As a solo diner, service means a lot. It was efficient, but not warm. The most noticeable thing was the manager checking in personally on the last few tables, chatting and asking details about the evening’s highlights and then walking past my little solo table as if I was poor staff on break. As for the food, it was good, but nothing really stood out. For example, I have memories of savoring certain dishes, in SF in particular at Coyote, Bouche, Joseph’s, and Geronimo, but this evening and in my previous experience visiting here, nothing stood out. Bread and raviolo appetizer was also over salty, to me, a big no-no. Overall, I just don’t get the praise or awards this place gets.
The entire dinning experience was a delight.
Restaurant Week menu was delicious and well priced. Service was excellent even keeping the kitchen open for our travel plans were delayed. Well worth the effort we made to get here!
We had restaurant week dinner at Restaurant Martin. The butternut apple soup was literally the best thing I ate all week, and I have eaten at six (yes, six) different restaurant so far this week. Go - you won't be sorry.
Food was delicious, excellent presentation and excellent service.
We had a reservation for 6:15 Sunday night and were seated by 6:20 due to others waiting just inside the doorway, where they also stored some of their wine, so things got tight when the wine steward had to open the door of the cooler into the crowd waiting. The host was very pleasant and showed us to a table in the building out back of the house. We were there for the prix fixe menu for Restaurant Week, so ordering was easy. We had to wait until 7:15 for our apps, so sipped our beverages and chowed down on their very good bread. The apps were fantastic--we both got the house-made ravilolo. Half an hour later, we go our entrees, which were also delicious. I had the roasted chicken and my date had the beef and both were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Desert was a chocolate truffle cake--kind of like a volcano cake, but smaller, and cinnamon ice cream, all delicious. We peeked into the kitchen on our way our and Martin was there with his staff. We enjoyed the food immensely, but the slow service was a problem.
We moved permanently to Santa Fe nine months ago after coming here on vacation most of the past nine years. Once we got here we created a list of restaurants that we wanted to try. Restaurant Week Santa Fe gave us an opportunity to have dinner at Restaurant Martin. We’re very happy with our decision. Everything from the ambience to the service to the food was very good. My wife had the salmon for dinner and I had the chicken: our comments were the same - the food seemed to melt in our mouths. My only quibble is the limited amount of parking on the restaurant property but the restaurant does have an agreement with another organization to use their parking lot around the corner after 5:00 p.m. which we used. That said, we have found another top-shelf restaurant along with Geronimo to choose from in Santa Fe.
We will return to select from Restaurant Martin’s non-Restaurant Week menu.
Went during restaurant week. Food was a bit bland. For example, my Caesar salad was uninspired. Lettuce was crispy, cheese tasty but ‘croutons’ were just toasted bread without flavor and dressing was too creamy (think ranch dressing!) and boring. No zing or bright citrus flavor. Desserts were similarly uninspired- not worth the calories or money. Not sure I’d go back.
The food was outstanding! Amazing tastes! Portions were small but adequate. We were celebrating our friends' wedding and it was perfect.
Incredibly good food served in very creative ways. Also very creatively & colorfully plated.
We have been to Restaurant Martin previously and we were really looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. The service and attention were excellent and the food and presention were outstanding. It is one of perhaps 3 restaurants in Santa Fe that we will always return to.
As always, in a city of many great dining options, Restaurant Martin comes out on top. We have dined there many times every year, and indeed followed Martin Rios from restaurant to restaurant before he had his own place, and never failed to be thrilled at the experience of eating his cooking. As good as it gets.
What a perfect place for Valentines dinner. We love having special occasions at Restaurant Martin!
Butternut squash/Apple bisque was exquisite. Entrees beautifully plated and tasty, but the carrots and turnips were only an inch long after I cut the tops off; pretty but would have liked more edible parts. Great restaurant but be prepared for very high prices.
Restaurant Martin was excellent--we especially loved the molten chocolate cake dessert and the lamb chops.
