Food was delicious. Very quiet place, cook was really competent ou meal was prepared à our table done at our whish.
No doubt i will return in a short terme.
Excellent restaurant, very well located in the heart of Old Québec, near the Château Frontenac. This place has been in business for many years and from my experience, including my most recent visit , has consistently maintained a very quality level, in both food and service. Their signature dish is the "Filet mignon en boite", cooked right by you table. The food is quite pricey, but the quality is there so it remains a good value proposition.
Service the way it used to be.... class all the way. Want to feel special.... Continental is the way to go.... expensive, but McDonalds won't make you feel special.
This was and is intended to be a dining experience. Meals are prepared table-side by a skilled and experienced chef-waiter. Ambiance is formal, decor is upscale, and casual attire is acceptable......or jacket and tie if you prefer. The wine list is extensive with a low to high price points.
Our waiter-chef was a maestro with flambe preparation of entries and deserts - managing three tables with ease and making each table feel a personal touch throughout the 2 1/2 hour experience. It was fun!
one of the worst restaurant i went. quality price very very poor. food not good. quality of food very very poor. pretentious server and atmosphere. inadequate comments from server. not even a happy birthday wish nor cake or drink from my wife's birthday
We enjoyed the escargot, caesar salad....made at the table, and shared the rack of lamb. I'm not sure how 1 person could have finished the lamb alone, as it included 6 chops.
Service was very professional.
Exceptional evening all round. Fantastic specialized service. A great experience having your steak cooked at your table. Sebastian our main waiter/chef excelled at explaining the process of copper pot cooking with French sauces to make definitely one of the best steaks ever. Incredible wine list. Dessert to die for.
Formidable scotch menu.
Very traditional, specializing in flambe dishes cooked at your table. Service was very attentive and friendly without being intrusive. This is very much a restaurant for romance and special occasions. I would not bring a 1st date or business associate unless I wanted to send the message that I'm filthy rich and old fashioned.
We very much enjoyed our dinner.
We have dined at Le Continental on a number of occasions - every time it has been wonderful. On this trip, my wife's birthday, we were joined by friends from Dallas who had heard our praises of Le Continental. We were not disappointed. It was an exceptional evening from start to finish. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the extensive wine list and talented in table-side preparation of Caesar salad and flambé filet mignon. The beef was exquisite as was the halibut. I cannot say enough nice things about our evening at Le Continental. See you next January 2 for another birthday dinner.
We loved this restaurant! There is a large range of dishes available. My husband had the shrimp neuberg, which he thought was delicious and I had the sirloin with the mustard sauce. Both were cooked table side by our waiter, Matthew who was very accommodating, answering all our questions and made the experience that much more enjoyable. This is a great place to take your time to eat, and the atmosphere is outstanding and fun at the same time. The food was delicious and it was nice that the steak other dishes were accompanied by a side of vegetables and that everything was not ala carte. They did have sides available also, such as creamed spinach and asparagus with hollandaise sauce. My husband loved the onion soup, and I had the carrot soup which was also very good. The second time we had the lobster bisque which was not heavy and "sauce like" with too much heavy cream. We liked it so much the first time, that we came back again, which is something that we never normally never do and had the chateau briand. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection, the mushroom sauce was perfectly seasoned and did not overpower the meat. The wine menu had many different types of wines, in different price ranges, accommodating many tastes and price points. Both times a lovely meal. Very old school french with tableside cooking. The sugar pie dessert was just so delicious. Sweet, a little bit of crunch, just perfect. They also have some tableside made coffee drinks that looked delicious and was ordered twice by the table next to us. Everyone in the restaurant was having a great time, and the atmosphere was very jovial. The service was great and they do a great job of all of the little things that count, like refilling the water glasses, replacing the silver with each dish, not being intrusive and it was great fun to watch the others patrons having their dishes made as well.
They still cook meats well but no consideration to dietary restrictions and they serve them with cafeteria style pre plated (looks like days ago) mashed potatos and green beans wrapped in soggy bacon. I don't eat pork, no one asked. No one cares. When I addressed this to the manager and the bacon on my plate, he said "oh you don't eat pork, good for you" and moved on.
The seared foie gras appetizer special was 40$, cold and served with soggy toast. What a shame and a waste of over 400$ for dinner for two.
Great Experience! Food was Terrific! Matthew did a GREAT JOB!
Traditional "old school" French dining experience - Chateaubriand, mushroom sauce, vegetable medley, diced potatoes - all well prepared and very delicious. However, the waiter was snarky and his pacing of meal was poor. While sipping our pre-dinner cocktails, the salad arrived along with the bottle of wine we ordered for our meal. No time to enjoy each course. The entire meal was very rushed.
Over rated . Our waiter was a bit unfriendly . For the money that we paid the experience was poor and unpleasant.
We went here over the Christmas holidays while we were on vacation in Quebec City. We were a little hesitant to come here because of the prices, but after our meal there were no regrets whatsoever.
We started with the French onion soup and the scallops and shrimp appetizers. The scallop was cooked to perfection and the broth was superb. The soup had a generous portion of cheese and a very tasty broth.
We then had the filet minion and the catch of the day. The filet was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The gravy on it was also delicious.
We finished with the cherry jubilee dessert. It was good but it was not my personal favourite. Nothing wrong with the dish, but I apparently do not care for brandy.
The service here was exceptional! The waiters are all very attentive and are very willing to answer all of your questions.
If you can afford to eat here then it is an absolute necessity!
Excellent. Superb service. When in Quebec City you must dine here. My friend said the table side cooking of her filet mignon was best & my Dover Sole was delectable. Dessert divine. Beautiful elegant & we NYC girls hard to impress. Far bette than overrated Chez Boulay which was mediocre. Le Continental was best restaurant in QC & service sublime as well as courteous. Formidable 🍽
Excellent. We had 3 dinners in QC, & Le Continental was easily the best. Champlain at Chateau Frontenac offers a more beautiful setting, but it doesn’t compare to Le Continental on food or service.
Absolutely phenomenal, I’ve travelled quite a bit and eaten in a fair few upscale restaurants. Le Continental is by far the best meal and dining experience I’ve had thus far. The food exquisite, the service impeccable, the ambience is that of a lost era where dining was an experience unto itself. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Seating was a little more cramped than I would like. They put soda water in my old fashioned, which is a faux pas! Otherwise, very enjoyable. We will be back.
Not very fashionable, but the food is good. Kind of homey even. Tried the snails with shells and veal with foie grad, the foie gras is heaven!
Amazing food and incredible service. Definitely recommend
Pricy but really worth it. Food is outstanding and comes with an excellent service.
C’est vraiment le meilleur endroit pour apprécier un excellent repas! Je ne connais aucun autre endroit qui fasse des flambées!
In a word, FABULOUS! The service and food was exceptional! Would highly recommend to couples or small parties of adults.
It was a great experience and the food quality is even better than what we expected.
Very good service, but the food is nothing special. We ordered shrimp cocktail, French onion soup, and a salad to start, and we got salmon, flambé shrimp, and filet mignon for dinner. I never mind spending on a great meal, but nothing stood out here - the soup was good; the wine was probably the best thing on the menu, but not worth going for the wine.
