We felt like this restaurant was exceptional in almost every category. Our waiter, Zac, was slammed and managed to time the delivery of everything perfectly. We shall return.
Food was delish! We ordered duck and beef tenderloin. Both were cooked to perfection! To top off night had chocolate molten cake. Was the best desert we have had. Service was excellent. Highly recommend!
We had a marvelous time and unforgettable dinner at Rest. Martin. Dinner and dessert were truly sublime. We shared starters and entrees. The vegetarian entrée was the best I have ever had (from a variety, quality, presentation, and taste perspective).
We chose to sit outside though it was quite nippy - Jennifer (the owner) was fabulous in keeping us warm. The patio was perfect, ambiance wonderful, music fabulous. Small touches (lap blankets to the tea kettle to the spatula for dessert) were unique and noteworthy. Celeste was our server and she nailed it. We were even able to meet and thank Chef Martin. Cannot wait to revisit - again and again. Bravo Rest Martin!!
Great As Always!!
Great service and delicious food. Presentation was beautiful. Don’t forget to try the ginger margarita! Best value in the house.
Fantastic meal with my father, brother, and daughter! Food and service were wonderful. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely fabulous from start to finish!
Limited menu although the special (tuna) was excellent. Wine was ridiculously overpriced and the pacing was terrible, we were rushed, the food arrived before we had finished our aperitif. Going there was an expensive mistake.
First post-pandemic trip for group of seven Oklahomans, Michiganders, and Texans. And our fourth or fifth time at Martin over the years. We were seated in a semi-outdoors, covered area, prompt service, full staff, all foody things back to normal. I had the coffee roasted beet salad, which was excellent and unusual. My entree (duck breast) was a little ligamented, (Two others said the same,) but well prepared and delicious. Friendly, knowledgeable service. Good wine list.
Creative dishes are severely marred in the execution, mainly due to overcooking: pork chops completely white, "rare" tune with a quarter-inch rind of grey, lamb not at all pink, etc. "Indoor" dining is in a barn-like structure with one side completely open. Noisy, no tablecloths, horrid music. Fine dining it is not.
Our dinners were very good but the Cote de Rhone wine by the glass and bottle was disappointing.
Wonderful foodie experience. Great service.
Duck , chicken and steak were all terrific. Presentation lovely. Good wine list. Only disappointments were the ice cream. Just ok and very small portion
We had a lovely time dining Chez Martin. Food is beautifully executed. I particularly enjoyed the oysters delicately tempura-fried and my pork chop was perfectly cooked
Wonderful menu and service. Ambiance not quite up to the price point. Also no cocktails service- only wine and beer.
The food was incredible! A lot of depth and imagination in the cooking.
Restaurant Martin was superb. Great food and service. I highly recommend the duck breast if it's available, and the molten chocolate cake was much better than the cliché that dessert has become in many places. It's not inexpensive, but for a special occasion, it would be worth it. We were out of towners, but if we were local we'd be back.
We loved our first visit to Restaurant Martin. We weee drawn there because of the pork belly bite we had at the Wine and Chili festival as well as friends’ recommendations. The food was delicious and service wonderful.
Food pretty good, but kind of an odd beginning… chilly evening, mostly patio seating. We arrived 12 min early for our reservation, tables open, but the hostess said she did not want to overburden the kitchen so we could either walk around the block,or go to the brewpub next door! why not seat us and offer a drink?
Food was good, steak was perfectly medium rare but charred on outside. Same with duck breast. Dessert was excellent.
Not sure we’ll try again.
Fantastic food and wine experience. Great combos of flavors .. intriguing and unique , but without trying too hard . Dessert was a mind blowing chocolate -o-rama ..festival of Yom nom nom!
Love it. Will be back.
Beet salad was delicious (highly recommend). Beef tenderloin was ordered medium rare but served medium well (disappointing). Ahi tuna and dessert was good.
Wait staff was friendly but inattentive. No one checked on us throughout our meal except to get our dessert order. Patio dining furniture was wobbling and table setting was a plastic place mat.
