Excellent high-end dining experience. The Chef tasting and and wine pairing was a pretty penny but overall delicious and fun journey. They also have and excellent selection of expensive whiskeys if that's your fancy.
One of the highlights of the night was the cocktail menu. I had a flip which Ive never seen on any other Atlanta menu. If you have been to Scotland, then this lives up to it.
Gorgeous tasting menu and evening. Each course was delightful and you cannot make a bad choice for your meal!
I recommend the wine pairings!
The food has always been extraordinary both in taste and presentation. The service has now caught up and is equal to the magnificent food presented. We started our anniversary evening at the bar with a delightful mixologist and our drinks were excellent. We have been going to this restaurant for 15 years since it opened and it is now in our opinion the very best in dining in Atlanta.
It was very disappointing visit . Our primary server couldn’t hide his disdain at our ordering a la cart vs his recommendation of the tasting menu. He interrupted our drink order as he felt it too complicated and pulled some else in. One in our party had dined there before and said her experience was good. And the secondary servers were nice and attentive. Maybe he was having an off night. The food was so so, for the price. Snapper dish was over cooked and my salad way too salty. It was a surprisingly uncomfortable dining experience for our group
One of the best restaurants in Atlanta, arguably THE best.
Great service. Ivan did a great job making it a special anniversary meal for us.
I love restaurant Eugene! Great food and wonderful service. Thanks!
Phenomenal! The food, drinks and experience were top notch. Perfect spot for an anniversary celebration.
Birthday dinner for my husband
This was not the Experience we were expecting from this restaurant. The service was not at all at the level you would imagine. The waiters were not as aware of our table as they should, we had to call for them in 2 opportunities, they just repeated a memorized speech for the menu and different courses and many times they would forget the speech and even what were the ingredients of the app or entrees. We claim about the side of one of our dishes twice and nobody did anything about that. We had to serve our own wine because they wouldn’t come to serve. Absolutely disappointing experience. There are so many nice restaurant with great service and food in Atlanta and specially Buckhead that we don’t believe we need to be treated like this again in Eugene. Too bad, we had high expectations.
this place is for that special night! Service was great and food outstanding
Outstanding food an service! Eugene is simply the best restaurant in Atlanta and has been excelling under the new executive chef James who has ben doing an excellent job in his new endeavor
We enjoyed our time at Restaurant Eugene. The staff was extremely attentive and the food was delicious.
I wanted to choose a place in Atlanta to celebrate my grad school graduation that I had not been to. I've been to most of the fine dining spots in Atlanta, so after some research I landed upon Restaurant Eugene, and I'm very glad I did.
Service: The service quality at Restaurant Eugene is fantastic from the moment you step in the door. The door is held by the hostess and the maître d' greets you at the front of the restaurant. Walking into the dining area is serene. The initial impression that stood out the most was the quiet ambience. It is hard to find places in Atlanta that are not packed and loud on a Friday evening. I mentioned it was a special occasion on my reservation and the maître d' inquired as to what was being celebrated. At the table, we were greeted by each member of the service staff with congratulations on my graduation, which again speaks to how seriously the restaurant takes service quality. The sommelier brought over a complementary rose to enjoy as well.
Drinks: The wait staff was all extremely knowledgable and had in-depth recommendations on wine selection and appropriate pairings. The wine list is extensive and any wine enthusiast will be more than pleased with the selection of top-shelf bottles. I wouldn't call my wine palate particularly refined, but I enjoyed the various glasses they recommended for the evening.
Food: My family and I all chose to dine a la carte rather than do the full tasting. I'm sure it is a very nice experience to do the full tasting (for another time!), however, it had been a long day for us. Every dish that gets brought to the table looks like something off of Chef's Table. There is great pride that goes into their dishes from the preparation to the plating. We sampled the NY Strip and grouper entrees, preceded by appetizers of asparagus and the beef tartare. All was delicious!
Final thoughts: Definitely worth a visit. Everything comes together to make for one of the best fine dining experiences in Atlanta.
It was my first time and it was a nice experience. You make it enjoyable, once we got the waiters to loosing up. I would go back.
