfect.
Four of us had a marvelous dining experience on Saturday evening! The duck confit two of us had was succulent and perfectly done. The seafood pasta dish was outstanding. The grilled cod was slightly overdone on the ends but moist and flavorful otherwise.
Our waitress, Kate, was attentive and pleasant.
As somewhat hard of hearing seniors, the ambiance was perfect for conversation,
Absolutely delicious! Beautiful location and a great spot for a quiet dinner. Loved it!
Had a table by the window overlooking the garden with its beautiful flowers. We were there for a pre show dinner and there was no rush.
A must when we go to the Shaw festival. Excellent preparation, presentation, and taste. Great use of texture and ingredients. Service is very good and prices are nice for the area and the quality.
We went to the Oban Inn between shows at the Shaw. Nice atmosphere overlooking a lovely garden. Pickeral and beef were very good. Good service.
It's fine, and a destination...but quite over 'promoted'--
Everything we hoped it would be for our special anniversary dinner.