Absolutely fabulous... everything is top notch
Heidi is fantastic
They need a valet -- had to park around the corner, 2 blocks in 30 degree weather -- also they had one server, one busser, and one maitre d' to serve the restaurant --the waitress was amazing given the fact she had at least 9 tables to wait on - also given the high level of food and price, no table cloths ?
We came here for anniversary dinner, during the Super Bowl.
Absolutely a GEM. The food was awesome along with the service.
A must the lump crab and lobster appetizer! For main course we had the evenings special of scallops, and ended with the chocolate textile dessert.
I must say I ordered an Irish coffee and upon presentation it was a little disappointing BUT, looks deceive. This was the best Irish coffee I have had.
I cannot fail to mention the candle in the dessert and the Happy Anniversary wishes!!!
The little things that are so awesome!
If your in Santa Fe make sure you come to Restaurant Martin!
It was our last night in SANTA Fe
We asked for a nice location
The restaurant was not populated
We sat near the changing station and down the hallway from the bathroom
So we had bathroom traffic
Waitress was lovely
Really nice place and we will go back. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for food is that my spouse’s rack of lamb was unevenly cooked. Not fatal, but not perfect. Other than that, excellent service and nice menu. Nice wine selection with well priced options as well.
Nothing spectacular. Way too pricy for what you get. Waitress did not even know much about the dishes when we asked her questions. She said she had not tried them. We were there for a birthday celebration. They don't even bring out dessert for the birthday girl. The flavors on the chicken sandwich had a weird sweet cinnamon flavors added to it. Did not like. The AHI poke salad was ok but kind of plain. The bills was very pricy for not being satisfied. Waitress was not very friendly. Wine prices were ridiculous.
My date was with my wife for her birthday! While there is a large selection of very good restaurants in Santa Fe we have picked this one for special occasions. The food is what we like to refer to as haute cuisine, cooking by a very serious chef who is well aware of the ingredients he is putting together so everything tastes special.
The portions are not American size but medium size with plenty of food but not overwhelming.
It is not cheap but not over the top either and most important you get what you pay for - a pleasant atmosphere where you can talk quietly with your date and enjoy special food catered by a very cordial and attentive staff.
very enjoyable and delicious, a bit pricey-but worth it.
Apple, leek parsnip bisque was best soup I ever had. Prawn polenta excellent. The chef really pays attention to details. Presentations are beautiful. Quiet place for lunch
For dessert had a little serving of ice cream which was excellent. Very tasty and small portion was just right to accompany coffee after a big lunch.
A meal at Restaurant Martin is always at the top of our list of things to do when we visit Santa Fe (from Denver). The cuisine is always innovative without being "precious" and has a freshness of ingredients that you don't always find. We highly recommend Restaurant Martin for lunch or dinner.
Wow! Our recent experience at Restaurant Martin was delightful. Their food is exquisitely tasteful and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional. We look forward to our next meal there. Kudos!
food was excellent but overpriced! Table was noisy due to children and the parents trying to engage them at 9:00pm New Years eve. Service was very slow, had to leave before being served our dessert.
New Year's Eve dinner. Prix Fixe five course menu. Each plate (except vegetarian tasting plate) was a work of art consisting of meticulously selected and arranged ingredients that highlighted complementary flavors and textures. Great wine selections. Service felt a bit chaotic but worked with a range of staff monitoring your table as they pass and identifying and addressing any needs. Vegetarian option for main course was "vegetarian tasting plate." Items on the plate lacked creativity, flavor, and presentation of other dishes. If you're a vegetarian, your money could be better spent elsewhere unless and until the chef decides to apply his craft and art to non-meat options.
Always a wonderful experience, exceptional service, unique and flavorful menu
The food at brunch was as good as the food at dinner but the prices are lower. Brunch is a nice alternative at less than half the price.
This was my second time dining at Restaurant Martin and it was just great! It's a beautiful restaurant inside and the first time I came here, I dined on the patio and it was so comfortable and enjoyable. The food is excellent and the service is professional and personable. What more could you ask for? We live in Albuquerque and it is so worth going up to Santa Fe. I will be dining here again and again.
