Restaurant Lorena's Ratings and Reviews
Everything was wonderful from appetizer to dessert. We don’t think we would have been disappointed with any food choice gauging by the responses of diners around us. Service was excellent. Our only small criticism was that the table for 2 was a little small. We will certainly return to explore other seasonal menus.
5 stars! We totally enjoyed this special date night meal and ambiance. The top restaurant reviews met our expectations. The menu was amazing and we always love BYO places, so we brought a favorite cab. We will certainly be back for another special occasion. We enjoyed the oyster starters and shared the handmade carbonara pasta dish and crepe with crab meat and mushrooms. Then we ordered the fish special and duo braised meat and filet. It was delicious! Now we'll have to start with dessert next time first! It's in our top 10!
Lorena's is a spectacular restaurant where you get what you pay for. Quality, comfort, and accommodating service are far from lacking at this gem! Bring your favorite bottle of wine (since it is byob) or grab one at the conveniently located wine shop across the street and enjoy the eating experience that is LORENA'S!
One of the five oysters served was bad. The burratta appetizer was ridiculously small. The "carbonara" appetizer, while beautifully prepared and presented- was completely bland and tasteless. Main of Quail was completely unenjoyable. Rack of Lamb was very good. Overall- overrated
This was my husband's and my third time eating at Lorena's and we were a bit disappointed with the summer menu and service we received. When we arrived we were given a tight table very close to the front door. Terrible table IMO. We moved two more times before we found a table that offered us
It was my our first wedding anniversary too which the restaurant knew about when I made the reservation and our waiter did nothing to make the occasion or our presence feel special. It wasn't until dessert did he acknowledge it when he put down before us a complimentary panna cotta with a measly candle. He didn't even congratulate us. Guess if we were a straight couple he would have made more of a fuss. Waiter was a nice enough fellow but his low energy toward us really put a damper on the specialness of the evening. He just seemed to be an order taker and not much more although he did fill our champagne glasses regularly. If I didn't know better I would have thought he regarded us as 2 men having a business dinner.
The menu entree selections were rather mundane. Prices seemed awfully high in relation to portion size and quality. Nothing on the menu screamed, "Order me!" It took us a while to land on a selection. I ordered the salmon tartare as an appetizer; I've had better at lesser restaurants. For the entree I went with the Mediterranean Meagre. A light white fish, it was very good but nothing exceptional. My husband ordered the mushroom and crab crepe as his appetizer and salmon as an entree. He enjoyed them both.
I hope the next time we dine at Lorenas the service will be better than what we recently experienced and the menu will be more enticing.
Lorena's was wonderful, as usual. Celebrated wife's birthday. Place is BYOB, which helps control prices a little (they are high). They whisk your wine and carrier away, and put out just the right glasses for whatever you brought. Carrier re-appears as you leave. Food was awesome. A cut above all except Michelin starred restaurants. Every dish rates among the best of its type you've ever had. Order what you think you might like, and you will! We had crab and mushroom crepe, very special pasta with a great and different pesto, quail, and rack of lamb. Portion sizes for entrees were large. Service is highly skilled and smooth, with perhaps a little too much time between courses.
We were recommended to Lorena's by friends who have been many times. We are very glad that they turned us on to it. The food was super delicious. I had the Crab and Mushroom Crepe to start and my husband had the Salmon Tartar. His was very good but mine was amazing! I then had Lamb Chops for the main course which were delicious, tender and perfectly cooked. My husband had a fish special and really enjoyed it. The Creme Brûlée was fabulous and they brought us Pannacotta because it was our anniversary. Service was attentive but I wouldn't say friendly. Over all I highly recommend it!
Overall it was a very good experience. The menu is limited, however there were enough entrees to choose from. The young gentleman responsible for filling our water glasses and bringing bread to the table did an outstanding job.
We were seated near the restrooms which was a bit disconcerting having requested a table that was private.
Everything was delicious, not extraordinary.
Our waiter's initial hovering presence resulted in our hurrying to order although our table never turned. Service is attentive. Menu is limited and entrees are rather high priced but it is BYO. Preparation and presentation were good although there were no stand out flavors..e.g. the quail dish was generously portioned, quail nicely cooked but I couldn't appreciate the sauce.
Fish dishes were enjoyed. Amuses were silly...a 1 oz shot glass of gazpacho and a similar shot glass of very sweet berry juice. The mushroom-crab crepe is excellent. The caramelized banana dessert was great. !
I'll start out by saying both my husband and I are big foodies and have dined at many Michelin star restaurants throughout the world. We haven't been back to this restaurant in a while. Now we remembered why. The new renovation and expansion of the restaurant was very nice. There is street parking and it's byob. I had the crab and mushroom crepe. It was very good and for $21 it better be. My husband had the cavatelli and wasn't sure about ordering it because it came with a poached egg. The waiter talked him in to it. He loves eggs but just not over his food. It was good but the egg part wasn't my husbands favorite. For dinner I ordered the rack of lamb medium rare. It was $48 for two double chops and the portion size was plenty for me. However, it was so very rare I probably should have sent it back, it was blue in the middle. There is no excuse for that in my opinion. My husband had the fish and he said it was good but not great. We shared the bread pudding and it was good. We basically left thinking we should have gone to the Bernard's Inn for those prices. We don't think we will be back anytime soon. Very limited menu selections.
Continues to deserve the high rankings; it is more than just the food, which is fresh and interesting as always - we had the most delicious Fanny Bay oysters and a lovely salmon with summer vegetables - but the level of service is simply outstanding.
We brought our friends to try Lorena's for the first time and they loved the experience. The Service is attentive and thoughtful, food is portioned adequately, seasoned well and nicely presented. The menu, which is not extensive, changes seasonally so there is a an opportunity to experience different preparations of fish, meat and fowl. Lorena's is a BYO so select a favorite wine and enjoy a splendid meal with family and friends.
