Our second time at Eighteen. The ambiance is warm and elegant, the food superb, and the service is excellent -- professional but friendly, and ...happy!
Enjoyed my meal with my daughter. The food was over-priced, but delicious. Service was attentive and very pleasant.
My family enjoyed another great evening at 18. The food is superb. We are all critical diners and we all found our dishes exceptional. The atmosphere is classy without being stuffy. The staff is all so professional, knowledgable and fun. I had the Ling Cod which was pure heaven. If you want a memorable and relaxing evening, this is a great place to go.
Our night at 18 was very pleasant. The service was exceptional, prompt and friendly. The food was great! The ingredient quality explains the price which is fair. Would recommend it 100%.
We are a somewhat infrequent but long standing customer who besides the food and service, love the fact that we can talk to each other without having to overcome the often noisy environments of many restaurants
Was looking to go out for somewhere to go for a special dinner and have a great meal, and I found it.
Was craving a steak so found this restaurant with some good reviews so gave it a try.
It has nice decor and an interesting layout. It has a feel that you know you're at a nice place but you can just chill and not have to be 'on' at a really fancy place. I was relaxed and liked being there.
I got the Beef Tenderloin and was not disappointed one bit. A great cut of meat cooked exactly how I like it along with a real nice demiglaze I believe? (I cook a great steak myself but this was way better than mine! haha) This was with the mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. It was all really good. Everything had a nice balanced flavour and was a very enjoyable meal. Also perfect portions too.
I'll come back here for sure.
Always have a great time at E18hteen, regardless of the function. Incredible food, excellent service, lovely surroundings.
It was excellent, and the service, impeccable. I go to Ottawa every year, and I make it a point to go back because we are never disappointed. Service is really top notch!!!!!
Beautiful restaurant and the service is good but the food is nothing remarkable for the price. Crab cakes are fishy and the ling cod is boring. The steak was good but not exceptional.
Fête à mon amie
Good food and good service. Meal was enjoyable. Thanks
We went for my birthday after researching for a 5 star meal. I was not let down on any level. The staff was spot on with ....well, everything. It was special and 5 stars from start to finish.
We had the Duo Duck and the Duo Lamb. Fantastic. My wife is not a lamb lover and she loved the meal. Yes, that good.
We'll go again
The food was amazing and the staff went out of their way to ensure it was a beautiful night for us , always a stellar experience
For the price of the meal, Eighteen did not meet my expectations.
I took my wife to Eighteen for Valentine's Day. It was a Tableau Menu and we optioned for the wine pairing.
The wine pairing was to include a glass of sparkling wine to start our night, we never received our glass of wine.
My wife ordered Foie gras for her Starter. When she received it the food was frozen.
The rest of the dinner went very well but was overall disappointed with my experience.
The restaurant is over rated. Prices are too high and the food does not follow. Wines are also very expensive.
Service impeccable, de loin un des meilleurs de la région sinon du pays !!!
Absolutely loved our evening here. Celebrated our wedding anniversary. The service was fabulous, the property is beautiful and the food was delicious. The oysters were amazing. My only negative would be that the main course could have been hotter -- we both had steak. Otherwise the flavours, presentation and creativity were perfect. Thank you.
We went to eighteen for the first time on a Saturday night. The ambience is great, and all the food is very expensive, which is fine as long as you get the rewarding feeling of a fine dining experience. The server seemed frazzled most of the night, he took a long time to come take our order after we had closed our menus, and then once we ordered, my date's first meal choice was sold out. The food was very good, but we were disappointed that the server seemed too busy to come around to fill our wine glasses from the very expensive bottle of wine we ordered, so we had to pour ourselves...These are just a couple of things that I don't expect to happen when going out for a 300$ dinner for two in this city...
It is a rare occasion indeed for our family of 5 to find a restaurant that manages to completely satisfy everyone's expectations for every course of a three course meal. Over the weekend Eighteen managed to do that and more. The crabcakes, carpacio, Caesar and beetroot salads and a steak tartare starter done to perfection with AAA beef (chopped - not minced) raised everybodies expectations and the superb cod, lobster, duck, lamb and pasta maincourses finaly just proved the point that Eighteen is in a class of its own.
