Restaurant at The Hotel Tides
The whimsical, intricately detailed tin ceiling and walls - dating back to the 1920's - demanded a ten month renovation, showcasing the cultural heritage and history in modern day Asbury Park.

Romantic, quiet, excellent food, service and background music.
Our very favorite restaurant to go to for special occasions. Actually, I would go there anytime. Outstanding menu and service.
Fabulous choices. Beautifully prepared. Delicious. Wonderful, creative cocktails. Wonderful service. Beautiful.
It was fine, even good, but not amazing. I don't really understand the hype -- it's definitely a hot spot, but just not sure why. Might go back and sit at the bar which seemed lively and fun -- the dining room is a big block of open space with interesting tin ceiling and wall decor that probably added to the loudness. It was one of those places we felt we had to try, but it didn't live up to our hopes.
Great time at The Hotel Tides. Awesome service. Started with a warm welcome from front desk and our host. Great work to accommodate all food preferences. Our group was well anticipated.. tables set in perfection followed by wonderful food. Perhaps minor modification in menu, a swap in type of squash, but dish was excellent and wouldn't have changed a thing.
Would have given the food five stars if there had been a decent dessert menu. The quality of the food was excellent and beautifully prepared, the menu varied, and the flavors excellent but the desserts were limited, cliche and unimaginative.
Gets better and better every time we go
Love this place
This restaurant’s top ranking in Asbury Park is well-deserved! Great food, lovely atmosphere. We had the Mexican shrimp cocktail, which was fantastic. The calamari was excellent. Our entrees (chicken and the pasta) were perfect. And the cocktails were great! We’ll be back!
Don't let the outside fool you. What looks like a casual hang out magically turns into a fine dining experience once you walk inside. A water wall and plenty of artwork make the atmosphere interesting as you walk through the bar area to the dining room. The dining room wall and ceiling treatment combine to make an elegant atmosphere. The food was amazing. They accommodated a large party of 16 with 24 hours notice, and each plate from the duck and calamari appetizer to the day scallops or short rib dinners, was cooked to perfection. The service was top notch. The wait staff was attentive to all our needs including several small children from 1 to 9 year olds up to the matriarch whose birthday we were celebrating. We vacation annually at the shore and have a family night out. Our usual haunt was not able to accommodate us, and we are thankful. What a great find We now have a new favorite place for our family dinner. Also, I live locally and will be retuning with my wife for a date night soon.
Just an amazing spot. Food and service are great. Definitely recommend to all
Food and service were both very good. Paperdelle Bolognese was delicious. Crab cake appetizer a little bland. Overall a nice, relaxing dining experience.
Very nice dining experience at the Tides! Bartender and Waiter/Servers were super nice. We sat on lovely front porch with cocktail prior to dinner. Meal was fantastic! Little bit pricey but well worth it. We will definitely be back!
This was our second dining experience at the Hotel Tides. Again, we were very pleased with out meal and service. Everyone was pleasant, accommodating and aiming to please. We were celebrating the anniversary of our first date, (what can I tell you, my husband is a romantic!) and the evening was so enjoyable. The ambience gets just as high a rating as food and service. I guess you can say, The Hotel Tides has it all! Thank you for a memorable evening!
Wonderful atmosphere great food great drinks.... Great service ... extremely pleasant and make you feel like you’re part of a community
What a wonderful evening, dinner was fantastic, the service was impeccable!
I post this reluctantly and only because of sheer disappointment: for years of visiting Asbury Park we have wanted to experience this restaurant. So we proactively made a reservation for our final night of a long weekend, well in advance of our stay. So, we arrived and were amiably greeted by the host. But we also were greeted by the unwelcome aroma of spoiled fish throughout the dining room. We waited several minutes to see if the fragrance dissipated; sadly, it did not. So we left our seats and informed the host as to why we could not stay to dine. The smell was distractingly distasteful and we could not imagine enjoying a meal with that overpowering scent. The host was apologetic and unfortunately could offer us no alternative to escape the smell. So, we left with disappointment. We wish them well and we hope they can remediate that unfortunate aroma.
We had a great experience, great tasting food, decent portions, etc. will absolutely go again!
We walked in for the first time for an 8:30 reservation and was immediately told that we need get or order in now because kitchen is closing. There was no welcome, no drink order, nothing. Just told to hurry up. Needless to say, we left and had a great and relaxing dinner at another restaurant. Never going back.
