Restaurant Martin Ratings and Reviews
We moved permanently to Santa Fe nine months ago after coming here on vacation most of the past nine years. Once we got here we created a list of restaurants that we wanted to try. Restaurant Week Santa Fe gave us an opportunity to have dinner at Restaurant Martin. We’re very happy with our decision. Everything from the ambience to the service to the food was very good. My wife had the salmon for dinner and I had the chicken: our comments were the same - the food seemed to melt in our mouths. My only quibble is the limited amount of parking on the restaurant property but the restaurant does have an agreement with another organization to use their parking lot around the corner after 5:00 p.m. which we used. That said, we have found another top-shelf restaurant along with Geronimo to choose from in Santa Fe.
We will return to select from Restaurant Martin’s non-Restaurant Week menu.
We have been to Restaurant Martin previously and we were really looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. The service and attention were excellent and the food and presention were outstanding. It is one of perhaps 3 restaurants in Santa Fe that we will always return to.
As always, in a city of many great dining options, Restaurant Martin comes out on top. We have dined there many times every year, and indeed followed Martin Rios from restaurant to restaurant before he had his own place, and never failed to be thrilled at the experience of eating his cooking. As good as it gets.
Butternut squash/Apple bisque was exquisite. Entrees beautifully plated and tasty, but the carrots and turnips were only an inch long after I cut the tops off; pretty but would have liked more edible parts. Great restaurant but be prepared for very high prices.
They need a valet -- had to park around the corner, 2 blocks in 30 degree weather -- also they had one server, one busser, and one maitre d' to serve the restaurant --the waitress was amazing given the fact she had at least 9 tables to wait on - also given the high level of food and price, no table cloths ?
We came here for anniversary dinner, during the Super Bowl.
Absolutely a GEM. The food was awesome along with the service.
A must the lump crab and lobster appetizer! For main course we had the evenings special of scallops, and ended with the chocolate textile dessert.
I must say I ordered an Irish coffee and upon presentation it was a little disappointing BUT, looks deceive. This was the best Irish coffee I have had.
I cannot fail to mention the candle in the dessert and the Happy Anniversary wishes!!!
The little things that are so awesome!
If your in Santa Fe make sure you come to Restaurant Martin!
Really nice place and we will go back. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for food is that my spouse’s rack of lamb was unevenly cooked. Not fatal, but not perfect. Other than that, excellent service and nice menu. Nice wine selection with well priced options as well.
Nothing spectacular. Way too pricy for what you get. Waitress did not even know much about the dishes when we asked her questions. She said she had not tried them. We were there for a birthday celebration. They don't even bring out dessert for the birthday girl. The flavors on the chicken sandwich had a weird sweet cinnamon flavors added to it. Did not like. The AHI poke salad was ok but kind of plain. The bills was very pricy for not being satisfied. Waitress was not very friendly. Wine prices were ridiculous.
My date was with my wife for her birthday! While there is a large selection of very good restaurants in Santa Fe we have picked this one for special occasions. The food is what we like to refer to as haute cuisine, cooking by a very serious chef who is well aware of the ingredients he is putting together so everything tastes special.
The portions are not American size but medium size with plenty of food but not overwhelming.
It is not cheap but not over the top either and most important you get what you pay for - a pleasant atmosphere where you can talk quietly with your date and enjoy special food catered by a very cordial and attentive staff.
Apple, leek parsnip bisque was best soup I ever had. Prawn polenta excellent. The chef really pays attention to details. Presentations are beautiful. Quiet place for lunch
For dessert had a little serving of ice cream which was excellent. Very tasty and small portion was just right to accompany coffee after a big lunch.
A meal at Restaurant Martin is always at the top of our list of things to do when we visit Santa Fe (from Denver). The cuisine is always innovative without being "precious" and has a freshness of ingredients that you don't always find. We highly recommend Restaurant Martin for lunch or dinner.
New Year's Eve dinner. Prix Fixe five course menu. Each plate (except vegetarian tasting plate) was a work of art consisting of meticulously selected and arranged ingredients that highlighted complementary flavors and textures. Great wine selections. Service felt a bit chaotic but worked with a range of staff monitoring your table as they pass and identifying and addressing any needs. Vegetarian option for main course was "vegetarian tasting plate." Items on the plate lacked creativity, flavor, and presentation of other dishes. If you're a vegetarian, your money could be better spent elsewhere unless and until the chef decides to apply his craft and art to non-meat options.
This was my second time dining at Restaurant Martin and it was just great! It's a beautiful restaurant inside and the first time I came here, I dined on the patio and it was so comfortable and enjoyable. The food is excellent and the service is professional and personable. What more could you ask for? We live in Albuquerque and it is so worth going up to Santa Fe. I will be dining here again and again.
We had a lovely dinner at Restaurant Martin for my birthday. Portions are not large, but the cuisine was creative, presented beautifully, and each flavor was delicious. They were fully booked that evening, but our service was good and attentive. We shared the beet salad (small but delicious), both had the seared tuna (excellent), and ended with the molten chocolate cake (fantastic!). An expensive dinner, but worth it. Looking forward to trying their lunch menu.
Martin is a lovely restaurant with very good food. Our server Jesse did a great job even though he was extremely busy. The food was good but my chicken was a little dry. My husband's tenderloin/short rib was excellent. Dessert was a very imaginatively presented creme brûlée, which was very good.
We chose this restaurant because we'd been there before. It was quiet and had good food. This time, however, the evening of 12/25, not so much. We arrived promptly at 7:00, as did 3 other couples. We all had to wait about 10 min. Then, to our amazement, we were seated in a glass room (converted garage) on their patio that had concrete floors and could not have been any more noisy. There was a party of 8 to our right and one of 7 to our left. It was awful. I was incredibly disappointed. It was $95 a person for 3 courses, excluding wine, taxes and gratuity. My 1st course of hamachi crudo was wonderful, as were my lamb chops. My husbands beef tenderloin (grass-fed), although cooked to rare like he likes it, was tough and tasteless. His beet salad was pretty ordinary. The rum baba for dessert was also tasteless and dry. The only bright spot was our server, Heidi. She was knowledgeable, pleasant, and the bright spot of the meal. We will not be going back. On the other hand, our dinner the night before at La Casa Sena was outstanding all the way around. BTW, we have eaten at highly rated restaurant around the world, as well as excellent casual ones, so, we what we're talking about.
We chose Restaurant Martin for our Christmas dinner because of the menu selection. It was heavy on local seasonal vegetables, varied choices and creatively presented. I do not eat gluten or meat and although there was nothing on the menu that stated gluten free, there were plenty of choices and I was satisfied. The service was professional and friendly without being stuffy. We will definitely return for another special occasion.
We went to Martin's for Christmas brunch. It was a rather pricey prix fixe. All of the food was great with the exception of my desert. I am gluten sensitive, and all the listed deserts had gluten in one form or another. They were able to give me three sorbets as an alternative. It was good but not special.
