Great to try a new place during restaurant week, that turns out to be fabulous!
Very nice place, excellent service, food a little surprising, small portions, which is ok,
very lite Caesar salad dressing, crab cakes seemed premade and stringy rather than lump
dessert small but tasty, thats good for my diet. Would go again and ask more about what
i might be ordering. JHR
As a solo diner, service means a lot. It was efficient, but not warm. The most noticeable thing was the manager checking in personally on the last few tables, chatting and asking details about the evening’s highlights and then walking past my little solo table as if I was poor staff on break. As for the food, it was good, but nothing really stood out. For example, I have memories of savoring certain dishes, in SF in particular at Coyote, Bouche, Joseph’s, and Geronimo, but this evening and in my previous experience visiting here, nothing stood out. Bread and raviolo appetizer was also over salty, to me, a big no-no. Overall, I just don’t get the praise or awards this place gets.
Always enjoy this place. Food presentation is beautiful. One our go-to places in Santa Fe.
We sat side-by-side facing a couple sitting the same way facing us. They appeared to be close friends of the maître D' (he seated us.) who frequently poured beverages for them, and asked how they were doing with his back to us. He never once said a word to us, which felt quite rude. Otherwise, we had a pleasant evening. The food was good, but not outstanding as we had expected.
The entire dinning experience was a delight.
Restaurant Week menu was delicious and well priced. Service was excellent even keeping the kitchen open for our travel plans were delayed. Well worth the effort we made to get here!
We had restaurant week dinner at Restaurant Martin. The butternut apple soup was literally the best thing I ate all week, and I have eaten at six (yes, six) different restaurant so far this week. Go - you won't be sorry.
Food was delicious, excellent presentation and excellent service.
People were served before us that came after us in the restaurant. It took a long time for food in the excuse was it was restaurant week. Shouldn’t they have been prepared? It was very expensive… And I mean very very expensive ...
It was not worth it
We had a reservation for 6:15 Sunday night and were seated by 6:20 due to others waiting just inside the doorway, where they also stored some of their wine, so things got tight when the wine steward had to open the door of the cooler into the crowd waiting. The host was very pleasant and showed us to a table in the building out back of the house. We were there for the prix fixe menu for Restaurant Week, so ordering was easy. We had to wait until 7:15 for our apps, so sipped our beverages and chowed down on their very good bread. The apps were fantastic--we both got the house-made ravilolo. Half an hour later, we go our entrees, which were also delicious. I had the roasted chicken and my date had the beef and both were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Desert was a chocolate truffle cake--kind of like a volcano cake, but smaller, and cinnamon ice cream, all delicious. We peeked into the kitchen on our way our and Martin was there with his staff. We enjoyed the food immensely, but the slow service was a problem.
We moved permanently to Santa Fe nine months ago after coming here on vacation most of the past nine years. Once we got here we created a list of restaurants that we wanted to try. Restaurant Week Santa Fe gave us an opportunity to have dinner at Restaurant Martin. We’re very happy with our decision. Everything from the ambience to the service to the food was very good. My wife had the salmon for dinner and I had the chicken: our comments were the same - the food seemed to melt in our mouths. My only quibble is the limited amount of parking on the restaurant property but the restaurant does have an agreement with another organization to use their parking lot around the corner after 5:00 p.m. which we used. That said, we have found another top-shelf restaurant along with Geronimo to choose from in Santa Fe.
We will return to select from Restaurant Martin’s non-Restaurant Week menu.
Went during restaurant week. Food was a bit bland. For example, my Caesar salad was uninspired. Lettuce was crispy, cheese tasty but ‘croutons’ were just toasted bread without flavor and dressing was too creamy (think ranch dressing!) and boring. No zing or bright citrus flavor. Desserts were similarly uninspired- not worth the calories or money. Not sure I’d go back.
The food was outstanding! Amazing tastes! Portions were small but adequate. We were celebrating our friends' wedding and it was perfect.
Incredibly good food served in very creative ways. Also very creatively & colorfully plated.
We have been to Restaurant Martin previously and we were really looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. The service and attention were excellent and the food and presention were outstanding. It is one of perhaps 3 restaurants in Santa Fe that we will always return to.
