A very nice evening out. Food (Duck & Salmon) was beautifully prepared. Wine selection was extensive with a wide choice in taste and cost. The service was superb.
It doesn't get any better than this!
My new favorite place for great dining.
Absolutely unbelievable from start to finish!
Perfect restaurant to come back to with friends from out of town. We all enjoyed the excellent food and service. Greg was a super waiter and we thoroughly enjoyed every one of the several appetizers, entrees, and desserts that we had.
Host was accommodating, the server was knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive. He took special care our youngest diner and made her feel special. The food was delicious and beautifully presented with generous portions. Chef Martin and his lovely wife Jennifer continue to deliver one of the best dining experiences in Santa Fe. It’s no wonder he’s been recognized by the James Beard Foundation so many times!
We had a lovely anniversary dinner. Food was delicious and the service was great.
This was, undoubtably the worst dining experience we have had as long as we can remember. The server was not attentive, and when we tried to get his attention he ignored us and disappeared into the kitchen for 10 minutes. The prix fixe price included a mandatory 20% tip. The tenderloin was overcooked, dry, and bland. The ambiance is totally devoid of any personality. I have seen better in a truck stop. To add to our misery, a bus person ran by the table and hit the empty chair at our table and knocked it into my knee. Later this "lady" taunted us every time she went by the table. When we asked for the manager, she came out and was argumentative when I sent my entree back. I did not eat it or the dessert. We were still billed over $300. Don't waste your time or money.
Some of the best food I've eaten in a long time. You won't be dissapointed.
We dined at Restaurant Martin for Thanksgiving with their prix fixe menu. First of all, the tables are so close together you are dining with the strangers next to you. One can hear every word of every conversation around you, a personal pet peave. The menu choices and flavors of the food were outstanding however. The reason I gave the food category fewer stars was my dressing and mashed potatoes arrived cold. I mentioned it to the waitress right away and after several attempts did get new sides but I was finished with my turkey. No compensation was made. The service was some of the worst we’ve experienced, with everything from difficulty getting new silverware that had been removed, to having coffee delivered well before the dessert so there was none to enjoy; refills were never offered. I realize the challenge of finding excellent staff these days but it’s unfortunate nonetheless.
The food is always special . Beautiful presentation, exquisite tastes. Excellent service. This was Thanksgiving dinner and they were busy but nothing was out of place. You would never have known the kitchen was no doubt slammed. Love this place!
Special thanksgiving meal. Couldn't have been better. Good range of entrees. Service excellently paced. Enjoyed ourselves for over two hours. Not rushed! Thanks toMartin's for being open.
We always have a great experience at Restaurant Martin. The food is exceptional and the staff are friendly.
Great Thanksgiving dining experience. On point staff and an amazing grand mingling of flavors from start to finish. Our taste buds we're on a joyous overloaded adventure. We're out of towners, but we'll be back...
We had heard marvelous things about this restaurant for a couple years, so it was a clear choice for our Thanksgiving dinner. The food was good, but all courses were served very fast and we felt rushed. Server lacked the warmth and energy we had hoped for and what we enjoy from the other fine dining options in Santa Fe. Granted it was Thanksgiving, but I don’t think he smiled once. When the bill came, we were charged $9 for bread, which was unexpected. Ive never paid for bread at the other top restaurants in town. Overall, our dining experience was fine at best; it did not live up to all the hype we had heard for so long - maybe it was because it was Thanksgiving?!
Thanksgiving dinner was, in a word, amazing. We both agree that the meal was the very best Thanksgiving dinner we’ve ever had. Every food item was so tasty and with the right texture. Example the Brussels sprouts were yummy and had a bit of snap to them. John’s salmon was prepared to perfection at medium rare and the bisque fantastic.
We have dined at Restaurant Martin only once before and had a great meal then, but this recent experience licks it in. We will return each time we’re in Santa Fe.
Thank you to the entire staff for making our Thanksgiving dinner so wonderful.
Food was just what I wanted on this Thanksgiving Day 2021, service by Gabe was superb. Memorable!
The food and atmosphere was good but our server had an attitude and it impacted our overall experience. We paid A LOT for this meal and actually regret it due to him.
Martin combines the most interesting flavors for your enjoyment. The food is wonderful. And there is always a little delightful flavor that you weren’t expecting but completely delighted you! The service was superb. I always enjoy the great dining experience at Restaurant Martin !
Service is excellent. Hostess friendly and helpful. Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, good suggestions and knew the menu well. Food is always so beautifully presented; they’re like works of art. Dessert is fun. Something different and creative. We love coming here.
Excellent food, excellent service…what’s not to like?
Food was very creative and yet well controlled and coordinated. Most impressive. As a local resident, I consider this one of the most sophisticated restaurants in town.
Fabulous experience…great food and atmosphere… highly recommend
Excellent as always. The chef’s creativity is incredible.
We love the creative food at Restaurant Martin. Everything was exquisitely prepared.
There is no comparison!