Great service. Overall tasty food sensations. However, one of our two steaks was so tough pieces could only be chewed for several minutes to enjoy the flavor and then spit out.
We reached early and were seated immediately. They don't have bar seating, but they do have a waiting area where they serve drinks. We started off with a cocktail each and then tried the tasting menu with the Grand Cru wine pairing -- loved it! Neither of us are fans of sweet wine, but Restaurant Eugene might have changed that for us. The 3 wines at the end (2 sweet and 1 port) were so yum, I had to stop myself from asking for seconds (so I had some space for the rest of the meal). The service was impeccable - the entire team that served us worked well together. When we asked for our chèque, our server gently reminded us that we had a gift voucher from them (if you cancel a reservation, they charge $50 per person and send you an email for a gift receipt of the same amount that you can use at a future visit). I had their email in my phone and they were able to factor it in before our payment. We had forgotten to bring up the gift voucher since we'd loved our dining experience so much -- and this reminder was very thoughtful on their part.
Attire: Dressy (if you find that fun) or smart casual
Parking: We took an Uber so we could enjoy our wine pairing
Staff looks like ex cons with knuckle tattoos and dred locks
Perhaps Atlanta's top fine dining experience. Impeccable service. Formal, yet attentive, warm and friendly. The set menu is always the way to go here. Perfect portions, paced beautifully and outstanding fresh food.
Excellent experience where they made my girlfriend’s birthday so special.
Best meal my wife and I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. We chose the tasting menu with wine pairings. The range of cuisine and perfect execution made our anniversary a night to remember. The service matched the food and only enhanced the experience. Thank you to Restaurant Eugene. We will return.
What an amazing meal.. service, wine pairings, and food were all excellent. Looking forward to our next meal at RE.
It was fine but not exceptional. Not a fine dining experience. It started with when we arrived and the valet wasn't there to take our car. We parked ourselves in the deck. We got great service when the restaurant was mostly empty but it got progressively busier and that happened fast. During dinner, we could hear the entire conversation for the couple next to us and that was a little disturbing that there was a lack of privacy. Maybe the tables are too close together. At a few points, our service slowed down completely and we were waiting with our finished plates in front of us for them to be taken away for... too long. We had to ask for our dessert at the end, and had to ask for the check too. Overall it was a little off putting for this place being so hyped. I probably would not be willing to give them another chance.
The complimentary valet was nice. When we walked in we were told our table was waiting—because the restaurant was completely empty. We subjected to a series of kind, but awkwardly stiff and formal greetings by seemingly the entire staff. This procession of awkward formality went on through the nine course meal sampling progression we chose. We were told a long story about where the butter, salt, and pepper came from for our bread course. Each course was introduced as “amazing” but then the waiter would almost nervously ask at the end how each course tasted. Once he even returned from the kitchen to inquire about the course because he had forgotten to ask. The service was solicitous and inquisitive to the point of overbearing—even the water pourer asked about how we liked one of our courses at one point. I felt I couldn’t take a bite without one of the staff appearing. I could go on about the strangeness at the front of the house there. As for the meal, there were some good points—a grouper course with mandarins was light and nice; and a cabbage course with fois gras was good; but the main course was seared NY strip with asparagus. That much buildup of courses for what equates to wedding reception food? I’m not sure I followed the chef around that bend. The previous evenings we had spent at Gunshow and Umi and spent the same amount of money both nights and had a much better experience with our food, service, and ambiance both evenings. Eugene, if you have to ask me, the patron, how your food is doing, you’re doing it wrong.
Wow! A true 5 star experience. So many places boast 5 star experiences but few truly match up. I too have given five star ratings to places based on great food or great service with everything else only truly in the four star range but it is the attention to detail that makes a restaurant 5 star or less. Restaurant Eugene meets and exceeds all expectations. Jason Pinnock, the lead server, deserves high praise for his leadership. There was not one server who was not absolutely on point the entire night. By the way our dinner lasted almost 3 hours. From the ironing of the table linens to the way that everyone coordinated service and clean up Restaurant Eugene has my highest praise. Then when I threw the pastry chef a curve with my dairy allergy (the kind you die from not lactose intolerance) she hit the ball out of the park with a chocolate desert that was to die for. All of the food was incredible!!We will absolutely be back!! Well done!!
