Disappointing. Food was mediocre. Would assume Chef Martin was not working the night we were there. The presentation was sad. The filet was inconsistent running from medium rare to well done. Chicken was varied and not chicken breast. When we arrived at seven there was one occupied table. That should have told us something was not right. Don’t know how this restaurant won the James Beard 2016 award.
Super awesome. Nice quiet Sunday dinner date. We are locals and the second time we have been to Martin’s. Excellent. excellent. excellent. Always a spectacular meal. A spa day for your taste buds.
Great food. Great service. Comfortable and casual atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
Lovely quiet restaurant, with leisurely service. Food truly excellent. Water glasses refilled often, but no offer of more bread. We were with friends, and actually appreciated the slowness of it all. Small and excellent menu, and we'll go back. We really loved the quietness, so that we could have a proper conversation.
Only served beer and wine. No margaritas on st. Patrick's day. Waitress seemed confused and not helpful. Couldn't find reservation at first.
Excellent food and service in this intimate dining setting.
We have eaten at Restaurant Martin before and enjoyed it. In fact we have followed chef Martin through many restaurants starting with the Old House at the Eldorado. This night things did not go well. Let me just say the food, as expected, was very good. The service was not. We waited a very long time for our food when the restaurant wasn’t even very busy. Occasionally someone would come by and say the food was coming, but it wasn’t. Eventually we spoke to the floor manager and he initially made excuses. When he went back to the kitchen he realized there really was a problem and things got moving. Unlike a similar recent situation at Bouche, the situation was handled well, after the fact, and the appropriate adjustments were made. However, with the competition among restaurants in Santa Fe, great food alone won’t keep you in business. We dine out frequently and we know restaurants have bad nights, so we spoke to someone who is a concierge to see if she had heard anything about the restaurant. She said she had become hesitant to recommend Restaurant Martin due to feedback from her referrals. I genuinely hope that the restaurant will review their service and bring it up to a level that matches Martin’s food.
Excellent interest food, well prepared and beautifully presented.
Overpriced. Nothing special at all. Overrated for certain.
Always superb. Great chef. Lovely presentations. The lamb was divine....the fennel puree was outstanding.
Sadly disappointing service. It was the birthday of one person in our party visiting from Portland. I emailed and requested the proverbial candle on his dessert. I then called and spoke to Jennifer to confirm the restaurant had received my request and was assured it had. But when dessert was served, no candle. I had assured his wife that the request had been received and would be honored. Embarrassing to me personally and disappointing that we could not commemorate this special occasion among old friends. The food and wine were excellent. It was lost in the details.
Our first time here but we’ll definitely be back. The food was great, and the place just felt good.
What an amazing dinner and dining experience. The service was attentive and informed. The food presentations were amazing and the quality and flavors.....OMG. I can't say enough about what an all around top notch dining experience this was. Can't wait to go back.
Grey service and always creative and wonderful menu. Food great except filet that was a bit tough. Great evening!
One of our favorites - creative and delicious food!
Our server, Ana, had waited on us in a different venue earlier in the week. She treated us like family and provided excellent service again. Chef Martin's creativity and attention to detail in presentation produced culinary gems! An extensive, high quality wine list offers good pairing options as well as all around drinking choices in this beer and wine only venue. A return visit is in the future.
Absolutely exceptional food and presentation - typical of Martin! Knowledgeable wait staff. We believe this is the best fine dining experience in Santa Fe bar none. Very reasonable prices for what you get.
We were a party of five. We were there during Restaurant Week. Everyone had a different combination of the 3 courses and thought the food was delicious and beautifully presented. We split a bottle of wine. A very enjoyable evening. The final bill was as expected.
Restaurant Martin is a great dining spot. We went during restaurant week and both my husband and I enjoyed our dinners. The butternut squash apple bisque was amazing. We also had salmon and chicken and both were good.
Every time we visit Santa Fe, Restaurant Martin' is at the top of our list for "must do" places to eat. He never disappoints us whether it's lunch or dinner. On this visit to SF, we did both!!
I had not tried Restaurant Martin in quite some time. Just not on my radar. So I was excited to try it after so many years. AND it did not disappoint. The food was not only creatively displayed but was so utterly delicious. I am hooked again with this restaurant. The summer months on the patio are heavenly, but last night, it was warm and cozy.
Delicious food from beginning to end. Our table was by the front door and it was drafty and noisy as there is no place for guests to wait (other than the bar). I give this restaurant high marks for food and service but low marks for ambiance.
I ordered th vegetable tasting during restaurant week. So fantastic! Best risotto I’ve ever eaten.