The food and service were great. But we found the dining room small, uninteresting, and the tables so close together and so many people squeezed in that it felt claustrophobic…
We love to dine when in Santa Fe but have to say this was not a restaurant we are likely to return to...there are too many others more deserving. We found the atmosphere lacked any real ambiance, subpar art, stodgy clientel, and mediocre staff. The entrees were good but certainly nothing exceptional; the scallop appetizer sounded wonderful but was overly rich with just two tiny scallops for $20. Hard to believe this was a James Beard recipient in 2017. Overall disappointing.
IIf your viewing tastes run more to Chef's Table than Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives then Restaurant Martin will let you experience that type of fine dining on an elevated level. While the ambience of the restaurant is not that of a pretentious setting the food is at a level that rivals the best. The seating is comfortable, the decor a relaxing mix of contemporary art in a southwestern setting and the service is attentive without being obtrusive.
The entrées are what might be described as "solid" food - salmon, beef tenderloin, duck breast, pork chops - but the amazingly creative recipes and excellent preparation makes one wonder how it is that what should be rather familiar tastes could have such subtlety and incredible depth, yet never seem like they are trying to be showy or different just to be different. The flavors unfold with each bite, and the pairings of side dishes always surprise and delight. These are meals to be slowly savored as they reveal the kind of nuance that only a chef possessing both a high level of creativity paired with the ability to perfectly prepare each dish can achieve.
The desserts are not to be skipped, and are wonders in and of themselves. An extensive wine list rounds out the experience and beer and mixed drinks are available as well, ably hand crafted from liquors provided by local distiller Santa Fe Spirits.
Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a meal at Restaurant Martin, I guarantee you will be back.
Arrived at the restaurant on time and seated by a door near the kitchen (there were plenty of other open tables for two). Table was so wobbly, when my husband sat down and looked at the menu, his wine glass and silver ware slid right onto the floor. We asked to be moved to another table - we were moved next door - right by the kitchen again. This restaurant was loud, and while the food was good, the experience was way below my expectations. We won't be going back.
Unbelievable service and meals. The ambiance was a little less than had hope for a special occasion.
Food was excellent
Would definitely go again.
Absolutely superb in every way--food, service, ambience. Everything was perfect! Our new fave info SF.
The restaurant has a cozy ambience & friendly & efficient staff. The food was amazing & proportions just right.
I would definitely return & recommend this French cuisine to anyone. The menu was unique but not far out.
No t as good as my last visit - Would not order what I had (Special) again. Not again for awhile. Much lost to the pandemic!
TLDR: Don't book if you have children and you're not an old.
My husband and I were married here. I requested on a table in the covered patio as we had our toddler with us. I also noted it was my birthday.
A few weeks prior I had visited with my parents and brought my son and it was delightful. This last visit was not. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. Again, we have the tot so we eat early. Pro tip, if you don't like kids, don't go out for dinner at 5 PM. Anyway the hostess brought us to a table in the back right next to the kitchen. It was a very large booth and the seats were uncomfortable. We asked to move to one of the many empty 4 tops nearby. She said we could only sit in a table in another dark corner in the back. At this point I was surprised they didn't seat us in the back ally next to a dumpster.
I should pause here and mention that Restaurant Martin provides highchairs. If a restaurant provides highchairs, I take that to mean well-behaved children are welcome. Sassella does not have any highchairs. Even tho they will say you can bring your own highchair, it's pretty clear they would rather you didn't. That's fine, I get it. I was child-free too for a long time.
Anyway, the table they moved us to had a big wobble. The bread and water person said they would bring a shim but they never did. We had to ask the server. The shim came off halfway through dinner anyway. Imagine paying $45 for a main and having a wobbly table.
Our food was OK. The pork chop was dry and a little tough but the scallops were really nice. They had changed up the menu some from when I was there with my septuagenarian parents and this visit. Why do I bring up my parents age? When I was visiting with my folks, our service was markedly better. And of course at our wedding when we spent tens of thousands of dollars, the service was better. But we didn't have a kid then lol.
Also, not a single mention of my birthday.
Jennifer and her dining room staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We requested to eat outside due to a medical condition and the temperature prevented this. Jennifer went out of her way to seat us in an isolated area. It was my wife's birthday and Martin's is out favorite restaurant. The food was outstanding, and again, the service was stellar.
It was Halloween and the servers were all in costume. What fun. Food was wonderful as was the service. we hadn't been in a year and Martin is still producing delicious meals.
Not a place to go if claustrophobic, very small rooms , one window . The one is closed with a shade
Good food important , this restaurant has that but , the ambiance is the other half in excellent dining experience This place has none.
Great meal in a beautiful relaxing environment. The service was spot on. The wait staff knowledgeable about wines, dessert was excellent. Special was Halibut and it was perfectly cooked.
We had a wonderful experience at Restaurant Martin last night. We were outside on the patio with ample heaters for the hearty diners who wanted to enjoy outside dining as long as possible. Our server, Zach was personable, very efficient, and professional. My husband started with the Caesar Salad which he enjoyed. Then we both had the Scottish Salmon, which was perfectly cooked. The dish had a variety of tastes which complemented each other beautifully. Finally we split an absolutely fabulous molten bittersweet chocolate cake with toasted cinnamon ice cream. This was not our first time here, and we have never been disappointed. There has always been great combinations of tastes and excellent service on a charming patio.