1. We arrived just before our appointed time of 7 and waited for about five minutes for our table, which had not been occupied.
2. I did not see but one red wine on the list under $100.
3. The amuse arrived before our wine was served.
4. No physical menu was offered. Later when I asked if there was one, I was told that on Saturday evening, they were presented only when requested in order that the kitchen could operate more efficiently.i
5. The 3rd course of our four course meal was sirloin strip. Mine could not be cut! Besides, it was almost cool. When asked what could be done to make it right, instead of offering a rerun, I had to ask for a re-do.
Incredible food, great & unique service. A tad pricier than similar tasting menus that I’ve had but that’s my only disappointment. Food and service made up for it. Amazing!!
Everything there is exceptional! Highly recommend!
Staff was so lovely to us. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. We had chilly experiences with the staff in the past so it was really nice to be greeted so warmly by all.
We were impressed with the room.
The salad was - well - weird and not good tasting.
The entree was good - not wonderful.
We will come back
It would be nice if the food was more predictable.
But it was a good experience and we’ll come back
Great tasting menu. Fantastic service. Wonderful wine pairings.
First of all, let me say that the service we received was perfect in the old-school way. While there were no major complaints, I will say that restaurant experiences have evolved, and this style of dining now seems forced, pretentious, and unnecessarily formalized. The interior decor feels somewhat “corporate”, the suits and elevator jazz felt formulaic, and the food left little to the imagination. I was pleasantly surprised to find Dirty&Rowdy’s Chenin Blanc on the wine list, but the menu didn’t keep pace in its daring or innovation.
Returned to this restaurant after years of remembering it fondly. Upheld our memory of an extra special experience. Actually went this time to celebrate my birthday. The concierge service, the ambiance were top rate. The food was superb, not just terrific. The preparation was notable and the subtleties of taste were demonstrated the skills of the chefs. This is a must return restaurant and we won't wait long to do so.
Wife’s birthday and invited two other couples to join as a surprise. Went very well, and we all had the tasting menu which was fabulous as always! Wine selection was extraordinary and went really well with the courses. Rezervation was for 7:30 and we left after midnight!
Second year in a row having my birthday dinner at RE and it did not disappoint. Service is wonderful and tasting menu is so fun. Wine recommendations were spot on too. This is close to being on par with fine dining in NY.
The experience started off strong, but after the entree was served, things went downhill fast.
It took a very long time to get our dessert order placed. Our coffee was not fully brewed, so we were served light brown water from a french press, and no one was around to provide us with our bill.
After hearing so many things about this R.E., I was very surprised by how the evening ended.
Exceptional dining experience by the staff. We chose the tasting menu and the staff made sure that vegan options we made to meet our needs. Very attentive staff who explained about every one of the courses and the difference between vegan and non-vegan, sourcing of the food, etc. We got the opportunity to meet the chef and his staff who were very cordial and made the dining experience standout even more. We have been to Restaurant Eugene a number of times but this was the best by far. They brought out a birthday cake for my wife who is vegan and had special cocktail for us to celebrate the event.
My anniversary dinner at restaurant Eugene was absolutely amazing. The service was impeccable and the food was wonderful.
We started with drinks at the bar. Alex made a delicious vodka and hibiscus cocktail. We then moved to the dining room for a full tasting. Of the 8 courses my favorites were the trigger fish and the steak. I also enjoyed the full wine pairing. To be honest it was a lot of wine! They were expertly chosen, thank you Jenny! The staff were knowledgeable about all of the dishes and were immediately able to answer my questions. I don't think my water glass was ever empty thanks to Nick. Our server Charles was very pleasant and professional-he made sure we had a wonderful time. The jazz playlist was excellent, a perfect compliment to my evening. My extended gratitude to Chef James and the entire staff for making my anniversary an amazing experience.
Food and beverage simply the best. Ambience complements the food
