Restaurant at The Hotel Tides Ratings and Reviews
I stumbled across this restaurant on Open Table when looking for availability of one of the better known Asbury Restaurants and was amazed at the reviews; so my girlfriend and I decided it was definitely one we wanted to try. What a great decision! The food was excellent and the service was top notch. We were so happy we went there for dinner and definitely intend on returning! It's truly a hidden gem and perfect for a romantic dinner or for a group of friends. Give a try you won't be disappointed!
Kids gave us a nite out in Asbury Park and an acquaintance recommended Hotel Tides restaurant for dinner. Off the main drag on a quite street on the north end of town within walking distance from the Asbury Hotel. Sunday off season evening, so was not crowded and were seated right away. Food and service were outstanding with reasonable prices.
Would definitely come back.
My Husband and I have been coming to The Tides for 10 years now but usually just to grab a quick bite on the patio or to hang on the patio with friends enjoying cocktails. We finally decided to have dinner in the restaurant and so happy we did! This place has amazing food and the staff are incredibly friendly. Every plate was amazing.
Tip: Braised Short Ribs but first...Eggplant Meatballs! Yum!
My wife and I came for a special occasion on the recommendation of friends. As long time "foodies" we found the meal to be outstanding. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Menu was diverse with a number of excellent choices both for appetizers and main courses. We went on a Sunday evening so I cannot comment on how crowded it might be on the weekend. It is a neighborhood location, a great porch for drinks and a comfortable bar area. But, the real attraction was the food and preparation. I had the octopus for an appetizer, the short ribs for the main course. My wife had the scallops. Naturally we shared and I would not want to make a choice as to whose selection was the better one. Let me say that neither of us was disappointed. We shall return. My only disappointment is that I cannot take credit for this "discovery". Again...outstanding.
Came here for our anniversary dinner. A lively, but sophisticated feeling. Good for special celebrations or a dinner date. Loved the low Lighting in the dining room which was adorned with the original glass funky chandeliers that were moved from the lobby.
Unfortunately there was a very large group the same time we were there, so the noise level was incredible. But we got a good corner table diagonally way from them so it wasn't too bad.
Varied wine list, with some options that are not too expensive.
We had our anniversary dinner here.
To start, the dinner rolls were very fresh and good. I didn't get to finish mine cause husband quietly snatched it when I wasn't looking! I always appreciate good bread!
My husband had burrata for appetizer and a delicious short rib entree which he really enjoyed.
I had the fried octopus appetizer and bouillabaisse for my entree-both very tasty!
I had a lovely Sancerre that went well with my meal.
Service was just the right amount of attentiveness and our waiter was very warm, friendly and professional.
It was a very enjoyable anniversary dinner.
We would return again when in the area!
Not our first visit nor our last. Combination Birthday (me) and Anniversary (Friends). Not crowded for early dinner but other dinners arrived during the course of our meal. Could actually have a conversation. Fried Octopus (GREAT) and decent salad were the starters for four. Two orders of sea bass had large portions and done just right. Filet Mignon done as ordered (medium) and Crab Cakes were perfect (full of lump crab and very little bread). Coffee & espresso followed. Too full for desert.
The Hotel Tides has been consistently good over the last few years and we continue to enjoy the good food, service and ambiance.
Excellent restaurant! What a nice addition to Asbury. Off the beaten track a little which is
one of the plus parts. Don't always need to be in the boardwalk crowds. Food was delicious
and service efficient and so courteous . My husband went there with our adult daughter . He is extremely fussy and she is used to fine dining in Philly. No complaints from either. Amazing.
Tides has never disappointed! The food is creative and consistently excellent - really tasty and flavorful. The chef knows how to complement tastes. The ambiance is quaint with a low noise level. The service, equal to the food, is friendly and informative. This is absolutely an Asbury gem and a fantastic alternative to the bustle of Cookman Avenue. My only hesitation writing this, is too many people will have the same experience, leading to too much popularity.
We have heard about the Tides since we have a house in the area and always wanted to try it. Definitely food excellent and on the healthier side. Wine list reasonable & some interesting cocktails. You definitely would NOT know that caliber restaurant was inside by walking past. I like the eclectic feel of the place - definitely not you average décor/scene. We will be back!
We ordered steamed clams for appetizer and they were very sandy...the sandiest we have both ever had. There were even a few large pieces of rock in them. I was able to hear my date chewing the sand/rocks from across the table. We told the waiter and he went to ask someone in the back about that, he came back and told us that is the way they are supposed to be, and that is why they are served with clam juice...you are supposed to dunk them and clean them before eating them. We found that weird...and even if it is the case, they should have told us that before serving them. I thought they would comp the rocky clams but they didn't, they still charged us $18 for them. I was surprised.
We also had the crab cakes and the scallops. Both were good...nothing earth-shattering but yeah it was good. Not worth the $36 price tag on each.
A cozy and enjoyable quite restaurant. Manager and wait staff are kind and accommodating. The food is excellent: tasty, elegantly presented and well balanced under every point of view. The menu is interesting and has a wide range of choices (be sure to check out the current menu on the website, they change it frequently). The executive chef, Jeff Parenty, is a passionate, gracious host. It definitely was a positive experience. Bravo!
Four of us recently had dinner at the Hotel Tides Restaurant. The selection of food was quite authentic. Delicious appetizers as well as outstanding meals. Very good service. Original antique tin ceilings in dining room. Nice ambiance in the lobby; sometimes have live jazz. Small restaurant, so reservations are recommended especially on weekends and during the summer months.