Great to try a new place during restaurant week, that turns out to be fabulous!
Very nice place, excellent service, food a little surprising, small portions, which is ok,
very lite Caesar salad dressing, crab cakes seemed premade and stringy rather than lump
dessert small but tasty, thats good for my diet. Would go again and ask more about what
i might be ordering. JHR
As a solo diner, service means a lot. It was efficient, but not warm. The most noticeable thing was the manager checking in personally on the last few tables, chatting and asking details about the evening’s highlights and then walking past my little solo table as if I was poor staff on break. As for the food, it was good, but nothing really stood out. For example, I have memories of savoring certain dishes, in SF in particular at Coyote, Bouche, Joseph’s, and Geronimo, but this evening and in my previous experience visiting here, nothing stood out. Bread and raviolo appetizer was also over salty, to me, a big no-no. Overall, I just don’t get the praise or awards this place gets.
Always enjoy this place. Food presentation is beautiful. One our go-to places in Santa Fe.
We sat side-by-side facing a couple sitting the same way facing us. They appeared to be close friends of the maître D' (he seated us.) who frequently poured beverages for them, and asked how they were doing with his back to us. He never once said a word to us, which felt quite rude. Otherwise, we had a pleasant evening. The food was good, but not outstanding as we had expected.
The entire dinning experience was a delight.
Restaurant Week menu was delicious and well priced. Service was excellent even keeping the kitchen open for our travel plans were delayed. Well worth the effort we made to get here!
We had restaurant week dinner at Restaurant Martin. The butternut apple soup was literally the best thing I ate all week, and I have eaten at six (yes, six) different restaurant so far this week. Go - you won't be sorry.
Food was delicious, excellent presentation and excellent service.
People were served before us that came after us in the restaurant. It took a long time for food in the excuse was it was restaurant week. Shouldn’t they have been prepared? It was very expensive… And I mean very very expensive ...
It was not worth it
We had a reservation for 6:15 Sunday night and were seated by 6:20 due to others waiting just inside the doorway, where they also stored some of their wine, so things got tight when the wine steward had to open the door of the cooler into the crowd waiting. The host was very pleasant and showed us to a table in the building out back of the house. We were there for the prix fixe menu for Restaurant Week, so ordering was easy. We had to wait until 7:15 for our apps, so sipped our beverages and chowed down on their very good bread. The apps were fantastic--we both got the house-made ravilolo. Half an hour later, we go our entrees, which were also delicious. I had the roasted chicken and my date had the beef and both were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Desert was a chocolate truffle cake--kind of like a volcano cake, but smaller, and cinnamon ice cream, all delicious. We peeked into the kitchen on our way our and Martin was there with his staff. We enjoyed the food immensely, but the slow service was a problem.
We moved permanently to Santa Fe nine months ago after coming here on vacation most of the past nine years. Once we got here we created a list of restaurants that we wanted to try. Restaurant Week Santa Fe gave us an opportunity to have dinner at Restaurant Martin. We’re very happy with our decision. Everything from the ambience to the service to the food was very good. My wife had the salmon for dinner and I had the chicken: our comments were the same - the food seemed to melt in our mouths. My only quibble is the limited amount of parking on the restaurant property but the restaurant does have an agreement with another organization to use their parking lot around the corner after 5:00 p.m. which we used. That said, we have found another top-shelf restaurant along with Geronimo to choose from in Santa Fe.
We will return to select from Restaurant Martin’s non-Restaurant Week menu.
Went during restaurant week. Food was a bit bland. For example, my Caesar salad was uninspired. Lettuce was crispy, cheese tasty but ‘croutons’ were just toasted bread without flavor and dressing was too creamy (think ranch dressing!) and boring. No zing or bright citrus flavor. Desserts were similarly uninspired- not worth the calories or money. Not sure I’d go back.
The food was outstanding! Amazing tastes! Portions were small but adequate. We were celebrating our friends' wedding and it was perfect.
Incredibly good food served in very creative ways. Also very creatively & colorfully plated.
We have been to Restaurant Martin previously and we were really looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. The service and attention were excellent and the food and presention were outstanding. It is one of perhaps 3 restaurants in Santa Fe that we will always return to.
As always, in a city of many great dining options, Restaurant Martin comes out on top. We have dined there many times every year, and indeed followed Martin Rios from restaurant to restaurant before he had his own place, and never failed to be thrilled at the experience of eating his cooking. As good as it gets.
What a perfect place for Valentines dinner. We love having special occasions at Restaurant Martin!