Service, which has been an issue in other recent reviews, was excellent. Food was ok but not great - Salads were fine if not exceptional. Duck was tasty but the breast was very tough - the leg confit was great. The vegetarian entree sampler was uneven. The potato Napoleon was good. Others less so. In particular the use of barbecue sauce on cauliflower isn’t appealing since it made it taste like meat. Dessert choices limited. We wouldn’t object to going back if friends wanted to go there but wouldn’t make it our first choice for an interesting dinner.
It’s always a pleasure to eat at Restaurant Martin. I have commemorated a number of occasions there.
We had a great dinner with friends on the patio. So good, we closed the place down with a 1930 reservation. Everyone was very pleased with the food and ambiance, and the service was attentive. We ate at 3 of Santa Fe's top restaurants while we were in town and this one ranks right up there.
Have eaten here many times. The food Is consistently excellent. The service even with the Covid impact is excellent. We had a corner table on the patio which was a very nice location for our quiet celebration of a friend's BD. Will continue to eat here at least once Everytime we are in Santa Fe
Very disappointing! I have had lovely meals at Restaurant Martin before, but from the apathetic, uninformed service to the mediocre, poorly prepared food, this one was a let down. I hope they're able to pull it together again in the future.
Recommended by our bed and breakfast hosts. What an amazing meal! Such different combinations of flavors anc textures. Waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. Very good wine list. Will come back next time we’re in Santa Fe.
We had such a great dinner. The food was to die for and the service was great too.
Our server was very good. Always attentive.
Was disappointed in the vegetarian option since there was only one to choose from. The duck was great. The presentation was beautiful.
Great food, wine and service. Couldn’t have been better!
Good took a long time! Facility appeared dated and wasn’t as nice as expected. Wait staff was good.
We have been to Restaurant Martín several times. It is always a very pleasant experience in terms of both food and ambiance. He is trying to do interesting food prepared by someone who cares, and he succeeds. This is not always the case at “fine restaurants” in Santa Fe and elsewhere.
Great food. Unfortunately, the ambience and repast were dimmed by the smell of sewage around our table. We saw a large candle with three wicks on the ground by the table so the management is most likely aware of the problem and have tried to mitigate the sewage smell with the candle smell.
Really great meal. Lovely environment. Lots of outdoor dining.
We really enjoyed the food, flavors and service. For a high end restaurant with pretty steep prices we were disappointed that there was a $3/person charge for a couple of slices of bread! Otherwise delightful.
We'd read terrific reviews about the restaurant, but seen a few mediocre ones from other diners' recent visits that claimed things had changed and quality had apparently slipped.
The outdoor eating area where we were seated was beautiful (particularly at night) and the ambiance felt fairly intimate and quiet. The menu options also looked interesting and creative, and our group (who travels together to different locations across the country to taste wine and enjoy great meals) was excited.
Unfortunately, beginning with the first course, service was lackluster. From eye rolls (!) when asking for a fork when the last one had been taken with the last course, to lacksidasical serving and long stretches of no interaction with our server, to the final straw when the bill was unceremoniously tossed on our table with a curt "thanks," we were taken aback with how the staff seemed to be trained (or not).
We tend to be a rather casual bunch but have had a great deal of experience with restaurants of this caliber, so we know what's appropriate to expect. A $500+ meal should not end with an unfriendly tossing of the checks, particularly when there was no issue that would have caused the server to be upset.
The meal itself was also unfortunately uneven. While the appetizers showed great promise, we were let down with the entrees. These included a very underseasoned Sea Bass special with some inedible woody stalks of leek (I believe) that should never have made it to the plate. The pork chops looked great but were dry and riddled with gristle. The deserts did shine though, with lovely homemade sorbets and a delightful molten chocolate cake.
The verdict: This is a place that perhaps once shone but has now lost its luster, and for this price point, we'd recommend visiting elsewhere.
Wonderful vegetarian tasking menu with creative combinations and flavors Beautiful courtyard and attentive service. A lovely experience.
Beautiful setting and attentive service and every bite was delicious. So many flavors
For a special occasion anniversary dinner, Restaurant Martin matched the best experience at other top restaurants. Our event was recognized from first greeting throughout, quiet outdoor patio seating, excellent service - and of course, top notch cuisine.
Excellent in every respect! Had a wonderful memorable dinner for 60th bday with sisters. Thank you!
