The Restaurant at Gideon Ridge Ratings and Reviews
Found this on Open Table and it sure was a gem!! All the reviews were right --- quaint, small restaurant with unbelievable food. Great service from the servers and the chef visited our table several times to explain how food was prepared and after we received it. Great little Inn that is very old and warm. It is a real find. Menu is specific and has around 10 appetizers, 3 salads and 5-6 entrees. We sampled several main courses and a couple of different salads and appetizers. All were excellent, but the lamb chops were incredible. I had the pork tenderloin and that was awesome too. I'll find an excuse to go to Blowing Rock to eat at this place again!!!
Classy place. Somewhat pricey as portions are rather small and you will likely need an app and or salad. The tuna was excellent. Hunter the chef is great and comes out checking on guests. Deserts are very small and next visit I'll skip that. A great place for a special quiet evening. Beautifully decorated. The entrees are wonderful.
What an amazing place! The restaurant is part of a bed and breakfast (which itself is amazing). It's small, quaint and cozy -- maybe 10 tables although in nice weather they do have patio seating. The view of the mountains is breath-taking. The staff was very attentive, and even the chef came out to check on us. What really stands out about this place is the food. Even though we were staying at the inn, we were hesitant to eat at the restaurant because the menu just didn't sound that good. We're so glad we gave it a chance. It was probably the best meal each of us have ever had. We started with the artisan cheese plate, which had some fantastic pickled vegetables included -- and we don't even like pickled vegetables). I had the pork loin with farro risotto, roasted squash, carrots, and green beans with a bourbon maple glaze -- tender, flavorful, and a beautiful presentation. My wife (vegetarian) had the basil tomato soup and brussel sprout salad with pickled onions (those pickled veggies again) and balsamic reduction. She liked it so much she wanted to order it again! We split a dessert that was great too. Earlier in the afternoon we had also enjoyed some wine on the outside deck. (They have an afternoon tea with some on-site made baked goods. We timed our wine to take advantage of those baked goods.) Overall - great place. Great food. Great service. We'll be back!
A beautiful space, with an elegant yet comfortable feel. The views are incredible. Service was attentive but not intrusive. And the meal was amazing. Pumpkin farro risotto with pork tenderloin was stunningly flavorful. Roasted duck with goat cheese polenta and onion braised kale was equally delicious. We were not bowled over by the dessert (chocolate torte), but honestly, it would be tough to have impressed us more than the entrees. We visit the area often and will be adding this to our “must go” list for all future trips.
The restaurant did not disappoint. We go to Blowing Rock frequently and had never tried Gideon Ridge but had read the great reviews. So we decided to give it a try. Outstanding!! The food was "melt in your mouth" delicious, service was wonderful, and the view is breathtaking. We will return again soon.
an outstanding dining experience! spectacular view of surrounding mtns. Food very good---sauces great!!! We were not rushed through our meal but were given time to enjoy the food and each other's company. Would recommend Gideon Ridge to anyone. We were treated like royalty from our arrival to our departure. You won't regret making this your dining choice, especially if the weather is good and you can sit outside prior to and for your actual meal.
A hidden gem: Gideon's Ridge Restaurant
Small, charming atmosphere. If you can dine outside--do it! A most fabulous view.
Menu is divided into First, Second and Third courses. You can order any one thing (or more!) from each or one of the categories.
Great wine list: good value and good wine, too. Service is fabulous; you are never left waiting to order, to ask for something or have your water glass replenished. The chef came out twice to our table. He was gracious and happy with our response to his dishes. Presentation of each dish was lovely. NOT a "stuffy" place.
As always Gideon Ridge Inn's restaurant did not disappoint! We brought friends who had not been there before, and they were very impressed, planning to bring their adult children along in the future. While it is a bit of a drive from Banner Elk, it was definitely worth it.
Gideon Ridge was absolutely phenomenal. From the inn itself to dinner, Gideon Ridge was hands down the highlight of our trip to Blowing Rock. The inn is quaint and comfortable, with a charming quality. Dinner was exquisite and one of the best meals I have ever had. The ambiance, the staff, and the chef himself are incredible. You must go if you ever find yourself in Blowing Rock.
Never disappointing. Outstanding service & Food. The portions are a bit small, however the quality is very high. Tucked away on a Mountain top Ridge near Blowing Rock, with great views and some trails to explore. Best place for fine outdoor dining in the High Country Awesome Place.
Do not recommend for Children.
