Never disappointed at Restaurant Martin. Everything is done perfection.
Outstanding dinner celebrating my in-laws 60th wedding anniversary. Our waiter Julian was excellent and the food was so good and fresh. My wife had the steak and I had the salmon and both were cooked perfectly. I was a little concerned reading the descriptions that some menu items would have too much sauce, but no worries here everything was perfectly seasoned, elegant and perfectly prepared. The appetizers and desserts were also excellent. When I come back to Santa Fe, it will be my first dinner choice.
Excellent dinner as always, Abygale provided great service and always a fun experience
I had been hearing that restaurant Martin was good but inconsistent. I tried it for the first time on Valentine’s Day to make it a special evening. I ordered the duck which was still quacking and totally tuff. They were very kind to replace it. I ordered scallops and I hate to say it but mediocre. My boyfriend had the salmon which was also mediocre. $160.00 later I was very disappointed. I always give a second chance so maybe one day when I’m brave and have a fat wallet I’d be willing to try it again. Maybe it was just an off night.
Prepare to be amazed. Restaurant Martin was a feast for my eyes and pallet. It was truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had from plating to flavor combinations. Don’t miss this jewel in Santa Fe in a beautifully restored building, knowledgeable staff and incredibly well prepared meal. Worth every penny.
The food: It was just ok... my steak was so tough, and at least 1\3 was gristly fat. Not a high quality piece of meat for the extremely high price. Sides tasted pre-cooked, over warmed and very disappointing.
The service: not that attentive...meh a bit pretentious.
This was our 36th anniversary celebration and we’re hoping for better. We’ll not be returning.
Some of the most creative and delicious cuisine in Santa Fe. And, at very fair prices. Highly recommended.
Best dinner I've had in Santa Fe. It was over the top and it was a delightful experience.
Food was delicious. Service great until a pretentious person arrived and the server kowtowed to his table and took forever to get us our bill.
Famous chef must have been off the night we visited. Food tasted like it was previously cooked and just warmed up. Disgusting for $$!
One of the best meals, maybe the best, I have had in Santa Fe. The presentation was lovely, staff wonderful, and food outstanding.
This restaurant is exquisite. The food is unbelievable and the space is gorgeous. Highly recommend!
New Year’s Eve dinner was absolutely wonderful in every way!
Amazing restaurant! We are here twice during our vacation to Santa Fe. Both times were great! Knowledgeable and kind staff, delicious food, and great ambiance.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, but we were disappointed with the quality of the meat on one of the entrees. Because of food allergies, one member of the party was unable to eat two of the courses, and the kitchen could not provide alternatives (although they were able to provide an alternative for the dessert course). Perhaps our expectations were too high, but we expected more for a $125 per person prix fixe New Year’s Eve meal from a restaurant we historically have liked and recommended to others.
Every bite was amazing except the lamb. It was truly a memorable evening. We will come again.
Went for an anniversary and birthday dinner with several friends. The food was good. It would have been better if not for the service. The main waiter did a great job. He was attentive and was friendly, however the assistants helping were less than desirable. The lady assistant was rude and actually argued with one of my guests when they were trying to tell her she was serving them the wrong food item. The server's response was that "I was told this is where it goes, so I am putting it here and you can figure it out". Not an attitude you expect coming from a James Beard Chef's kitchen. I would like to say I would return, however it does not matter how good the food is, if the service is lacking, it ruins the total experience. Unless the restaurant wants to give me a second chance, I won't be returning anytime soon. If you read my other reviews, you will see this is a difficult review. I seek out the best of each experience. I hate that poor service ruined this one.
All around awesome!
Everything outstanding. Best food we had in Santa Fe which included other Beard nominated and highly regarded restaurants.
We enjoyed our food, but our table was very cramped and the waiter forgot our soup spoon. I specified it was our anniversary but the staff never mentioned it.
Christmas dinner was a three star experience at 5 star prices. No paper towels in one bathroom so used the other which had no soap. Food was good but at over $300 (included wine and coffee) we did not think it warranted the price.
Christmas Dinner at RM was a disappointment. We were directed to the small bar area to wait for our table which was congested with guests and servers. It appeared that reservations were taken beyond the capacity of the restaurant. We were seated in a room out back from the main dining room with the ambiance of a garage including garage doors, projection screen hanging from
chains, harsh lighting, fake decorations and no linens on the tables. Very over rated dining establishment.
