Caesar salad was bland. Breast of chicken dish was awful. Salmon was very tasty and well-plated. Chocolate desert disappointing. Some good values on wine list.
This was our second experience at the restaurant. The food no service are excellent. I consider the restaurant one of the best in my life experience. The desserts are amazing in addition to the entrees.
This was our first time for brunch. The brunch menu is limited. The patio area is a great setting and the server was very friendly. The brunch menu has creative dishes but some of the favorites from the lunch menu are not included. We were celebrating our anniversary. The French toast was amazing.
Excellent food and experience. Loved sitting in the annex with the overhead doors open to a gentle rain.
Restaurant Martin came very highly recommended to us so maybe our expectations were just too high . The atmosphere is nice in the outdoor seating area. The waitstaff was every attentive except for our waiter who seems not the least but interested in us . The appetizers had lovely presentations and were the best part of our meal . When the main course came we were totally disappointed. I had the organic chicken that was very dry, the mashed potatoes and vegetables cold . Our other entree was the duck and that was a diss disappointment as well. Also, there were no chef selections on the menu that evening. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We have eaten at a lot of Santa Fe restaurants and Restaurant Martin was the best. We had a great time and the service was wonderful. Go there!
Tried this during SF restaurant week due to Martin's repeated James Beard best chef nominations and loved it. Came back for my birthday and they did not disappoint even though there were super busy. Sat outside on the patio; really enjoyed ambiance, food, plating, wine, and service. Will be back again soon!
Beautiful June evening so we sat on the patio which was very pleasant and quiet. We shared the Tartare of Yellow Fin Tuna appetizer which was truly amazing. My wife had the Pan Seared Salmon while I had the chef’s creation of the day which was a variety of sea bass. Both dishes were perfectly seasoned with close attention paid to all the details. We shared a side of the polenta which was also amazing. We shared the Molten Bittersweet Chocolate Cake which was a great way to end a delightful night.
It was certainly a great value.
We are looking forward to having lunch and brunch there. Will definitely be back for dinner.
Enters, fish and beef were not cocked to the desired doneness.
A friend and I ordered the asparagus appetizer, the salmon entree, and a side dish of polenta. Everything was fresh and well-prepared. Chef Martin was not there the evening we went, but his capable staff served us attentively and the food was beautiful.
Expecting more choices and excitement. . . . .both lacking-- premium pricing for Santa Fe and just didn't what we expected to be the best in town. Nothing wrong with food or service. .just not that buzz or excitement to accompany a special dining experience.
Knowing that the chef had been a James Beard finalist, we expected great things and were not disappointed. We had a lovely dinner on the patio. I had the duck breast with duck sausage and my husband had the beef tenderloin. The presentation of both dishes was beautiful and the meat was delicious, tender and cooked to perfection. We had a side of truffle orzo mac and cheese that was amazing and the decadent molten chocolate cake with cinnamon ice cream was to die for. Recommend this restaurant to all foodies and will definitely return on our next visit to Santa Fe. Currently the best restaurnat in Santa Fe!
Be aware the restaurant only serves beer and wine, no spirits.
The brunch was just average The crab cakes did not have any discernible crab and the eggs benedict plate was lukewarm and ordinary. Nice ambiance and service.
We had a wonderful evening at Restaurant Martin. The wine list is accessible but high quality. The food was excellent, and the service was professional and attentive. The outdoor patio in the summer is one of the nicest settings in Santa Fe.
What an outstanding restaurant! From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated royally. The food was outstanding, the server was very knowledgeable and made wonderful wine recommendations for each course. The appetizer, tuna tartare, was unlike any tuna tartare I have ever had. Flavorful, beautifully presented, with an original combination of flavors and textures. They beef tenderloin entrée really did not need a knife. The meet was so incredibly tender and wonderfully flavorful. The cake made of beef cheeks and horseradish was the perfect complement to the beef. The only thing that required a knife was the grilled green onions underneath day Patti. What a phenomenal meal!
Disappointing. We went there for dinner on my husband’s birthday. I had the fish special, which was good. My husband had the chicken, which was not. The chicken was bland, as were all the veggies — even the potato purée. Presentation seems to be the primary goal here, and the dishes looked beautiful. But at those prices, and with this restaurant’s reputation, I expected a lot more.
Wonderful food and service that was beautifully prepared. Outdoor seating was lovely and the service spot on. I’ll be back.
Went for our anniversary and were pleased with our choice. Very creative with well developed flavors and service was impeccable. Good wine selection.
Would have earned five stars, except my filet was over cooked. I don’t mean burned, but medium rather than medium rare.