The elegance of the setting in addition to the neatly dressed, attentive and courteous server at our table rounded off the picture of fine dining done right. We will definetly be back soon.
High expectations that we not met. Food was not great - had to send steak back for being undercooked. Crab cakes were bland.....very pricey for not great food.
We had a marvellous dinner experience. The food and service were perfect. It's our favourite restaurant in Ottawa. Cant wait to go back.
A high quality restaurant, with a lovely atmosphere. menu selection and choices were a bit heavy, and weak on the vegetarian side of things. Complementary appetizer was a nice touch.
Didn't like the place we were seatead just beside the door & the rack of coats it was cold , at the price that we paid it was not a good location should not be a dining table in that space good only to hang your coats. My husband plate was good it was the lamb but I took the lobster it was so tiny and the taste was so plain , it's much better at red lobster and the plate is full & half the price. Your place is too much expensive for what it's worth!
I've planned a surprise date for my husband, we were there for 3:30 and totally enjoy our night! Staff was gentle and welcoming, wine waiter was amazing and new is product. Food was very good and plates were special! Nice ambiance, good music and good vibes, nice cocktails, The look of the restaurant is warm and original. I totally recommended it!
Really lovely experience. Amazing service and great food. You will have a ice evening here!
Fabulous dining experience from the cocktails to desserts! Best foie gras ever and best steaks ever. Highly recommended!
My children (age 20 and 16) and I had a great time dining at e18ghteen. The food and service were great even though the tables were full.
My family enjoyed a memorable evening out at Restaurant Eighteen. The service was professional yet unpretentious. The sommelier was so knowledgeable and fun to learn from. The meal was delicious and impressive. We all loved the warm atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
The food was very great. Lots of flavour and ingredients presented in a very nice way.
Great Food, Drinks and Service.
All round very good and in a great location, service was unobtrusive but excellent
Thank you so much for making my birthday night special. The food was amazing along with the service. I will definitely be back!
We went to e18hteen last evening for my wife’s birthday and had a wonderful dining experience. The food and wine were superb, the service excellent and the attention to detail top notch. Through our OpenTable reservation they were aware that it was a special occasion and the Manager, Mark, personally greets us and offered a complimentary dessert to celebrate. All in all, our experience confirmed once again why e18hteen is our favourite restaurant for special occasions. We will be back again soon!
The Open Table ambience is certainly 5 star. Our meal was done to perfection and absolutely delicious. The only down side was the chilly conditions seated near an outside door on a very cold winter evening.
Having made reservations 3 weeks in advance for Christmas dinner with 3 friends from out of town, I was disappointed the restaurant had not informed us that there was a reception of 70 people and a wedding reception taking place at the same time.We were pushed by the standing crowd at our table and we were unable to have any conversation until the party sat down. Would love to have been informed as we would have changed the night. This made a bad first impression. We were compensated with free dessert but it did not make up for their lack ofcommunication. The food was excellent and the service was good. Would be careful if you make a reservation to ask if there is a special event being held. . I would also call them the day of and ask if a special event is happening as they did not share the info with me at anytime even though they called and spoke to me to confirm my reservation. Not good PR.
Although we had visited this restaurant a few times before, we were disappointed with our last experience. The front section was cold, the service quite slow considering that there were very few people. My partner's dishes were good while my "steak/frites" was far below what it should have been, especially considering the price. Over the years, I had many "steak/frites", here in Ottawa and other Canadian cities, and this one was the worst I ever had.
Service was incredibly slow despite the fact that the restaurant was not full. Food came cold.
Great location and atmosphere, but the food was disappointing. We tried the tasting menu and the value just wasn't there. A single oyster, shaved ice between portions, and three blueberries cut in half on the dessert place. For the price, we were expecting much better quality.
Wow, unexpected 9 courses meal. It was a last minute reservation but we had a treat. very well done, very well presented and very tasty. we loved it. we took the wine paring at $70 and it was excellent (bio wines).
Definitly a must try.
I had a lovely evening here with my parents who were visiting me from England. The venue was beautifully furnished, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the wine list was fantastic. The food was presented beautifully and tasted fantastic, the only criticism I would give is that it was luke warm in temperature. Nevertheless the general ambience was lovely and I will definitely go back!