We went on Christmas night for an extremely expensive prix fixe dinner. Reservation needed to be held with a credit card and there would have been a fee to cancel. We were ushered to the bar to wait for our table to be ready. There was no bartender. A waiter said he could not give us drinks and to ask the hostess. The hostess said she was too busy to serve drinks. They knew they were full and should have had a bartender. The hostess’ attitude was that she was doing customers a favor. We waited 20 minutes at the bar with no service. Food was excellent and the waiter went out of his way to help with a nut allergy in our party. When the check came, there was a charge for an appetizer even though it was a prix fixe meal. Glad we caught the restaurant trying to pad the bill. They fixed it when we pointed it out. Not sure if we’d go back, despite the delicious meal.
We had our Christmas dinner at Restaurant Martin and it did. It disappoint. Great environment with fantastic food.
Great than my expectation.
Just fabulous food and service
I've been to Restaurant Martin several times and always been delighted by the chef's creativity and skill, the personable, competent service, and either the cozy warmth of the main dining room or the outdoor pleasures of the patio. This visit, for Christmas dinner with several friends, did not live up to my previous experiences. I was disappointed that we were seated in the "annex" rather than the main dining room. - I'd not seen the annex used before so it didn't occur to me to request main-room seating. While that separate building was nicely decorated for the holiday, it is a big, open, noisy-when-full rectangle with none of the warmth and intimacy of the main room. Plus, our food seemed to have lost too much heat during its transport across an outdoor space between kitchen and annex.
Prix-fixe menu, with several choices of appetizer, entree and dessert. Four of us ordered rack of lamb, which was 2 chops. Only one had two tender, lovely chops -- the other 3 had one lovely chop and one either mostly fat or unpleasantly textured/flavored. Those who ordered the beef were happy with every meaty bite, and the scallops were also praised. All entree plates seemed unbalanced, though -- all meat with a couple spoonfuls of pureed veg, plus thin ribbons of several tasty sauces for which the chef is known. A bit more veg would have been welcome. We all found the desserts underwhelming, again a surprise given my past experience here. I personally enjoyed the lack of opportunity to overeat, but others found the portions of all 3 courses rather small. While our server covered the basics, she didn't seem happy to be there -- I think she may have been ill and had to work anyway on this busy night.
This was an expensive evening, a splurge for most of us for a special holiday treat, and it was disappointing to feel less than fully delighted with the experience. I'll save my visits for non-holidays, when both the kitchen and the waitstaff are likely to be less stressed.
I have never been disappointed. Great food and great service.
Great Christmas Day lunch!
We went for lunch Xmas Day. It was a prix fixe menu for $95 per person. Too expensive. Food was good not fabulous .
Delicious and professionally prepared food with exceptional service. Presentation is wonderful and deserving of James Beard Award.
We have been to Restaurant Martin many times when we travel to Santa Fe. We booked Christmas Eve dinner there and were told in advance it was a prix fixe menu at $95 per person. This seemed steep but is WAS Christmas Eve after all. Our 7:30 reservation was apparently late, as many of the customers were clearing out. Our waiter was pleasant and solicitous but would disappear for stretches at a time. It took about 15 minutes of waiting to get our drink orders taken. The food was very good, but not staggering. The service was slow. Normally I would not complain about a meal that was very good. However, our final bill with tax, drinks and 20% tip included came to $300 a couple. For this kind of money I expect to have my socks knocked off. This was NOT it. We will go elsewhere next Christmas.
Restaurant Martin never disappoints. We've been a patron for 6 years. The 3 course Christmas dinner was fantastic-each course was imaginative and delicious.
Over priced and steaks off my grill are much better
Everything was fabulous! Phenomenal food and wine! Loved it. Can't wait to go back in the summer and sit on the patio.
Visited Restaurant Martin on Christmas. Despite being very busy, service was friendly and timely. While menu was set, there were ample choices for each course. The corn bisque was wonderful and the duck was excellent. Our entire family enjoyed the meal.
We had a gorgeous Christmas Eve Dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great. One of my favorite restaurants in Santa Fe. Glad we chose it for Christmas eve.
It met and possibly exceeded our expectations. Our son is a critical foodie and he was very happy with his meal as were we. Service was exceptional.
Where can you take your family that includes a vegan and one with multiple food allergies and still enjoy a wonderful experience? Restaurant Martin!!
Martin and Jennifer Rios and the entire staff provide an excellent fine dining experience in a romantic and cozy atmosphere. It is hard to say enough good things. This visit was one of several and is consist and to be enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike.