Birthday party of nine friends
Great spot for a date night in Asbury Park. Great good and drinks...especially liked the fish.
Food delicious from beginning to end
Great martinis as well
we eat there fairly often ---it is always very good----the staff is friendly and efficient----
Wonderful evening! Great food and service!
Great service, atmosphere , food and cocktails
Excellent food and great service
Have been here several times and enjoyed it very much, and recommended it to many people, didn't mind the high price because food and service was good. But not this time, salad had little to no dressing so had no taste , my Husband had the soup, said nothing special. I had the pork chop and my Husband had the steak SPECIAL served with one uncleaned prawn, I guess for looks ! This Dinner was very over priced and not good! Sorry we really did like this place, but we wont be back.
The food was exceklent and the service was great
Chris is a wonderful waiter. So friendly. Went for a birthday celebration and will be returning soon for anothwr fantastic meal.
I've written a few review for the Tides restaurant but I love to update them b/c the menu changes seasonally and I want my reviews to be current! The head check left a few months ago but you'd never know it b/c the sous chef has taken over and from what I understand he put all the dishes together before anyway. :) He's done a great job and I look forward to his new spring menu coming out this week. We eat here approx 1x/mo or so and are always happy. Chris is a pro and Ryan always pitches in when needed. We brought my brother and sister in law for Friday 4/6/18 dinner. They'd never been before so we were excited to introduce them to the restaurant. Everything was perfect. The drinks were cold and the food was hot. We had various dishes...haddock, short rib, scallops, steak, appetizers and dessert. All delicious. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a beautiful dinner here. Start at the bar/lounge area, then have dinner. When done, grab an after dinner drink and sit on the front porch and just enjoy conversation!
Lovely dining room , greeted by friendly attentive staff
Small but complete menu with nice variety
We enjoyed a great mussels app and halibut special entree. Very flavorful. My dates steak was a tiny bit tough in places but very flavorful.
The lobby bar and lounge area is pretty and modern.
Looking forward to returning in the summer but we enjoyed the quietness of a rainy low key weekend!
The food is excellent. I’ve tried something different each time I go and I never had a meal I didn’t like. The service is superb and very friendly. The atmosphere is acceptable but in my opinion could be improved. It reminds me of being in a basement even though it’s on the first floor. They should uncover some windows as it is in a very nice neighborhood. It can also be a little noisy depending on the crowd. Last Saturday it was a bit loud until a group having a birthday party left. It’s definitely worth a visit.
This Asbury Park gem never lets me down! Feel at home here! Treated so well. The ribs were delectable as usual and the vanilla creme brulee was also delicious. Cocktails were made to perfection!
We selected this restaurant after reading the reviews. the food was very good, and since there were 8 of us, we sampled several items. the lamb chops were a big hit, and the short ribs, though sparse, were very tasty. It was a very pleasant evening.
Great food but not nearly enough. Didn’t mind paying up for the wine, but the portions were appetizer sized and not nearly enough to justify the price. Even our wives were still hungry. C’mon you have a great thing. A more generous portion would Make it impossible not to return.
Excellemt. Service is great. Food was terrific.
I love taking friends from out of town to this restaurant. The staff is so warm and welcoming; the menu is diverse and appealing; the food is always prepared perfectly; and the atmosphere is cozy and comforting. A true gem in AP.
We had the most marvelous evening. The setting is charming, an old hotel that’s been wonderfully renovated. The food was excellent, as was the service. We can’t wait to go back!
We have always had a wonderful meal here and last night was no exception. We ordered the short ribs, the halibut and the duck along with house salads and the arugula salad. Everything was delicious and expertly prepared. Service couldn't have been better. Waiter was attentive yet left us alone to talk when we wanted to. I think The Hotel Tides is a true gem.
This was our second trip to the Tides. The staff was very friendly . Our meal was excellent. Veal Osso Buco was a special and is one of our favorites. It was done to perfection. The Colorado Lamb Chops were equally prepared to perfection. Our server was knowledgeable and genial. It was a relaxing atmosphere with just the right amount of buzz. We'll be back.
Duck was tough and hard to cut. Shrimp and lobster entree contained 3 small shrimp and 2 one inch pieces of lobster. Atmosphere was different and nice
Excellent food and service. We will definitely go back.
