restaurant Max Ratings and Reviews
Had an amazing time. We were a few min late. I had tried to call but no one answered as we arrived and stated we had reservations they New ya by name. Said we have a nice bar table area u might like it was super nice. Waitress was great. And over all just really enjoyed our time there. Hamburgers were yum although a tad to greasy it squirted all over and stained my top
You might want to think twice about dining here. There was nothing special about the food, service or atmosphere. I had a Groupon I had to use here and it still cost us 60 dollars! Wish I could find something nice to say but to be honest, there are tons of restaurants where your money and time would be better spent, or better yet, pick something up and stay home.
Extremely long wait for food. Our server was absent, and said nothing about the reason for the long wait nor offered nothing. A manager then delivered two of our four meals and told us their computer went down for about two hours (that would have been good information to know!), they were working off paper tickets, and asked what else else were missing, and again, offered nothing. This was extremely disappointing to me because this is a facility that I schedule have work meetings and events.
Enjoyed a delicious dinner at Restaurant Max where our server (Brittany) was friendly and attentive. The handsome dining room was nearly empty (on a Friday evening), likely due to an exodus from the city for the Labor Day weekend. The bar was lively with patrons, and there was also a family party in one of the private dining rooms. Spouse ordered chicken marsala which was wonderful and served over polenta. I had broiled walleye, prepared and seasoned expertly, accompanied by a medley of pickled vegetables (asparagus, carrot, onion, cauliflower) and roasted potatoes. A very fine evening.
It is never a good sign when you can easily get a reservation on a Friday night when others are fully booked, that is how we ended up here. When we arrived, we were told the dining room was closed due to staffing shortages, and to grab a place in the bar area. That was inconvenient, but not terrible. The only good thing after that was our drinks. The food was flavorless and overpriced. Not a good experience. I will not be going back, nor will I allow anyone I like to eat here. It's a great location and great space, too bad it misses the mark in so many ways.
The only good thing about Max was the wine and beer we had for dinner. The chicken wild rice soup was bland, the chicken marsala was cold and overly sweet, and the margarita flatbread was soggy. We were very happy that we had a Groupon to the restaurant because it was so disappointing.
Food was fairly good, but the shrimp in my sandwich was overcooked and a tail was left on. Two in my party commented to the waiter about their drink tasting odd, and rather than just apologize and fix it, he got defensive, made excuses and then slammed the replacement drinks on the table. Unprofessional.
I normally absolutely love the food at Max. This time was a bit different. The scallops were the best around, but they haven't been on the menu in some time. I had the walleye, it came with broccoli rabe, which was tough, bitter and inedible. My husband had a hamburger and sweet potatoe fries, which was good. The server never asked if we wanted desert or something else to eat/drink, just brought the bill. When I told her how bitter the rabe was she indicated it was the second time already that night she had heard that (we ate early at 6:30ish), and said "I'll tell Jim" - that's it, nothing more was said or done about it. Considering a huge portion of the plate was comprised of the rabe, I was surprised. The potatoes were good that I had, and the walleye was good - but served without any lemon wedge or sauce. Granted, I could have asked, but the server wasn't around a lot...My opinion of Max is unfortunately changing...
The beautifully restored and elegant dining room area at Max's was closed off during our Saturday evening visit. We were told to seat ourselves anywhere we wished, in the bar area, but it did not have the classy ambiance of the dining room. So, our evening was a bit of a disappointment.
the restaurant was slow when we got there. i think there were maybe 10 people total. my husband and I were there for a romantic dinner and while the waitress was amazing......the food was blah. the steak was super fatty, the potato was obviously made well ahead of time as it tasted kinda old. the deserts we ordered to go were super small for the price and the butterscotch pudding was actually kinda gross. my husband got the same dinner i did and he thought it was ok. he likes a fattier cut of meat but he did wonder how old the potatoes were. overall we had a good time but the food was a miss.
The service was very slow on this visit and not very attentive. My tuna melt was not really "melted" - it was cold. We were allowed to stay as long as we wanted, which was good as we had a lot of chatting and catching up to do. All in all, an off day at Max but will not keep me from going again.
I was organizing a dinner for a group and one of the people were staying at the hotel so we decided to try restaurant Max. We were not disappointed. Our server was very attentive and nice. Everything we got food-wise people loved. My wife especially thought her rib-eye was delicious. It's also nice to have valet parking and the staff there was pleasant as well. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely go back or recommend this place.