One of the best meals in a long time. The chef won the 3018 James beard chef of the year award
Love the patio at Restaurant Martin. Very quiet this past Sunday, which was nice! I always enjoy their food, but I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the crab cakes, which were deep fried and quite small. My husband has a very limited diet right now, and there were very few things he could eat. What he did order came out incorrectly so his order had to be redone, which meant we were not all eating at the same time. They should have comped his meal as it was their fault. It was a simple omelette, they had an omelette on the menu so it wasn’t as if they had to create a new dish for him.
Fabulous evening as always. Spectacular service for special birthday. Love the patio setting.
Duck breast, pork belly appetizer, Caesar salad and grouper from Sea of Cortez .
We love the food from this inspired chef.
Every dish / dessert was exquisitely presented . Service was good . Attentive staff .
Shall return for sure
We eat here every time we go to Santa Fe and that is at least twice a year. This time, for the first time, we were disappointed in the food. It was tasty and well-cooked but lacked the quality it had when we first went there five years ago or more. The chef needs to change the menu more. It had a safe but boring feeling this time. We ate more exciting and exceptional meals at three other restaurants in Santa Fe this year. We will go back next trip but I want more excitement from this talented chef. He seemed to be phoning it in this year. Maybe he is disappointed he did not win the James Beard award again this year for the 8th or 9th time. He is going to have to step it up to win that award, we feel. Keep creating food with more gusto Chef Martin!
6 of us spontaneously went to dinner at Martin's. It was a beautiful night and we wanted to sit outside and have a drink and some food. We could not have picked a better place. The evening was beautiful. Some of us wanted a real meal and some of us just wanted to share some appetizers. We all got what we wanted and we were all very happy. We shall return.
We went for dinner and as hoped, found the food interesting, creative and delicious. The service was simply outstanding, In fact, many members of the staff made us feel at home while being totally unobtrusive. We enjoyed the service and food so much that we went back the next night.
Great food, elegantly presented and nice specials. Dined on the outside patio which was lovely.
I love Restaurant Martin. The Angus beef sandwich that I ordered was delicious. My friend had an omelet and she said it was very good except all the delicious caramelized onions were at one end of the omelet. She had wished the onions had been spread throughout the omelet.
We stood at the host stand for nearly 10 minutes before anyone even offered to seat us. Our server, while very nice, was obviously handling too many tables. They were out of the wine we ordered. While the Restaurant wasn’t full, we were offered a table with a view to the bus stand and restrooms. Our entrees took another 20 minutes after we finished our salad.....Don’t think we’ll be going back.
Really lovely outdoor patio, and food was very good
Unwelcoming attitude from everyone but host. Sea bass very good but one was delivered undercooked and a bit of an attitude about asking to have the piece of fish cooked Confusion bill related to service charge + gratuity which was listed twice but not added twice. Not completely accommodating food allergy forcing customer to only have one option.
Martin has the best food in town. Always innovative and changes often. The portions argue for having only 1 course because they are quite large. For lunch 1 course is all most of us can do. However, his appetizers are so spectacular that room must be made at dinner.
The service ranges from OK to not-so-OK. That is surprising because this restaurant has a reputation for good relations with its servers. At lunch recently, the wine appeared only after I asked whether I had remembered to order it.
Our party had the beef short-rib sandwich, salmon ceasar salad and pork-belly enchilada. All excellent but the enchilada, in particular, showcased Martin's ability to take a local staple and make it sing.
The wine list is good but, as in all Santa Fe restaurants, the lack of corkage fees makes the prices unreasonable. If you search the list you can, barely, find a couple of wines that are only 2.5 times retail. Most range from 3.5 to 4.2. An outrage but no worse than any place in Santa Fe.
Expected better from a James Beard finalist. His dinners are better than his lunches. Mediocre food at lunch. 2 cups of soup, one salad, one sandwich - about $70 with tip - oh, yes- also two iced teas. Probably last time.
Our dinner was great. The dishes were vibrant with many flavor profiles. The wine selection was good and Julian, our server, was fantastic. He knew all the components of the dishes and was incredibly polite.
Service very slow. Outside patio lovely. None of us felt the entrees were wonderful as we had been led to expect.
A great find on this trip to Santa Fe! Creative menu and excellent service. Quality high.
Excellent food and good taste profiles. Worth the price for a special meal.
EXCELLENT FOOD IN SANTA FE, A BIT OFF THE BEATEN TRACK BUT LOVELY PLEIN AIR DINING, AND ATTENTIVE STAFF. MOST IMPORTANT, THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS. OUTSTANDING. AND NOT OVERPRICED FOR THEFABULOUS PRESENTATION ANDFLAVORS. JUST DELICIOUS. WORTH THE WAIT.
